Anybody have any experience with eSim? Maxis offered eSim for the Huawei Watch 2.
https://www.maxis.com.my/en/personal/plans/...plans/esim.html Samsung Galaxy Watch (Sept 2018) comes in the LTE version which carries the eSim card embedded. Am keen to try this, if it arrives. lols |

I think you need to wait Maxis or whatever telco to announce the option. Plus the dual sim function will only be available on a later update https://support.apple.com/en-my/HT209044

Digi
Digi eSIM is available to all customers on Digi Postpaid, Digi Prepaid, & Digi Broadband plans. U Mobile Prepaid and Postpaid customers are eligible for U Mobile eSIM. Customers can walk into the nearest U Mobile Stores and request for an eSIM. The supported U Mobile eSIM devices are as below (updated list): Yoodo, Tune Talk & XOX While major Telcos require their customers to walk in to a service centre to get an eSIM, MNVOs such as Tune Talk and XOX and Yoodo (a digital prepaid service from Celcom Axiata) process the eSIM replacement request online. Yoodo, Tune Talk & XOX all operates on the Celcom 4G/3G/2G network. To find out more, can refer to the article below, quite comprehensive. https://www.malaysianwireless.com/2020/09/e...GzNAhCjcnBszQel |

QUOTE(nasiputih @ Mar 12 2022, 10:48 PM) No unfortunately. But with rumour rife that iPhone 15 (year 2024) may no longer offer physical sim slot, it's just a matter of time that Maxis extends eSIM service to Hotlink Prepaid since they can't afford to lose their Hotlink Prepaid users using iPhone. nasiputih liked this post

QUOTE(kngun @ Feb 14 2023, 12:49 AM) https://www.maxis.com.my/en/faq/products-se.../sim-card/esim/looks like hotlink postpaid can support esim QUOTE Who is eligible to activate eSIM? Maxis eSIM is available for all Maxis mobile postpaid customers including Hotlink Postpaid Flex and Corporate plans. It is available for new line registrations and existing customers. Where can I get Maxis eSIM? Maxis eSIM is available at all Maxis Centres, Maxis Exclusive Partners and Maxis Online Store (for new device purchase only). Will I be tied to a contract if I activate eSIM? The eSIM is like any other SIM cards hence it is not tied to any contracts. However if you signed up on a new device package with Maxis, you will be tied to a contract. Do I have to sign up to any specific rateplan in order to use eSIM? There is no specific rateplan for eSIM. You can use eSIM with any current plans of Maxis Postpaid Plan, Hotlink Postpaid and Corporate Plans. kngun liked this post

Really think Hotlink should allow esim for prepaid. It’s cost saving for them too, no? ie: can reduce amount of physical sim cards to manufacture + lower manpower needed at physical branches. Gold_Moderator liked this post

on iPhone, there is a convert to eSIM option in the iPhone menu. I am on Hotlink prepaid and i manage to get till the conversion page (redirected to Maxis webpage) where they ask me for IC/Passport Number and email address used to registered.
After a few tries, i got the IC/Passport Number correct but the email address always shows as invalid. @Hotlink would you advise if i can get the registered email address from you? |

They say esim is problematic if you factory reset your phone, need to go back SC to get new esim. That's why I'm still using nano Sim for convenience

Who is eligible to activate eSIM? Maxis eSIM is available for all Maxis mobile postpaid customers including Hotlink Postpaid and Corporate plans. It is available for new line registrations and existing customers. Is it a Hotlink "Postpaid" that got the esim ? This post has been edited by pvateme: Jan 30 2024, 08:02 AM |

QUOTE(lowkelvin @ Jun 24 2024, 09:12 PM) Went to Maxis Centre at The Garden and EkoCheras When you get a chance in the future and know you will pass by the Maxis Center, do the eSIM conversion on your iPhone. In case anything happens, you can walk in immediately to get a SIM replacement. Both mentioned their system is not ready yet And both staff doesn’t know the new FAQ I converted my Hotlink… but it is Postpaid SIM card when I went to the shopping mall last time during weekend. I did it while walking from the car park to the mall with personal hotspot from another device. It was a smooth experience, but took some minutes to complete the process. Be patient yah. I also remember when I swapped my iPhone from the 14 Pro Max to the 15 Pro Max. I just did the eSIM transfer without needing to get a new esim QR code from the Maxis Center. By the way, nowadays, the staff at Maxis Centers really lack training on their company’s products and services. They only focus on hard-selling devices with contracts, postpaid plans, and fiber plans. For customer service, it seems they prefer you don't come in, as there's no commission involved. They even dare to tell me cannot port-in to Prepaid plan. Only Postpaid available. Not the dealer, is the Maxis Center. This post has been edited by jiaen0509: Jun 25 2024, 06:28 PM |

QUOTE(Braxton @ Jul 1 2024, 09:33 AM) if top up rm100 can last for 120 days then not bad... but seems like now hotlink top up also works differently already... https://www.hotlink.com.my/en/faq/products/...-pantas/top-up/ How does the top up validity work? Each top up of RM10 and above will keep your account/SIM active for 30 days from the day you top up. For example, if you choose to up RM20, your account/SIM will remain active for the next 30 days. Whereas, each top up of RM5 will keep your account/SIM active for 5 days. This post has been edited by westlife: Jul 1 2024, 10:07 AM |

