If your priority is safety, stability, gadgets, then it is a good choice.
If your priority is Resell Value, Fuel Consumption, Honda/Toyota that way --> |

Honestly if all you want is safety and stability, get an Iriz
At least you are saving almost 20k there Jazz is good because of FC and massive space/practicality New Vios also looks good since there 7 airbags and RCTA/BSA Mazda is a drivers car, a bit niche since it’s tiny af Rio is all over the place, looks aggressive but slow af and heavy FC At least Iriz has a good ride and handling with decent FC and power, plus cheaper |

Currently am driving a rio sedan. Based on the previous rio UB gen.
So far loving my ride, its been 2 years already. I bought it end of the year as well and got great discounts, almost RM 13 k discount (back in 2016) It's true that resale value sucks, due to the huge discounts that some dealers are giving. And FC won't be as good as Japs (I am clocking 12-14 km/L consistently for mix driving condition) But driving experience have been really great so far. Previously I was driving Almera for 3 years, gave me so many problems. Cooling coil rosak, belting crack, wheel bearing got sound. |

should at least put 1.6L engine, baru laa umph
recent addition of 6-speed gb is good but head unit is worse than its lesser bro Picanto, why Kia Malaysia why? Slap it with AA & CP and buyers are more incentivized to consider lorr and 80k too high laa - if Kia gives 15k discount then can seriously consider |

Too busy with that wedding I guess lulzNaza stupid didnt highlight this https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=90744781 Then it has better proposition than I have expected. - 6-speed is sufficient for highway cruising - AA and CP alone are enough to make the in-car media/entertainment experience to today's standards - space is sufficient for until 2 normal-sized adults + 2 kids - kinda stands out from the crowd of P2 and Japs counterpart |

I used to own a kia rio 1.4sx. Bought brand new in 2013 and sold it off in 2017. People who claim spare part problem is still living in dino era. This car is very well build for rm80k pricing. Don't believe, go and test drive. No other new car at that price range comes close to this car good NVH. Even going at above 160km/h feels planted as compared to city or vios. Please don't compare with myvi as it feels tin kosong and sound insulation is bad.
Only fault i can find in this car is the 4 speed auto gb and the 17inch wheel although i am not complaining coz it does look good. Part of the reason why the fuel economy may not be as good as vios or city. I am clocking about avg 11-12km per litre. |

Now with the updated 6 speed GB and with better HU i think this will be good alternatives for the usual Vios City.
I think TS shud get this instead coz currently too boring with the usual typical car on roads. |

I hate the skinny eco tires on City and Vios. ESP and ABS also become useless with these tires. Now better, 6-speed and 16", but could be better. One of the reason I choose Rio (the older UB) was the good safety features, complete with high performance 17 inch tires. Not to mention the sunroof and better ride. One of the reason why I choose it back then(2015) was because I'm not going to pay 10k more for a similarly equipped city. Yeah, City would be more economical on fuel but only clocked 13K in 3 years. So I paid less for the car, get 3 years free service, paid less for insurance renewal (no RV) etc. I actually think the newer one suck. Yeah, 6 speed is good but I don't think they should take away 17 inch rim, sunroof. If I'm worried about fc, I would buy a City. |

QUOTE(yeezai @ Nov 23 2018, 06:27 PM) If you driven a Toyota, you would love it's durability. It's also damn comfortable going over really bad roads. If you want better stability and ride, then City stiffer suspension would helps. Korean is for those who want to save some bucks. Not to say they cut corners, you do get more for what you paid for except for no RV and bad fc in city. Also you need to find non naza seller to get more discount. |

But they're much cheaper to replace, a key deciding factor for the target market. High replacement cost isn't something those with <rm100k budget on car afford. One of the reason I choose Rio (the older UB) was the good safety features, complete with high performance 17 inch tires. Not to mention the sunroof and better ride. Then the perception it'll mean stiffer ride, heavier too, with puny 1.4 N/A engine, not attractive proposition. A shame, cuz kia/hyundai have better NVH here overall than Japanese. My test drove experience back to back, and extended exposure in Honda civic tebu recently really made me question how much unseen things they skimped, but not Korean cars. It smitten me, i think I'd consider a used korean car next time, bad RV is an even bonus to me, give me more bargaining powet unlike Japanese stripped shitbox. |

