This section is what you're supposed to see if you can log into the telecomadmin account of your supplied ONT to change it to bridge mode.

Try using this irreversible-cipher method on the encrypted password of your telnet telecomadmin account login which you dumped.

Just a friendly advise and suggestion. Save yourself all the trouble if you can wait 1-2 working days, just email them with the request to turn your modem into bridge more, your account pw and login to make things black and white followed by a call.

Better not attempt to crack your modem's root admin account, it might void your warranty for breaching your ISP's T&C.

If you've spent so many days requesting this, I don't see that your real intention was to chg your modem to bridge mode, you're intending to use the Time's supplied modem for something else.

It only took me JUST ONE call to make the technician make the changes on the spot over the line.
I REFUSE to end the call/put down the phone until the changes has been made.

Me too. Got the bridge mode enabled on the spot. Apparently this is the first for the gal configure bridge mode remotely follow step by step guide. Luckily all went well. Phew... rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif  rclxms.gif

After that I need to set Internet VLAN=499 at my own router to complete the PPoE credential pass thru.  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif  icon_idea.gif

They've started to use VLAN switching on Time network now?

Not surprised since they're now sharing their network with DiGi and ASTRO broadband as well..

Got my time installed, the installer told me no need to call TIME to change to bridge mode if i want to use my own router, he said just configure my router to become access point mode. Is there any downside on that?

Your situation is like being served the main meal as appetizer and the mouth opener/tidbit snack as the main course. laugh.gif

Or You bought a large 60" Android TV just to use as a CCTV surveillance monitor and use the small 24" PC monitor as your living hall entertainment TV?

You just don't buy a more expensive third party router with more powerful CPU inside just to turn it into a dumb wireless access point(AP)/unmanaged switch by forwarding all traffic through the inferior ISP supplied router for processing.

EDIT:
If I were you, I'd call TIME up and provide the name of the installer and give a terrible rating for your installation. He's just trying to pull a fast one and shortcut excuses to make his own work easy.

A little more context, TIME is giving a 2 in 1 device which at most modern high rise setup, it sits in a box where it is closed up so the WIFI signal won't reach certain rooms for sure, at best it can do is to reach the kitchen/living area.

To solve this I have to pay extra for TIME huawei mesh node or I buy my own device and connect it to the LAN port at the living area so my WIFI signal is good to cover the entire house, so that's where the installer said just configure your device as AP mode and that will solve the issue.

As I am just a simple user and not looking for any advanced router with heaps of features, just want to find out besides enhancing the signal what other benefits i get if i decide to use it as main router instead

If that is just what you want to cover blindspots in your house at the same time want easy maintenance of your TIME supplied router with built in ONT, then you shouldn't be looking at an additional router and go through all the hassle requesting it to be turned into bridge mode.

What you need is a good repeater/wireless AP. Consider a better enterprise grade one which costs much less than a router and place it in blind-spots in your home to extend wireless coverage. Preferably you can wire them with ethernet cables.

The function of a wireless AP is just like a wired unmanaged switch except it connects WIRELESSLY instead of using cables. All routing and account access is still handled by the TIME router with built in ONT.

It is wired via ethernet cables, laid by developer already. Any recommended AP ?

If all you want is cover blindspots get those from reputable China brands such as Comfast, Tenda, Wavlink or TP-Link will do.
