Yes, AM2+ proc can be operated in AM2 mobo. It seems AM3 proc also might be compatible to be operated in AM2 mobo but AM2 proc cant operate in AM3 mobo.

I am afraid that even they produce 3GHz Phenom, the overclockability still are not sure. Let say Intel Penryn works ar 3.33GHz and the performance similar to Phenom 3GHz but when oc Penryn sure can get 4GHz easily while Phenom maybe far from possible.

well, its all speculation before a big product launch, either its gonna be like the R600 launch, which was over-hyped, like how it was suppose to beat G80's cores, but it wasnt up to expectation. ( yes ati fanboys, i am an ATi and nvidia user, so keep ur flaming to urself) or it could be a beginning to the new K10 Ice-age era pwnage for Intel
1st: It is a big launch for the company(AMD) as they had not introduced any recent new technology(K8 is almost 2yrs old) 2nd: With hypes like this, and if they do actually perform like what they claimed for phenom x4 and x2, what do you think would happen for AMD share prices in the NYSE? Either way it is to keep their share prices from dropping. 3rd: Competition is good for consumers as the prices gets slashed in a price war. 4th: It is all speculation till we see it in the store shelves and in our pc's. Or we get an ES to play around with(hint hint) |

You just have to love the codenames 940, 1207, Shanghai, Sandtiger, Hardcastle, Brubridge, Kite, Perseus, Puma, Bulldozer, Bobcat, Spider, Leo, Pinwheel and Cartwheel. LOL

Socket OMFGAMDSAUCE with the new 3.0ghz KAWAIII (3 "i"s stand for generation 3) quadcore processor.Yeah, I know, a lot of /b/s' childhood dreams. Anyway, Slayer, what makes you confident that Penryn can push up to 4? Intel expected Netburst to achieve 11Ghz. They stalled at a quater of it. Added with the fact that Intel quad procs like that might be bottlenecked if FSB doesn't go up again (and they do reportedly have problem pushing to 1600) And Phenom hasn't even got its 45nm shrink yet. (2008Q3?) For Barcelona it's needed. For Kuma (Dual) and RD790, 65nm should be their C2D. |

( yes ati fanboys, i am an ATi and nvidia user, so keep ur flaming to urself) or it could be a beginning to the new K10 Ice-age era pwnage for Intel u need to know that k10 is already in development since b4 they acquire ATI. alot of ppl saying that it will be the same fate as R600. i dun see any reason why it will b. since both development started b4 the acquisition. wats more, R600 isnt a failure product at all. it is target at mid high end market, and it pawns 8800GTS knees down. There is a difference between complete failure and not up to claimed expectations. 2nd, have u ever wondered why is there so much hype and PR work done before a product is launched? is for its share prices, even if the product wont perform like it is claimed, their prices wont drop too much, and if it does, it will skyrocket. So open ur eyes and wonder why is there so much hype and bullsh!t claims by either AMD, Intel, Nvidia and ATi, even if it does perform like its claim or it does not before a product launch. Dont speculate unless you have the thing on your hand or hard proof (meaning a taste of the hardware) and this is how they lead fanboys and investors along. (im an amd/intel and nvidia/ati user and im not bias coz they all are good in their own fields) 4th, If its nonsense, then can u show me real life usage and benchmarks of the processor? Ok, synthetic benchies are for bench junkies, ok then, do some real life usage tests with it, but problem is, Do you have it in ur hand to do that? if not then can u believe and rely on "previews" and preliminary benchmarks "leaked" by either of the processors or gfx giants when u cant even buy it yet? Like i said, all the hype and previews and preliminaries are all connected to my Statement Number 2. This post has been edited by bryanyeo87: Jul 27 2007, 08:04 PM |

look at this guys.
QUOTE You could play with them until you got bored, but no benchmarking was allowed. You could take pictures, go behind it, trace cables, and generally rearrange the machines on the table until you reached your tolerance level. what? any reason why benchmarking wasnt allowed? it's already near launch time, tomorrow is August. there must be something that prevent AMD from showing the benchmark numbers. |

its already outperform c2d at same frequency. But it seems to launch at speed lower than 2.5GHz and overclockability cannot be determined.
