I got a Q. Which one is better and faster, running at 2.8GHz with RAM timing of 4-4-4-12 or 3.0GHz with RAM timing 5-5-5-15?

No one can be sure, it depends on what program you're running. Programs which are ram bandwidth/latency sensitive will suffer from the 5-5-5-15 timing, while processor intensive applications will suffer from a lower clockspeed. Even games, some are known favour better ram performance while others benefit from more processor power. Its your call, up to you which is better for your use. Use benchmarks to help you make up your mind.
it's not juz to bring out the performance and for prime and bench...
it to supply the proc with enough power to maintain it's clock speed...
*
I see, thanks. Currently I'm running at 2.8GHz, RAM at 803 4-4-4-12. When I push to 2.9GHz, I need to change the RAM timing to 5-5-5-15, or else can't boot. Although fail in Orthos, but SuperPI calculation is better with 2.8GHz at tighter timings than 2.9GHz.

And agreed with 8tvt, as long it is great for my usage, I'm satisfied already thumbup.gif OCing is fun, as long it is stable enough for personal usage.

If based on cpu itself, I think Brisbane wins if having the same clock speed.

Windsor 3800+ 2.7GHz = 270x10
Brisbane 3600+ 2.7GHz = 285x9.5

Brisbane uses higher bus speed, therefore it performs better right? Correct me if I'm wrong. Still learning here blush.gif

can anyone share their oc settings for ta690g and x2 3600+ brisbane? im using with kvr ddr2 667 hynix FP-Y5 and stock hsf. prefer to use stock vcore. my bios is R69AM402.BST

anyway to get it around 2.5GHz? thanks
*
I'm not so sure about the BIOS, but I think you need to upgrade it. Not available it Biostar web though sweat.gif Need to google yourself, and I forgot the link. Get around 2.5GHz? I don't think it will be a problem though, easy job for brisbane smile.gif

the oc-ability of this bios is ok or not? is it possible for u to test it on AOE V12 or not? coz i might wanna flash it. thanks.
*
What's AOE V12? Sorry for noobness blush.gif

I'm using this BIOS, I think it is the latest. I think if you want to OC with TA690G, you will need to flash this BIOS as the default one doesn't have CnQ feature. Thus, you will OC but stuck with CnQ, and the multiplier will most likely around X5 sweat.gif

QUOTE(kalakatu @ Jul 8 2007, 02:23 PM)
thanks bro..will flash it and try  smile.gif
anyway got the multiplier feature inside?
*
Nope, no cpu multiplier though. Once disable CnQ, its multiplier will remain at X9.5

Brisbane user, how do check your temp like idle and load, especially in Vista?

And Gigabyte boards for AM2 doesn't provide full features for OCing. Correct me if I'm wrong though. Only experienced it from S2G tongue.gif

use lavalys ultimate edition..pm me for it foc =) and bro, how far u manage to OC ur processor? coz ur one is same batch num as mine leh  wink.gif ...manage to get it up to 303x9.5 =2878.5 on stock vcore
*
Everest didn't detect temp, not even Home Edition or Ultimate sweat.gif I manage to OCed stable at 2811MHz. I can push until 2907Mhz as well, fail in Orthos but still ok in windows. Push further than that, cpu make beeping sound. Currently, push 25% is enough for me. At least until I get a better PSU brows.gif

So that 3.2GHz is using ayam brand PSU?? Some more with 1.3v only while others at 1.4v at least. Maybe can only run it for a while, but later if at load, who knows sweat.gif

i've told already the trfc by default was set 75ns.. should set 105 atleast to gain more fsb.. for ur info standard KVR is 127ns..
this is quite unpopular coz the setting fall into the advance setting in bios.. and normally we mislooked it..
*
So trfc also plays part of reaching higher fsb?

@bryanyeo87: what about RAM, you change any vdimm? I must say I'm pretty jealous blush.gif and make me like "ergh I want money to buy better PSU!!" tongue.gif

looks like the trfc also plays a part of it =/...ofc i change the vdimm...i went max out at 2.3v lolz, that is the max my bios allowed though....and dun nid better psu..use chapalang psu like me xD nyahahahah XD
*
Hold on, what board are you using? vdimm options are 2.1, 2.2, 2.3 like that? Bcoz mine is like 2.15, 2.25 sweat.gif Don't know whether 2.25 counts as 2.2 or 2.3, but once set 2.25, at BIOS Health and Status shows 2.20 though. Later will try again, currently too busy and in need of using the whole PC tongue.gif

you actually believed there is Athlon X2 and it's not Athlon64 X2 with typo error?  shocking.gif
*
So is it Athlon64 X2 or a typo error of Athlon X2? Check out here bro, but pls do correct me if I'm wrong. If wiki itself, might be a typo, but amd.com? I don't think so

http://www.amd.com/us-en/Processors/Produc...5E13076,00.html

But with TDP of 45W kinda do the attraction. Any news about its OCability?

I must be left behind blush.gif

But it's just a name anyway. AMD is soon releasing Phantom ... so having '64' in the name is too gimick-ish.
*
Again, it is Phenom tongue.gif

Yeah, probably the name is just a gimmick though blush.gif Yes, it is confirmed. Operating mode 32/64, that means the name is just a gimmick tongue.gif

But I can't find its ocability, is it released yet? Some said its potential is similar with 3600+ Brisbane, only difference is its uses lesser watt

Later Phenom X2 also comes with 45W TDP for lower models thumbup.gif

QUOTE(dreaming @ Jul 11 2007, 12:06 AM)
But today when i start my pc, it show me some weird sympton...
this msg appear in CMOS --> "warning!! your system running safe mode. please setup CPU host clock"

when i press F1 to continue, window can load but the processor speed was back to 1.9GHZ.

when i restart it and check in bios, the CPU FSB show in bios still is 290MHZ... after reboot
msg --> "warning!! your system running safe mode. please setup CPU host clock" still appear in CMOS
and when load into window, it still show 1.9GHZ and CPUZ show 200x9.5.

then i have to reset bios to default by using load optimise default;
msg --> "warning!! your system running safe mode. please setup CPU host clock" disappear from CMOS when boot; and i have to set FSB, 200, 220, 250, 270, 290 and restart for few times to get my window load at 2.75GHZ.... crazy...  rclxub.gif

i'm not sure where was wrong.... izzit coz by bios version?
help...  icon_question.gif
*
IINM, if that kind of msg appears, if you choose to continue (F1), you'll load in Safe Mode. Or am I wrong? As for me, I don't dare to continue if that msg appears. I'll enter BIOS again, play around and exit. Will do the same thing until the msg disappears. If it still doesn't, then I lower bus a bit

8tvt,
The latest BIOS has cpu multiplier? You said that the multiplier is X9, X10 something like that but no 'half˛'. Does that mean our Brisbane is not using X9.5 anymore? sad.gif Since X10 is impossible because max is X9.5, but use X9 doesn't make the GHz high sweat.gif

i think what he mean was the new bios does not support half-multiplier options. but probably u will still have 9.5x multi when running default speed.
*
I see. By default, we still running at x9.5, but if we choose to change the cpu multiplier, the only option is those numbers with no +0.5 in the back notworthy.gif

Let say I've OCed my cpu, can I just flash the BIOS just like that? I mean in DOS, not windows or do I need to downclock, and start all over again?

awdflash? how's that?

I flash from upgrade BIOS in BIOS tongue.gif Insert diskette or pendrive (don't know which it detects because I plug in both), upgrade BIOS, settle
