Black MyVi looks ok since the A pillar still intact. However, the green MyVi is a real goner. RIP.
I wonder why some people just plain ignorant. Smaller cars do not have the same crash capabilities as bigger cars despite having the same number of airbags. If a Kancil collide with a BMW, there is a 80% chance the driver of the BMW will walk away without a scratch. However, none could be said for the Kancil driver. So, be safe. Drive carefully. The roads in Cyberjaya have claimed many lives (esp students). This post has been edited by acbc: Jun 4 2007, 05:54 PM |

This is what happens when ppl make use of the EFI, DVVT, DOHC without realizing that they are actually in a "tin can" version of a Toyota/Daihatsu...

More and more people here talkcock:
"If use Savvy sure won't die" Can you even proof that when the collision occurs from ABOVE ??? "If use BMW sure chances of survival higher" Again, did they use crash test dummy on VERTICAL force from ABOVE??? "Iswara is tested if vertical force 6 floor also won't hancur" There's shock absorber, tire and damper on the car's bottom, what do you have for the 4 tiny pillar, on top? "Myvi brake no good" + "No ABS lah" Even ABS or brake got it's operating limit. If it's going beyond its stated specifications, it won't be capable at stopping the car. ABS or EBD, same story unless it's fitted with a Carbon disc, 2-pot caliper by Brembo or other racing spec braking system. BASED ON THE STATEMENT GIVEN IN THE ARTICLE, IT CAN BE CONCLUDED THAT: The Apple Green Myvi is going beyond the speed limit. There's a phantom taxi that make legal/illegal U-turn. The tragedy came when the Green Myvi hit the divider, then to a signboard, together both flew and turned 180 degrees and landed ceiling-on-ceiling on top of the unlucky(lucky) Black Myvi before more sommersaults into the pavement with trees and stopped there. By the way, it's a TOTAL COINCIDENCE that the KOed driver is named LIM KOK WENG, so close to LimKokWing University there. Drive savely, if you think by driving a Savvy or Beemer could save you from the same tragedy and a license to speed, think again. |

Ahahah u should say if one thinks a Savvy or Beemer could save them from the same tragedy - try it then proof to us by coming back here n post after the incident. Its very true that no car manufacturer has tested any collisions from the top coz its kinda rare or should I say it shouldn't happen at all if everyone were actually drivers? I see ppl thinking of a car as a toy n the road as his race track n his grandpa owns the road.

That stretch of road at Cyberjaya, is not really a good place for speeding. (believed to have penunggu la, i heard, dun ask me from who) A lot of accidents happened in that road, especially a corner before the LKW if you are coming from Puchong.
So try not to speed la, even if you know the road well. Its a waste if die like that, isnt it? |

omg man..wat an unfortunate accident.
Hypermount seems to be very happy when other cars than savvy get into terrible accidents and preferably deaths happen. Why these ppl cant ever understand that speeding kills.. they want to experience it first hand is it? Driving a BMW or a Merc at high speed will also kill you in even of an accident...what more a Myvi...or a savvy even. @kcng "the driver of the green myvi masuk goal..." Do you have to say that?! The papers say "kelmarin" got the car which was...2 days ago?
Now totally written off..thats sad man.. so now she can think of getting a Savvy instead of another myvi coz its tougher? "Lu jangan beli myvi ooo..u tengok jadi macam ini.. Kalo beli Savvy..pasti No Prob...kerana kita ada BEBD! Backup Emergency Brake Disti. " |

Perhaps the 'green/gold' MyVi driver were driving fast, and the taxi suddenly came in front of him (mostly will happen in Malaysia that cars suddenly turn into the lane), he tries to avoid it... and end up like this.
This picture is not about who is tougher. It just remind us don't speed. Weird that when hypermount posted any accident pictures, people just goes "xyz vs Savvy" or "her vs him" arguments... |

I feel pity to the driver of the Gold Myvi. A moment of silence ...
The black Myvi is a new one. Also sad for her. She's innocent. This post has been edited by David83: Jun 5 2007, 12:00 AM |

QUOTE(acbc @ Jun 4 2007, 05:54 PM) Black MyVi looks ok since the A pillar still intact. However, the green MyVi is a real goner. RIP. Dude, the black Myvi's A-pillar is completely crushed as well, look at the pic again carefully...I wonder why some people just plain ignorant. Well as previously i was a student in MMU cyber, there another accident which i think the worst accident in cyberjaya where during a wet afternoon a wira with 5 ppl crashes into a pole, killing all 4 but the driver. All these are students of LUCT and its believe dthe driver was speeding 100-160++ during a heavy rainstorm.
See, its stupidly that kills. |

that place is memang one lar.. curvy roads and sweeping corners n slope
the prob is a lot of ppl make illegal u-turns here and there .. especially taxi drivers. They assume not many cars using that road, yes memang not many cars use that road, but when there's a car, it usually comes very fast. There are sections which is an uphill and goes to downhill so when u're driving uphill u can't really see what's on the other side awaiting, might be somebody's car broke down or some dumbass make illegal u-turn |

that's the result of reckless speeding...
i think adding speedtraps won't make much of difference in terms of people actually driving fast there... just that more saman oni... and if that's the case, would adding speed bumps do any good? just my 2 cents anyway, since i've only been there once, so i dun really remember the condition of the road is... |

