Local news reports so far indicate there are at least five cases of taxi and ride-hailing drivers being diagnosed with the coronavirus. A driver in southern Hainan province, for example, continued to work via multiple ride-hailing platforms even after showing symptoms of the disease on January 27. The local government said this driver, who kept working until he went to hospital on January 31, was diagnosed with the disease on February 4, according to reports.
The governments in Beijing and Shanghai have recently announced measures to contain the spread of the coronavirus on taxi and ride-hailing services. Drivers have been directed to wear face masks, open the window after each ride and disinfect their vehicles regularly.


I would be opening my windows during the rides for safety precaution. Enclosed Air conditioned in up close circulation or contact definitely carry high risk of infection.

Anti bacterial spray only works on Toyota bacterial and would not work as a disinfectant for Corona virus whereas the anti virus spray might work for bacterial infection.

There are two types of disinfectant that is currently "deemed effective " for coronavirus but coronavirus have different strains. The two are Lysol and Cholox .

Documents submitted to the Environmental Protection Agency show that Clorox and Lysol sprays and wipes are able to list “Human Coronavirus” on their labels because those products were tested against human coronavirus 229E. But it is not test on Nova Corona virus which just emerged just late last year outbreak.

IMHO, grabbing riders is a high risk job where chances of getting infected is high in up close and personal enclosed airconditioned car. In fact, chances are even higher with the riders as passengers are touching car handles and seats. If there achoo......the virus would fly everywhere.

I decided not to drive where I dun think I cannot bear under lock and keys in hospital rooms for weeks if kena Toyota Corona virus.

And I think it is less risky to grab some loose changes at the roulette tables at Genting Highland to beat boredom. I would played at the electronic section where I dun even have to touch cash. Whenever I need to cash my winning credits, I have my disposable glove on. Been up to the mountain with my brother from overseas for more than a week spinning wheels of fortune. Now just awaiting to win the four wheels cars in the Genting Lucky draw contest.

I have stopped grab riders since weeks ago because it is no fun getting Toyota Corona virus and may also infect my family and friends. Precaution can only minimize the risk but no guarantee as one sneeze can travel round the car. And driving with disposal mask and plastic hand glove is so uncomfortable in Malaysian hot weather.

With over 230 cases detected, the risk is too high to take chances.

iSayman, either she is clueless or she is misleading you with the clinical paper link. In other words - BS you. As far as I know , no consumer hand santizer is labelled as Virus killer. If you can comprehend reading the clinical paper, it stated efficacy against microbes such as bacteria. Covid 19 is virus not bacteria.

I have no vested interest to sell anything to kill Covid 19. My interest is to share my cooking stories based on my experience and knowledge. I am happy if I can limit the infection, save a life or two. After all, it is outside the box and free. Priceless !!!
