May I know where u download or install the rootless pixel launcher? I tried few but not working, it just crashes whenever I switch to it.
*
I googled it and downloaded from github. It is available in play store too.

Before you set it as default launcher, you need to go into settlings and enable notification access, app permission then only set it as default.

I wrapped the phone in pavilion Huawei branch. 128 for the front only. Similar to clear coat.

I contacted Huawei Malaysia support center and have logged a ticket with them. They will contact me in within 3 working days. Hopefully can refund because if screen replacement to BOE one, the waterproof seal would be compromised. Not worth. One to one exchange on the other hand doesn't promise a good unit as the issue doesn't surface until few days usage like mine.

Green tint is visible on the top now.

Could you link the source that the BOE screen has a waterproof seal issue? Thanks
*
Any phone repair that opens up the phone will definitely loosen up the seal. It will not be tight air sealed like machine does. Sure it will be under warranty still but I definitely don't want a repair unit which fault isn't mine to begin with. Depends on your acceptance level.

Hi, iirc ur unit from telco? What option they provide to you? Refund/1 to 1 replacement?
*
Contacted Maxis rep and they told me to contact Huawei since its manufacturer defect.

They didn't offer provide any resolution. Just logged a ticket for me and say they will contact me in 3 days time. Right now its still bearable but with the 2 off color lines from the sides and the notch is also fading.. I can't accept anymore. It grows everyday. BTW my batch number is LG 51. I heard 43 and 51 got issues

Yeap mine also 51, the greeny only appear after a week n growing rapidly it seems like, do update me the outcome though, I'll make a contact to them also ltr. You call this number right? 1-800-22-0086
*
I didn't call through that number. I chatted with their agent via Hicare live chat. Quite efficient in responding.

From zero first 3 days, then very little by little growing.
*
Yours is worse than mine. I noticed dark gray background reveals the most discoloration.

QUOTE(gailfriz @ Nov 6 2018, 02:49 PM)
Ahh I see. Thought you meant a 1 to 1 exchange from LG to a BOE unit.
*
Let's wait for Huawei Malaysia official announcement on this. Hopefully they will do a recall but definitely will taint their reputation.

Just now Huawei Malaysia called me and asked us to directly bring our devices to Pavilion or berjaya service centers for advice. She kept telling me there is no official news yet but asked to snap pictures and show to the staff

Bring for advice meant?

Not sure what she meant. Think maybe she just wanna close the ticket logged and ask us to go the service center to sort out ourselves because she kept emphasize that there is no further instructions from the HQ. Just have to wait and see with the more severe case.

After seeing so many green tints pictures.. I guess mine is not so severe as some of u guys.

Those did not have issue, can snap pictures from the side? Mine is slight green with more off white discoloration. Now not sure if I should send in for RMA or just continue praying it won't get worse.

Okay. But just feel disappointed with the phone suddenly.. I mean I came from curve screen family and never had such issues. Sides remained pitch black.

Comes to think of it, why Lowyat.net doesn't cover this story yet?
*
So need to leave the phone for how long?

Guys, i'm afraid the green light issue is normal, this is the limitation from LG screen, that why Samsung very proud of their AMOLED screen. you can refer my post earlier the comparison of iPhone X Max which is using Samsung.

But unless the green light is very terrible else you can't really get replace.
*
So in this case, this will not only affect m20p but also the mate 20 and the x series if they are using LG panel?

Suddenly i feel ripped off for a device which cost RM3699 that considers green tint as normal..................... Samsung mid-range display doesn't even have such issue.

BTW, is P20 pro using LG panel too? I really believed this is something to deal with GLUE since the discoloration and green tint is coming out from the curve sides.

Mid range no curve screen la aiyo...

I also have green, but is minimal.
To be honest, rarely notice the screen.

Those photo you guys post, really serious. And makes me wonder that is a green picture. Haha...

My M20P also LG screen.
*
They were saying this is normal for oled screen. Not indicating whether is curve or not curve.

I am more a technical person. I hope the information that I provided sufficient to provide you guys a better idea of what is actually happening.

I don't have the severe edge green bleeding that you guys talking about. It is weird.

My brother P20 Pro vs my Mate 20 Pro. (Mine is LG panel)
Photo took by iPhone 7 Plus.

[attachmentid=10098557]

Left is P20 Pro
Right is Mate 20 Pro.
P20 Pro top are greenish.
Mate 20 Pro overally are greenish.

But if you look closely, Mate 20 Pro is not Green. It is lack of blue color.
To prove that I am right.

I used some apps (Color Detector) to measure the image RGB,

[attachmentid=10098567]
[attachmentid=10098568]

P20 Pro RGB is (50, 56, 44) (High green, low blue)
Mate 20 Pro RGB is (63,66, 73) (High blue, green and red nearly same)

It looks like what I need to do for my Mate 20 Pro to become the color like P20 Pro is to changing the display color temperature to a "Cooler" color.

Too bad the display temperature that allow us to config in the Display settings can't drastically tune the display color temperature.

So, I was thinking, It is like software issue in stead of hardware. I might be wrong.

And photo looks more obvious than naked eye.
*
I like your detailed experiment and explanation.

It maybe partly true but what about the spreading? To me, it's more of something is happening inside the screen.

Well it's the same standard across manufacturers. samsung reduced the red hue due to issue with pink tint back then in galaxy s8 / s8 plus. Same goes to google - reduce brightness by 50nits on pixel 2 xl due to burnin issue.

While I agree this shouldn't happen at the first place, and Huawei should handle it better, i believe we rarely use our device at the dimmest display at all time. My suggestion for now is just overcome it by increase brightness a lil bit, enjoy the phone normally while waiting for Huawei MY to release a statement. Remember, despite the screen issue, mate 20 pro is still an amazing device.
*
Even without using the phone in the dimmest display, I can see the discoloration at both sides clearly. The green tint is not very visible but its the two white bars.. I feel agigitated looking at it. Feeling to sell the phone now not knowing if I can even claim any warranty seeing there are many worse conditions phones out there.
