Where do you source the timbers? Local or outside of Malaysia?

Everything. Wanna know how to budget for flooring, wall panel and furniture. I saw some houses that opt for wooden ceiling as well.

My carpenter have his own local suppliers for all timbers. Some of the wooden texture ceiling could be wallpaper.

MUJI in Japanese, translates as “no-brand quality goods.” It's low-cost but using high-quality products. Furthermore, it creates functional space with uncomplicated design and color. MUJI uses natural materials and neutral colors to make it look harmonious and neat.

I don't think it will still be low cost in Malaysia. Unless the timber is sourced locally.

In Japan where it originates from, it's cheap and affordable brand. There's plenty of timber there. Well maintained and regulated timber industry for local consumption.

So if people wants to replicate just the concept and sources local timber, it may be more affordable than importing Japan's timber from Japan.

Well said! Furthermore, timber is the low cost to do furniture compare to aluminum and glass. In the future, it can refurbish by applying new paint or shellac/lacquer. Besides that, you can DIY some furniture without any special and expensive tools. Using timber as furniture also has its disadvantage. The biggest enemy of timber is termite. So please be aware when using timber in wet places. thumbup.gif

Hi there,

It's ok bro icon_rolleyes.gif

First of all, I did not say Muji style is cheap.. Every style and concept has its own characteristic. The cost depends on the client's budget and what can the designer do it for their client. I have a client that bought IKEA stuff that costs only Rm59 if not mistaken and apply it to the concept (attachment below). As long as you can match it to the concept everything will look nice. You can have an eclectic style by using low-cost material and minimalist with expensive material. Cost budgeting really depends on yourself. biggrin.gif
