QUOTE(derred @ Jun 9 2007, 02:03 AM) Yes u r rite. Thats why i were asking his age. For some level, there are always thing that limits our option. What im trying to say is, even if u invent something in today's world, u will need more than imagination to make it come true. I give u fibre optic widgets as example, there is a company named Licomm tech found an south korean guy age 44 years old with 3 phd in their hand. Currently he has like 33 pattern for enchanced fibre optic and hired by this Licomm tech. They vision is to make use of it to enchance internet connectivity like here in the US for game servers like CS 1.6, to play against west coast from east coast have 100+ ping latency. With the widgets, it will run smoothly at 1 ping latency. Unfortunately, they are not rich so they need funds from other to get listed in NYSE. Now the company is basically own by the rich who funded them. The other prob they couldnt find how to mass-produce it, it just too complicated. See even if u found new technology by now, u will need more skills to survive. My point was it is better he use his spare imagination to other skills. Note i always mention good thinking superb ideas, i do value that but just dont waste too much on ideas. ok ? Yes, but that's only obvious. But limitations are mostly just temporary. Even if they can't use it now, there will be some use for it in the future, and that is what being on the cutting edge is all about. And not everyone is in it for the megabucks. Some people just like inventing new things. "ideas never die". And you just failed to get his sarcasm really. That's all there is to it.

I probably dont. Read back my post i have add something. Ur rite about the things u said. I hope if he is reading this now, he will get our points and make use of its.
My added point from previous post:
I support that kind of thinking if u realize, but i was just concern more on how to make use of it. Dont waste it. Keep up the good thinking and make the use of it.
My direct point would be there is a fine line that separates between dreams and goals. I want that kid to set goals, not just dreaming. Dreaming at night could be wonderful etc, but its useless. Goals are different we could clearly see it and celebrate it if we manage to achieve one. Hope this give u idea how i appreciate that kinda of thinking so much.

where are my stars???
|
do u know that.. for the graphics to be more realistic.. the more work is needed to be put on it???
eg.. artist have to develop multiple maps/textures and ultra high detail poly with tesselation, lotsa shader programming(i mean ALOT for effects like raytracing, refraction, reflection, tesselation, etc etc...) , motion capture, etc etc
i don't think its worth the time/effort/money.. other than to show proof of concept

Since in the world no 1 is perfect... why will product a Perfect graphic card in future?
Bcoz of human not perfect... how advanced of a computer nowaday also hav weakness.... Intel Core2Duo.... <~ powerful? Performence? but still will lag..... No matter how realistic a graphic card is there sure hav weakness on it so the war wont end .... no game over in the world.....
Just like last time a computer big like a house now hav laptop ... do u think laptop is the best? no ... maybe hav sumthing smaller then a laptop....
Technology wont end.... but human will die..... LOL..... except.... "The Day After Tomorrow" is coming.... XD

QUOTE(derred @ Jun 9 2007, 02:37 PM) that was my point, the A.I. GPU to clean ur house and raise babies ? dude, life aint no movies u need to realize that. do u know what GPU stands for ? its graphic processing unit. How in the earth would GPU clean ur house ? I thot u were thinking smart, i was wrong. no offense, u have good idea and thinking. Just, ur wasting it on the wrong direction my fren. Better let that kinda thinking of the world will become a movie like "matrix", slip from ur mind. btw how old r u ? it's ok if ur in like 12-20 range. If ur older than that, grow up. Again no offense. It's for ur own good. anybody please support me to help this kid ? i bet u never hang out in kopitiam so never know lamely's prowess in creating legendary thread

It's all hardcore physics which most people take for granted in their daily lives. Currently all we do is make cheap approximations. We will get there some day, but not so soon. You really need a vast amount of computing power to achieve all this. But once you have all that computing power, then things become a lot easier for the programmer i would think. You don't need to write really crazy shaders. You just need to define certain properties of the materials and light sources, and the physics takes care of the rest. as if sony ps3 claims can do all amazing physics calculations using Cell processor. Now i know that is still isn't enough anyway, do u guys think that our current PCs (8800 Ultra with C2Q) can render the frame of images at a frame rate of a motion picture on the fly aka realtime? The image quality, physics, background, textures have to be on par with Shrek 3 or FF7 Advent children and etc now isnt 8800gtx can render all the testing in 3dmark 06 with high fps? all of the testing video's lifeliness in 3dmark06 is very close to those highend CG movies

QUOTE(lamely_named @ Jun 9 2007, 11:32 AM) not sure if this is "hardware" worthy thread, so mod kindly move it if it's not. what if in the near future, the GPU industry achieved 100% photorealistic capability? A Graphic card and a PC system that can produce AS REAL AS REAL LIFE graphic? Along with the effect and physics. Will the GPU industry stand still? Because what else can we do? You cant be "realer" than real life right? no more graphic war? End Game? Integrated real life graphic chips? or ONE graphic card to rule us all? Nah, the next thing is 'SENSATION' processing unit. Something we can feel, tactile, soft, hard, rough, smooth, bouncy and sharp...

Next time if its already out, i know ill be enjoying it playing counter-strike with super minor lag no matter where the other team comes from (east coast, west coast, midwest, south etc). At least he has 3 phd, i couldnt recall how much them pay him, but as far as i remember it's 6 figures in USD. Thats what u see per year. I assume u know that. This guy makes that much per month, and trust me it aint 100,000 or sumthing like that. It's way up higher. Unless your friends are some senior manager at Boieng or sumthing i guess it would be 6 figures per month hehe. U can ask them tho, is it per year or month. Here usually it goes per year.

Photo-realistic 3D image on 2D screens. My bet is the next step would be 3D images on 3D visual presentation i.e. holograms. Next would be photo realistic holograms (now that would be something!). Maybe after that it moves up to virtual reality.
