I have a "firewall" by virtue of NAT running on the router. I've not run an antivirus on the Mac since I switched to OSX in 2002 or in System 7/8/9 before that.

I never install any Antivirus for any of my Macs for the past 6 years. Needn't to waste $$ for such application.

For firewall, I just use the OSX built-in firewall plus the NAT in my Airport Extreme Base Router.

i don't install antivirus

BUT...

I think you can install to scan those documents and files you obtained from outside sources, then making sure that what u copy to other ppl is virus free. That's one of the better use of antivirus on mac machines I guess...

say.. u realize that OS X is based on *BSD? which means that the *BSD firewalls r also available on OS X by default (or at least one of them is, the IPFW firewall).

just go over to System Preferences, choose the Sharing icon, then u'll see a firewall tab there

Make sure all the files we have in the Mac are virus free before we transfer the files to Windows, agree? smile.gif

If the user uses Mac all the way down, then it's totally useless. tongue.gif