Well, seriously i dont mind the 17 inch wheel back then as it was equipped with csc 5 tyres. That tyres is seriously overkill for its performance but i am not complaining as the tyre grip is superb. Yes the sunroof plays a vital part too and it have 6 airbags and euro ncap 5. Doubt city or vios can get euro ncap 5 back then.
I placed safety over rv anytime and thus, my obvious choice back then. |

QUOTE(tokdukun @ Nov 23 2018, 09:36 PM) But they're much cheaper to replace, a key deciding factor for the target market. High replacement cost isn't something those with <rm100k budget on car afford. Are you sure 16 inch tires are cheaper? Then the perception it'll mean stiffer ride, heavier too, with puny 1.4 N/A engine, not attractive proposition. A shame, cuz kia/hyundai have better NVH here overall than Japanese. My test drove experience back to back, and extended exposure in Honda civic tebu recently really made me question how much unseen things they skimped, but not Korean cars. It smitten me, i think I'd consider a used korean car next time, bad RV is an even bonus to me, give me more bargaining powet unlike Japanese stripped shitbox. |

QUOTE(andrekua2 @ Nov 24 2018, 12:06 PM) Generally they are cheaper.Eg I found out now they use 195/55/R16, a Toyo NE03 is RM215 : https://www.mudah.my/Tayar+Swift+Honda+CRZ+...16-56140716.htm If you change to something more common like 205/55/R16, there's much more choices and decent price for proper brands available. Previously 205/45/R17, a Toyo (not mentioned) is RM270, same shop : https://www.mudah.my/Tayar+Baru+Jazz+City+V...17-68451803.htm Of course there's cheaper option for this 17" size too, mostly weird brand rarely heard. Familiar brand that's cheaper is very limited, eg this Hankook for RM205 : https://www.mudah.my/Tyre+tayar+205+45+17+h...ok-56258216.htm But otherwise, other established like Yokohama, Dunlop, Michelin are way more premium. |

Get the picanto if you want a mini car. The rio is an over priced slow poke. Obviously you can see the rio owner's here have a higher fuel consumption at 12 to 14 compared to my cerato 10.3.
Where as those formers saying there's parts problem just wanna ask which year are you in now. |

Got one double din from XTRONS couple of years ago, it was a decent unit with all the features i needed, Android system, navigation, DAB,handfree, i sold my car so the unit was gone with the car. I kind of like XTRONS and think about getting a new unit from XTRONS, this PST90RO3K looks amazing, i have emailed xtrons customer service for some advice. |

Love my XTRONS unit too. Appealing looks. Great sound quality and performance. Many features and expandability options. It comes with equalizer bands, for the audio enthusiast, this will give you the granularity to tweak your sound at all frequency levels. XTRONS is an excellent choice and upgrade to your car stereo. They are reasonably priced

Hi all,
Am considering to get a small car for my daughter. Am interested with Picanto or Rio year make 2013-2014. May I know how's the availability of spare parts considering wear and tear would be more for a 10 yr old car. How reliable is Kia models? |

Spareparts are not an issue, at least for me. Only issue was the ECU (gear stuck at 3rd gear) and apart from that, nothing major. |

QUOTE(PugGuy @ Nov 24 2024, 11:27 PM) Too many Myvis around and not cheap even if 2nd hand. How is too many Myvis a downside? You get more spare parts supply and this also means there is better repair shops availability. You want to drive a reliable car or be unique? There is a price to pay for being special in owning a car.I like the the newer Kia design style. I also always thought and read that the newer Korean makes are quite reliable. Used to own a Hyundai Accent for 7 years, only did regular service. A Myvi is expensive? It's the most popular car in Malaysia, maybe it's highly sought after for a reason? When your daughter wants to upgrade and I think a Myvi will still fetch a good price whereas a Kia... Just be glad that if someone is even willing to take it off your hands. I have not owned a Hyundai or Kia but they do not have a good reputation. Their rep is so bad that the new accent / avante / sonata is nowhere to be seen. I am not sure about your thought process but you do you. This post has been edited by icycokes: Nov 25 2024, 12:50 AM |
