I've never seen anybody here in Malaysia give weird or disgusted looks at another person eating with hands. I think you're just trolling. Unless you were eating in places like Poland or Korea where using hands are not common.

Normal hand wash won't even clean what's hidden under the finger nails, when using hand to handle and squeeze wet food like rice with kuah, the chances of those germs/dirt transmitting to the food/mouth is higher since it is wet.