QUOTE(akafoz @ Jul 9 2024, 03:45 PM) Does it mean it can be done but the service centre refuse to do it anymore? or their system had been disabled. 1. The website was probably updated a few days ago to remove the mention of Hotlink Prepaid. Yea either cases sucks for Hotlink. 2. The staff also showed her iPad that contains internal directive / instruction and it showed Hotlink Prepaid not eligible. So yeah, basically it was a new-ish directive sent to them. Some posts here from a few days / weeks ago were able to do it so it seemed like it’s a recent change. Ughh. |

It's the reason why I switch to Celcomdigi kuning plan.I wanted the RM25 prepaid 40GB plan.. but no eSIM is a pain when traveling. Honestly the coverage of both is similar, some places Celcomdigi better, some places are the other way around. I bought each of the SIM to test around for 1-2 weeks before deciding. The good thing with kuning is the 40 GB is for both 4G/5G, and they are zero rating YouTube, Netflix and a few other services if you access it on 5G. It works for YouTube Music too for long drives. I think it's the better value for me overall |

Walked into Maxis and was told that we can no longer buy prepaid SIM card. Now, have to sign up for post paid and then convert to prepaid after 6 month with postpaid. Is this true?

So far, the Android Hotlink app has not been updated yet. So, don't have the option to convert Hotlink Postpaid to e-sim with the app.

QUOTE(wcypierre @ Nov 26 2024, 07:15 PM) Went to the gardens branch again 10 mins ago and still cannot. Likely the system to do it is there but they don't know how to use it yet The esim package I got from Maxis Seremban is Maxis esim package, it's green. Should be red and hotlink brand.. but anyway, it still worked. When I asked Maxis here near to home and work, they all said, "for that, have to go Seremban." So I just went to Seremban. Seremban also got a few, had to go to the main centre (Jln Tun Dr. Ismail, Seremban City Square). Since the main centre requires time and travel for me, I texted them first and in the text also the reply was "can." This post has been edited by AppleChaz: Nov 28 2024, 11:30 AM |

@Maxis
If i signed up a new eSIM from the app last month and i changing to new phone next month, can i do the eSIM transfer from old to new phone myself or do i need to go to Maxis store? If maxis store, is it any maxis store or must find those main outlets? |

Hotlink eSIM reusable? That seems to be suggestion in Hotlink's FAQ - How do I restore my eSIM profile. In the same FAQs, another paragraph says no reuse.
Anyone tested? This post has been edited by svchia78: Jan 23 2025, 04:03 PM |

I believe base on the FAQ, you can reuse the eSIM activation kit which you get from Maxis Centre. If you do convert using app then you do not have the activation kit.Anyone tested? |

Primary line always always use physical SIM - easy-in-easy -out in case phone kaput, change phone etc. etc.
eSIM very convenient for instant sign-ups that need no physical store visit (eg special 3rd party roaming plans, Yoodo-type, TuneTalk-type, Hotlink Prepaid-New Line only -type). |

You can store multiple carrier profiles on an eSIM. Just turn on/off the respective network that you want to use. If your device is lost or stolen, it prevents someone from simply swapping out the SIM. |

QUOTE(YoungMan @ Feb 2 2025, 12:24 PM) You don't have to physically swap out SIM cards when switching carriers. You’re right, there are pros and cons. I still prefer a physical SIM.You can store multiple carrier profiles on an eSIM. Just turn on/off the respective network that you want to use. If your device is lost or stolen, it prevents someone from simply swapping out the SIM. Pros: 1.Can store multiple SIM profiles without needing to swap SIM cards. 2.Prevents SIM theft and misuse, though you can still set a PIN code. Cons: 1.Can’t switch SIM cards instantly. 2.Not all phones support eSIM. 3.Retrieving a new eSIM isn’t always seamless yet |

QUOTE(Syok Your Mom @ Feb 22 2025, 12:40 PM) More popular among iPhone users that only have single sim slot … but if you are regular travellers / business trips… esim is convenient as it can store multiple esim profiles - i have 4 not sure what is the max, switching between lines are just click instead of busy finding pin to pop out sim card and replacing and eventually losing the sim … |

But I need to make sure my Fon support esim or not. Many thanks for the explanation |

QUOTE(Piers @ Sep 5 2025, 10:58 PM) my friend who is on hotlink postpaid now, submitted request at maxis centre yesterday to convert to hotlink prepaid. the staff there said will take around 3 to 5 working days. and asked the staff if need to change sim card, my friend is on hotlink postpaid (esim), the staff said no need to change. He can continue to use the same esim even after conversion. YoungMan liked this post

QUOTE(Piers @ Sep 5 2025, 09:46 PM) yup! a green card with qr, pls keep for future use or collection because this thing is rare, been told it’s running out of stock 🤣 Have not use the Maxis store green card. I wonder how secure it is if can be scan multiple time? It is better they move the eSIM request through app just like other telcos. |
