AFAIK, nearly all Prepaid and Postpaid "unlimited data" plans from celcos have FUP limits because 4G/5G mobile data has limited bandwidth capacity, unlike immoblie/fixed Fiber Internet data.
....... For GX30, the monthly FUP limit should be 100GB.

AFAIK, that FAQ refers to the "unlimited data" explanation, not to the FUP, ie after exceeding the FUP limit, you can still access 4G/5G data at 512kbps/0.5Mbps = no data quota cap/limit but can be further speed-limited/capped.

I think they curi curi changed fup terms for gx30 . I use until 30gb suddenly speed slow like tortoise

i did the prepaid switch to uhome 5g in the app

was instant activation

How does it work for the validity for those U25, U35 prepaid monthly plan? I still need to reload RM30 for 30 days even though I subscribe U25 that is valid for 30 days? It's a separate thing?

If your credit validity expires before your subscription, you can continue to use data. However, outgoing calls will be barred until your line is active again.

Dude you're quoting a 2018 T&C.

For the Giler plans there isn't really any FUP and is truly unlimited.

But in return you cannot access 5G with them and are restricted to only symmetrical 6M/12M which is good for phone use.

The newer U Prepaid plans comes with uncapped 5G access speed over weekends which the old Giler Unlimited plans don't have.

You're quoting the wrong TnC again. That's for the current Prepaid U plans not the previous older Giler GX plans.

The old Giler Unlimited GX38/43 FAQ have mentioned clearly:

My present (grandfathered from 2019) Postpaid GX50 4G phone plan also gives unlimited data @5Mbps but it is still subjected to a monthly FUP limit of 100GB = if FUP exceeded, speed is limited to 0.5Mbps or 512kbps until the monthly billing cycle ends.

So, the oldish Prepaid GX30/GX38/GX43 4G phone plans that give unlimited data @3Mbps or 6Mbps are also subjected to monthly FUP limits. IINM, there is also a daily and weekly FUP limits for these "unlimited-data" plans.
....... It's "too good to be true" that Prepaid GX30/GX38/GX43 "unlimited-data" 4G phone plans have no monthly FUP limit because 4G (and 5G) mobile data has limited (frequency) bandwidth capacity, unlike truly-unlimited Fiber/immobile data.

GX38/43 have their exceptions, they are sold as unlimited plans with low speed cap such as 6Mbps/12Mbps. Can only connect to 4G network which most of the base stations are owned by UMobile themselves. So they have better control and leverage there with own infra. No 5G access unlike the new U Prepaid plans with uncap speeds over weekends.

Have used GX43 for few months ago with heavy hotpot usage over 150GB no FUP caps.
Later as appreciation for being loyal customer they offer GX43 at discounted RM35/mth earlier this year.

A report has claimed that U Mobile is throttling the speed of customers that are on certain unlimited postpaid and prepaid unlimited plan after their usage reached 50GB within the same billing cycle. As the story goes, the new policy apparently already in effect since 21 October.

According to the image which seems like a scan of an internal document within U Mobile, the new throttling policy is meant for the GX30 and GX50 customers. Interesting enough, the policy seems to already exist under the company’s Fair Use Policy (FUP) although the specific throttling speed was not publicly mentioned in the FUP documents on U Mobile’s website. ...

When we reached out to U Mobile to determine the authenticity of the said new throttling policy, the telco then provided with this official statement:

U Mobile always aims to provide the best experience to all our valued customers. With regards to U Mobile’s GX50 and GX30 plans, the offering of unlimited data for all apps still applies.

FAIR USAGE POLICIES OF THE PLANS: GX30 – GX50

Well, it seems like the statement subtly confirmed the existence of the policy but without confirming the details that were present in the leaked document. With that, if you are a U Mobile’s GX30 or GX50 customers, we guess now you know where the limit stands.

U Mobile's FUP seems like a shifting goalpost and secretive, eg when competition among the celcos for budget "unlimited-data" plans heated up in 2020 and 2021, U Mobile increased Postpaid GX50's monthly FUP limit from 50GB to 100GB. Maybe, U Mobile later gifted Prepaid GX43 "unlimited-data" plans with a monthly FUP limit of 200GB.

Similarly, before 2020, such budget U Mobile "unlimited-data" plans could only video-stream at SD/360p or 800kbps, as per the T&C. Thereafter, U Mobile increased it to FHD/1080p or 3Mbps.

Depending on market conditions, U Mobile may revert everything or gift more things.

That's nothing to do with obsoleted plans which have already been upgraded.

At around RM50, no one will stop you buying a Home 5G Broadband 68 plan with a RM800 5G modem thrown in with 1TB quota.

The GX38/43 plans with only 4G access is fair, you can't pull gigabytes like you do with 5G.

U Home 5G Broadband modem plan cannot make free 2G/4G/5G voice calls and SMS/IMS = is a waste of RM68 monthly for light mobile data users.

Yes, AFAIK, Prepaid GX43 at 12Mbps can only pull in a maximum 128GB of mobile data in a month, ie 24/7. So, how did you manage to pull in 150GB with Prepaid GX43 a few months ago.?

....... OTOH, Postpaid GX68 "unlimited-data"/high-speed 4G phone plans can pull in hundreds of GB of mobile data if there is no monthly FUP limit.

For GX43 - assume you use it to download 24/7 and the network conditions is really good, the maximum data you can use and pull is somewhere around 3796GB. So yes, it is indeed possible to use 150GB/month. But given such low speed caps, it is unlikely that an average mobile data user will use 150GB with GX43. 150GB is considered heavy user for this plan.

For 5G, you can indeed use up the FUP amount of 200GB in an hour if the network in your area is fast enough (but then, you will need to have that storage on your phone and your smartphone have to be cool enough as 5G is prone to overheating).

Based on DNB average published speed as on 18 March 2024, it is 268Mbps. With that average speed one can download 84797GB/82.8TB of data (based on average speed) if your area can consistently get that amount of speed. But then, no average user can use 80TB of data in a month (maybe except torrenting) and one will be using a dedicated leased line if they are going to use that much. An average home broadband user (Unifi) will use around 400-500GB/month.

Calculation method is (12 X 60 X 60 X 24 X 30)/1024/8.

Oops.! My bad. My 128GB figure was for maximum data use @12Mbps in a day for Prepaid GX43 plan which I mistook for a month. My apologies. Thanks for the correction.

Maximum usage of 128GB in a day and 3,796GB in a month @12Mbps for Prepaid GX38/GX43.! = no wonder U Mobile has to impose daily, weekly and monthly FUP limits on all it's budget "unlimited-data" 4G/5G phone plans because of limited 4G/5G bandwidth capacity.
