Some expert from the FD thread tipped me to invest in ASx instead. So I've read the first post and a few others.

anyone managed to buy, say 5000 units of one of the nonbumi (I'm Chinese, so no 30k ASM3 quota) fixed price funds (ASM, ASM2, ASM3) in a month other than right after the dividend date? I see some of you managed to buy like 100-1000 units after a lot of tries.

Someone I know has 25k of ASM1 now after some selling (and no, subsequent selling won't goto any of you or me because her siblings are eyeing them already). Got them at 15k when it was launched after queuing up for 5 hours.

I think you answered my question. However, in a more practical manner (as in, no one can do that 24x7 without sacrificing his/her life. most probably best effort in buying), anyone managed to buy 5000 units in a month?

Oh yeah, I saw that about ASM. Sorry that I wasn't specific enough. If only 1000 units a month, I think I'll stick with those 4.x% FD promos (just lazy to transfer from bank to bank).

Alright, thanks a lot bros! Good to see some positive results. As long as dividend not lower than promotional FD (ignoring a bit of risk), I'm ok. Will save me a lot of efforts next year onwards.

I'll definitely give a try. Tomorrow (or today if you see 12am+ = Monday) I'll open account first. If no Fixed Price available, I'll go for $10 or $100 variable price.

haha 2.5k somemore. I forget increase FPX limit, missed the 500 units.

oh I just managed 100 units just now after many tries. Very fast snapped up.

Edit : after a lot of tries, finally managed total 1000 units. Duit habis. wait for payday now.

thanks a lot sis and bros. If 1 day can get this amount, I think considered very good already. Time spent equivalent of going to bank, move funds, do new FD (and a minor risk in fixed price UT) - at the comfort of doing this in front of the computer.

I never know got such a thing, that's why never ventured in. I always thought UT price will go up down and then there is like 3%+ commission when I wanted to sell. Oh well, better late than never. Just earned less from FD with a lot more efforts.

The ones you listed are specifically for the sites mentioned, like IRCTC, and a couple more for some .IN sites

Just call up or goto nearby agent banks and ask first. I don't know if there are branches that can't do this. I went to one nearby that wasn't even listed here and they can open.

Make sure you read all the tips in first post. When bank say no units available, you have to tell them to buy the variable price unit just to keep your account open. Me bank told me can open account without buying but don't know how long it stays open.

EPF if your account already close to 1m or don't foresee needs to withdraw. 100% backed by govt and dividend higher than ASNB FP (on top of my head) and no need fight to buy the limited supply.

actually, i always feel it's cheaper to do your own will and appoint your own executor.

challenge is who's so trustworthy.

For this, I don't know if funds in ASNB must use their Will service or can use own one. I think it's cheap compared to Amanah Raya's.

I think if buy and sell (trading) stock then yes tax. if buy, keep, sell then no tax. Didn't manage to check how to differentiate this clearly though.

as far as I know, yes. Since EPF is mandatory, I'd say if no EPF no contribution then no tax. better to ask tax accountants.

Read the first post. Spend $100 buy variable priced fund to get your account opened. Then open online account and try buy yourself. Have to pay with FPX though, so make sure your online banking FPX is ready.

1. Get friends & family to supplement credit card to you

2. use EPF statement to apply, if there's a healthy balance/sufficient dividend = income as well.

3. A bank told me, deposit MYR1m (FD or other products) then dont need any supporting docs.

4. Some banks accept pledging of FD.
