QUOTE(iluvena @ Jun 9 2007, 02:38 AM) u need it coz nowadays some applications are from microsoft.. ie ms office.. maybe it can spread from docs to docs.. regardless of the OS. but i dunno.. creating virus for windows are more fun i think coz of huge customer based. well even it is docs format. your mac system won't have many "effects" or side-effects. it's totally harmless, unless the virus is "cross-platform". I doubt it Usually virus/worms are .exe, so it's useless in mac system.

None not needed at all
Let me see
Even if i open that sites , It would not infect safari and let alone opening the .exe. So I am safe. No browser hijacking
ActiveShit + M$ VB = nope...It does not hijack
Firewall , yes its a must have . It does not matter if its OSX/Windows/*nix. All *nix system comes with a solid foundation . But again if you're hosting somethings. Its better to have Firewall. OSX comes with bulit-in firewall which is very good. If you have a router, you have a hardware firewall and you can safely switch the OSX firewall (unless you're paranoid)

I am that paranoid though.... I have my firewall on both hardware and OS.... as for AV, nah.... unless you're sharing files with a PC, you might be a virus carrier though....

If spotted unknown files or what, just delete it la. as simple as that.
