Is it acceptable for an alternator output to drop to ~12.6v with headlamps, and aircond on? This being an original denso alternator that had been repaired and the repairmen assured that the voltage on full load is acceptable. Is he correct or a load lf BS? I can feel the engine seems to have some difficulty with the load when headlamps are on, the rpm drops quite a bit and engine begins to experience slightly trembling until revved up, non-EFI car.
Googled and found followings:-Normal Alternator Charging Voltage: 13.8V – 14.8V (while engine is running at ~1500–2000 RPM)
- If the battery light is **on** or voltage is unstable, check:
- Alternator diodes
- Serpentine belt tension
- Battery terminals for corrosion
Note: Applicable to DENSO 70–80A alternator!
Jusy for info.: Cost of New Original Denso from Thailand approx. RM333
