Hello. i have an issue with TM. i was an expat working in KL. i have a housemate which we divide payments to TM. all of a sudden she was fired from her work and given few days to leave Malaysia. i am left with our TM. but sooner, i was retrenched in our company because of the economy in Malaysia. i have to leave Malaysia also because the company will discontinue my visa. now, my issue is, i left Malaysia without terminating our TM. i didnt have time to terminate it. i was given full ownership of our TM when my housemate went back to her country. i changed the email and phone number from her to mine in order for me to get notifications when i was still in KL. i used the TM more than she did. i used it for 1 year. actually, she didn't want to have TM in the first place it was me who convinced her. so her ID was used in the registration. my visa was still in process/renewal at that time so I cant use it for the registration. TM is now sending me emails, text messages, and keeps on calling me. my phone has dual sim and my Malaysian sim is still there. what should i do? my housemate will get angry at me because i didn't terminate the TM. how can i settle it now when i am not in Malaysia anymore. is it true that they will file case against me? i am out of Malaysia now. but, what if i have job offers again in malaysia, what will happen? what if my previous housemate will have job offers also in malaysia? what will happen? is there a limit of years that the record will be deleted in their system? by the way, the bill is RM2,000+ . 1 year no payment because i am not in Malaysia anymore plus penalties i guess. thanks.

Once u out of MY, TM can’t do shit. Anyway, it is not TM chasing or calling u. Mostly debt collectors. They will use threats to force u to pay. But since u already outside, no biggie. At most u won’t be able to subscribe to another broadband package later on.

How long have u been not paying? Didnt they cut off your line or terminate yoru service if u have not cleared your bill after the bills are long overdue? How can it accumulate up to RM2k?
From my understanding, the service will terminate on its own, no?

you have to repay TM on whatever outstanding amount that you have owed them...
you have to clear the debt if you still want work safely in malaysia, because TM may press charges against you

If im not mistaken for a foreigner you pay quite a big sum deposit (RM500-1000) for getting TM services, you could cancel the service & pay the remaining outstanding if you need to subscribe broadband services again.

From my understanding, the service will terminate on its own, no? i paid for 1 year and the next year no payment at all since i am out of malaysia already. its a 2 years contract btw. i guess after 1 year, they terminated the service or no connection at all but the bill will still continue until it will be paid.

I see, then TM intentionally screw you over, haha. Btw, u'll only be blacklisted by TM, u can still sign up with other ISP, lol, i dont want to talk to much, u go n find system error message's post and thread and look at how he toys with TM. Haha

The debt collectors will file some charges against her but won't affect anything apart from being a nuisance. U can still open bank account or continue to work peacefully. I will terminate the MY phone number if I were u. Otherwise, the debt collectors will bug u forever.

it is registered under you or your friend?
If under her name but you change the contact detail you, she will still liable. Also depend on whether you still need to remain your friendship...

TM like all telcos here don't care or bothered with early cut off because they can milk more money this way.
Other countries only foreigners can subscribe to prepaid service. Myself also experienced the same problem last time with TM and Jaring Wireless. Contract expired but they kept the account active until it accumulated into thousands of RM before selling the debt to a debt collection agencies.
This way, both telcos and debt collection agencies have money to collect.

My ex tenant from India did not terminate maxis broadband and owe Maybank credit card more than rm10K. Nothing seems happen to him. He can still come to Malaysia and fly back to India without settling all his debts.
