QUOTE(moon* @ Jan 24 2008, 06:10 PM) FD but unsure it's 1.8 or 2.0 but definitely not a type-r..there are already type-r bodykits for sale, so can't jump the conclusion even when you come across one unless you look into the interior as well as the brakes/wheels. QUOTE(Jackie Leong @ Jan 24 2008, 10:59 PM) Why you worry when even Merc-Benz's battery is at the rear trunk as default. Nothing wrong with allocating the battery to the rear, but make sure its done professionally with proper power cable and other safety features like fuse boxes at the front and rear before the battery. Dont take this reallocating job too lightly as poor workmanship will lead to short circuit and other risks. |

QUOTE(Jackie Leong @ Jan 24 2008, 10:59 PM) Not practical for a daily driven car, newer dry cell batteries are quite light so moving it to the trunk got minimal or no weight advantage at all, can have more 'breathing' space in the engine for other important items like CAI, have to fork out more money to fabricate a custom 'tie down' for the battery in the trunk...errrr that's my personal opinion This post has been edited by egiewan: Jan 25 2008, 12:48 AM |

if its just relocating the battery to the rear and not adding an additional battery...
the pros: - extra space in the engine compartment - 'longer' battery life as temperatures at the boot would be much lower than in the engine compartment - reduce risk of shorting the battery terminals during maintainence - able to use a much larger battery - car's security is increased as it would take a while for the thief to access the 'hidden' battery the cons: - troublesome when it comes to jump-start/changing the battery (jump-start cable has to be extra long!!) - cost of cable isnt that cheap since 4 or 8 gauge would be used. a sedan would need 4-5 meters per run. - hiding the bundle of cables might be a headache and a noise problem if theres ICE. batt +ve to alternator, batt +ve to main supply, engine block to batt -ve. thats just three cables and more to come. - cost to manufacture a nice bracket & frame overall its not practical unless its adding a second battery. stock location is still the best. |

QUOTE(ConquerorX @ Jan 24 2008, 07:26 PM) agree QUOTE(Gouki @ Jan 25 2008, 12:00 AM) with some mods, u'll be faster than our taiko in no time QUOTE(louyeh @ Jan 25 2008, 01:34 AM) nah it depends on the overall design of the engine also. like my SAAB Classic 900s, the battery was located next to the exhaust manifold! which is why my dad shifted the battery to the trunk. at least u won't hear some pop |
