Dear all, my daughter (about 1 month old now) recently refuse to sleep at night. Sometimes she is crying no matter whether you put her down on her bed or even when you hug her in your arm.

She gave me signal that she is hungry (keep on opening her mouth and show me her tongue), for example, I already gave her 2.5oz formula milk, she finished all the milk, but she refused to sleep. 30 minutes later, she will start crying and show me the hungry signal again, then I will give her another 1oz in case she is really hungry. But.....another 30 minutes, she show the signal again!!!

I don't think a newborn baby can get hungry that fast, sometimes if I give her too much, she will vomit some milk out even though we have already done the "Burping" exercise.

I really out of idea now, is there anyone here can provide me some advice?

i think still not settled down. just need to put up with it. hopefully after 2 months will be better. some are good sleepers, some are not at night. if you can keep them awake during the day, they sleep better at night. however 1 month is still to young. i remembered that i need to change the diapers everytime cry at night. after new diaper will sleep better. but maybe the air is cold so diaper feel cold

u dont breastfeeding?

they will get hungry fast cos their stomach is small and can only hold so much milk. also they do urinate and berak and they are not eating solid food to make them kenyang longer. bear with it, u'll get used to it.

or sometimes she might not be comfortable so they wakes up. is the room cool enough?

or maybe she suffers from kembung perut? rub their stomach with yu yee oil.

To be honest, she sleep quite well during day time. No matter how you move/shake her, she also refused to wake up. I tried to play with her yesterday from 7pm-11pm, but she just didn't want to wake up. Eyes close all the time unless she is hungry which the time gap is around 2.5 hours. But night time, her eyes open big big even though I feed her 2.5oz - 3oz


My wife got wake up to pump breast milk, but for whatever reason, the production is very low (each time maximum 2-3 oz). Hence, normally baby day time drink breast milk, night time drink formula milk.

is quite normal for new born, my daughter cried for 3 months non stop at night until she is tired then she will sleep when she is one month, some people said it was due to colig, I am not sure, I tried all the possible ways, some elder people said maybe they starting to explore but that should be around 3 months old.

if she suck direct from your breast, will she sleep?

But when she cried out loud, I worry too much wind will go into her stomach which will even make her more uncomfortable. She always did her "big business" at midnight, 3-4 times during the night time. Day time doesn't want to do "business" at all.

Very difficult to suck direct from the breast, low production rate, sometimes she doesn't want to latch.

then u have to rescheduled her bedtime. its hard as she is just infant , so take slowly to wake her up . example try to sleep her from 6pm-10pm and decrease or shorter sleeping . please note not all child is the same , if she like to sleep at that hours then nothing we can do , just pray the best for our child and play with her along.

still like that , need to persuade him to sleep for almost an hour 11pm-12am and after feed then only sleep

I think yours is much better, my daughter can be awake from 1am to 5am and refuse to sleep.

try to put her into a rocker.
my boy same as urs the first month. once discharge from confinement centre
did not want to sleep in new environment. lucky friend gave us a rocker and put into use

TS, sorry I do not have solution for you but here's an out of topic question:

When your wife was pregnant, did your baby act the same in her tummy? I mean did baby kick and swirl more actively at night and less active in the day?
I am worried now as friends told me their schedule in the womb very much the same when after they were born.

My wife don't really want to use rocker as she doesn't want the baby to have any reliance on rocker in the future.

Music is always on when she is sleeping. But not really working for my daughter.

Actually it is not. When the baby still in mummy's tummy, she normally very active in the morning (9-10am) and evening (8pm-9pm). Normally is after food then she will be very active. But now she is active during midnight, ie. 2am to 5am.

may i know what time ur baby was born...sometimes when a baby was born during daytime then at night time they will sleep and when a baby was born in at night so the night is their wake up hours and the day is their sleeping hours....

in our case, after my wife breastfed our baby, she held her in arms until baby falls into deep sleep, then only put on bed.
usually is the safety and warmth feeling that the baby is missing. try it.

oh on side notes, dont bother about the breast feeding talks or taboo that they force you to use only breastmilk, as long as your wife is giving breastfeed, a bit of formula is okay to supplement the hunger.
