Looking for a good dashcam. Parking mode and GPS is not important to have. Should I get the Chinese version and then flash it to english myself?

There are other cheaper cams out that with basic function. What advantage does this 70mai pro have over others?
*
Better you go look for a dashcam that is using supercapacitor.

The 70mai Pro is using lithium battery inside. And not recommended to use in hot countries.

what will happen?
*
Lithium battery in hot weather will get spoilt faster causing it to unable to hold a charge or charge, will get bloated, might start leaking or worst case explodes.

QUOTE(coo|dude @ Jan 30 2019, 01:26 PM)
How to flash to the English version?
*
Need to get hold of the English firmware file and copy to the microSD card then turn on the dashcam to update.

@bluejoey, can recommend some good and cheap camera that uses supercapacitor?

edit: found one that is famous with decent price for super capacitor, I guess. BlueSkySea B1W. Around RM160.

ADAS feature is not very accurate, is not worth to buy it.
I own one with ADAS. Test it along highway from KL to JB.
Sometime it prompt accurately, sometime it keep quiet.
I think is the GPS detection which block it from function well.
*
Still a long way to go to be as accurate as Korean dashcam like Thinkware. Even the iRoad TX9 is almost as accurate as my Thinkware F800 Pro.

anyone did hardwire installation with this dashcam? i bought hardwaire kit but forgot to buy the fuse socket.
*
You'll need a tester to test which fuse is ACC and Batt.

Then fuse taps for the fuses that your car uses.

Lots of videos on Youtube.

thanks for the advise. question: if i hardwire this 70mai dashcam, will it enter parking mode and use car's batt instead of dashcam's batt?
*
Did you get this original 70mai 3 wires hardwire kit?

https://shopee.com.my/-ORIGINAL-70MAI-PRO-C...5420.1668434500

3 wires for parking mode use. While 2 wires is more to power the dashcam when on engine.

all sifus,

for parking mode, is the cam using own battery or it will continue to draw from car battery even the car engine is off?

thanks in advance.
*
If not hardwire kit then from own battery. If with hardwire kit then will be from your car battery.

Guys i have a small problem here. When i drive in the morning the sun is very bright then my windscreen will have reflaction which will make my dash cam blur and cant really see number plate. I tried to adjust but cant really avoid it. Any solution?
*
Reflection is normal for any cam.

You can get CPL filter and put on the lens. Reduce the reflection and glare a bit.

Is it okay for the dashcam to get very hot under the weather. I mean is it designed to take such heat in malaysia ?
*
All dashcam will get hot when recording.

But the lithium-ion battery maybe can last 1-2 years in Malaysian heat.

Better to get a dashcam using a super capacitor instead of a lithium-ion battery.

Thanks for so many review, very useful at least learn lots of things.

Actually considering this vs Viofo A129, yeah I know not apple to apple comparison as Viofo dual cam and super capacitor.
Dilemma actually, as 70mai Pro looks quite good overall, and it's almost 4 times cheaper than Viofo A129.
Even if lithium break down after 2 years, you can replace it 4 times to match Viofo price. Is the battery consideration that important?

Btw, I don't park under sun 99% of the time, so exposure to sun only while driving, not sure how much that will affect lithium battery though
*
The lithium battery will start to gets faulty after around 1-2 years. You also need to consider that lithium battery might not be able to keep a charge or gets bloated or leaking or worst case explodes.

You get the A129 Duo using supercapacitor will at least guarantee it won't break down that much.

Please do consider if you can easily find the battery replacement in malaysia and you were able to replace it by yourself. Then no doubt 4x saving.

If the battery spoil, I can remove it and it will still work as usual when I power up my car right ? Or the battery will somehow fuse the entire cam
*
The battery is there to provide power to save the last video file when you off your engine and save the dashcam's settings like date and time. Without it, corrupted last video file and settings reset back to factory default.

You'll need to open the dashcam to see if the battery is solder on the board or plug via a socket.