QUOTE(LanEvo7 @ Jun 5 2007, 04:26 PM) that place is memang one lar.. curvy roads and sweeping corners n slope Actually, that road is really unsafe lo... There is a part where the road suddenly narrows down one. Due to the narrowing of the road, they (the officials) have to redraw the lines on the road. BUT THEY DID NOT REMOVE THE OLD LINES causing confusion among drivers. I'm a regular driver there and there are a few times, the other drivers followed the OLD LINES and nearly cause an accident there.the prob is a lot of ppl make illegal u-turns here and there .. especially taxi drivers. They assume not many cars using that road, yes memang not many cars use that road, but when there's a car, it usually comes very fast. There are sections which is an uphill and goes to downhill so when u're driving uphill u can't really see what's on the other side awaiting, might be somebody's car broke down or some dumbass make illegal u-turn |

i doubt a benz or bmw or whatever would've done much good. i've seen S-class Mercedes cars sliced in half crosswise and lengthwise after colliding at speed with trees. doesn't need to be a big tree, even one about 20cm in diameter will do if you're going fast enough.
speed kills, no two ways about it. doesn't matter if you're in a proton or a benz or whatever. i like to speed once in a while, this sort of thing really makes one reconsider life's priorities. is it really worth risking this to get to a destination 5-10 minutes or even 30-60 mins faster? Well, the survival rate of getting banged in a Benz is definitely better than in a Kancil. .. in a normal accident. Let's not talk about trees speed kills, no two ways about it. doesn't matter if you're in a proton or a benz or whatever. i like to speed once in a while, this sort of thing really makes one reconsider life's priorities. is it really worth risking this to get to a destination 5-10 minutes or even 30-60 mins faster? I don't understand why people say, "if you're going to die, you're going to die". It's like seatbelts, airbags, SIPS, EBD, ABS, etc, all are useless. Maybe those people are Christians/Islams becos to them everything is decided by God. An interesting observation: most people who speed are the ones who mod their cars the most. Isn't it strange that after modding the car into something you like best, you still have the urge to rush to your destination as fast as possible? It's like the driver can't stand being in the car... |

QUOTE(Chyan @ Jun 6 2007, 10:10 PM) u cannot control whats going to happen right?.....so cannot blame on speed or control....even some other car is gonna crash into u even if u drive safely...... You really think driving at 120km/h and at 60km/h produce the same probability of crashing? It's all about chances. Drive like maniac = chance of accident high. Drive safely = chance of accident low. |

You should know when and where is the right time/place to speed.
Highways with blind spots or notorious corners, you should be careful. Like on the north south expressway, there are stretches that you can really floor, but some stretches you should not even think of flooring. |

the green MYVI must be driving at least 120kmph when the taxi u-turns, if he's driving 80-100kmph, there's little chance the car will "FLY" if he uses his brakes.....emergency braking will reduce the speed from 100kmph to around 90/85kmph even if it's just 1 second, he'll hit everything, but at least the car won't lift off
or the incident happened too fast and he doesn't even have time to react, hence, no braking has been applied |

And i usually travel at about 70km/h when exiting the highway, or about 100-120kmh when going back from MMU lol, i'm so reckless. Ahh....must slow down now, since got "penunggu"

bashing attempt thwarted!
allow me. the front of cars are usually made softer than the rest of the car. based on the physics formula: F=(mv-mu)/t the longer the impact time, the less the momentum acting on the object. so, by making crumple zones, the time of impact will be lengthened, and since F is inverse proportional to t, the overall force acting on the car will be reduced. he means the force/impact is inversely proportianol to the time it takes so in turn if the force is applied for a longer time, the impact will be less as it decreases wif time...rite?

impulse = change of momentum per time
F = ^m / t loosely translated, the change in velocity (c.o.momentum) is the same since it is (velocity at impact -> decelerating to 0), but we can vary the time taken for the deceleration (t)..by making the c.o.m divided by a larger time (t) value, the force (F) experienced by passengers in the car is lessened. one effective way of increasing t value is to make sure there's a crumple zone. |

correction: older volvos are made like a brick.
last time there were no research done on crumple zones, so the carmakers decided to make the cars as stiff as possible. while this made the car 'safer' so to speak, but the driver will suffer more in an accident, as the impact is not dissipated efficiently. so, you want your car to be saved or yourself to be saved? |

QUOTE(nerd @ Jun 11 2007, 10:26 AM) correction: older volvos are made like a brick. You mean last time Volvo has been touted as one of the safest cars around, they're actually the worst?!last time there were no research done on crumple zones, so the carmakers decided to make the cars as stiff as possible. while this made the car 'safer' so to speak, but the driver will suffer more in an accident, as the impact is not dissipated efficiently. so, you want your car to be saved or yourself to be saved? |

It beats me why Volvo and not other cars like Audi, VW, Skoda, BMW, Benz, etc. |

QUOTE(Dannyl @ Jun 11 2007, 10:35 AM) You mean last time Volvo has been touted as one of the safest cars around, they're actually the worst?! definitely not last time there were NO crumple zones, and cars were built like cans, while Volvos were more stiff and rigid. doesn't that make Volvo one of the safest?
