What you posted above may be Fake news, wrt UMobile throttling GX30/GX50 speed to 0.5Mbps from 8pm to 1am after exceeded 50GB for the billing month. Photos can be faked. Do you have the official TnC about this, sourced directly from UMobile, eg at its websites.?

You think UMobile will clearly tell you about the ever changing TnC...!!
Try complaint to UMobile when you got capped at 50GB quota....

Then only you will know about the secret TnC...

Since U Mobile throttle its GX30/50 users until like that,
I wonder those U Mobile users that uses plans that does not have any speed cap (except Video-Onz), do you experience faster mobile internet speeds now?
Or still slow as usual? biggrin.gif

Don't use speedtest... It's a "fake" result... Use "fast.com"...

Err, not entirely "fake".

U Mobile put a special exception on speedtest sites like speedtest.net so that the speed test results you get, are actually showing you the max capability that their network can provide to you,
but when it comes to the end user (you) using it for any internet browsing activities, you won't get speeds this fast, and they can throttle your speed to how much they want, especially if they feel like you're using too much or abusing it.

You try change the speedtest server to U Mobile, then you will notice the speed difference, and no matter how many times you perform speed test, it won't deduct your quota.
If you change to other server, it will deduct your data quota.

From what I see, they don't want their ever-growing users to congest their network, and continue to advertise their unlimited plans here and there to entice new customers.

The one on fast.com, is throttled to 1.5Mbps because of Video-Onz.
Just because they so generously give you unlimited or dedicated video streaming quota, that doesn't mean they would let you stream at full internet speed.

Why they do this, you ask? They want more and more customers to jump to their ship, but they don't want people to congest the ship.

They know that many Malaysians out there don't bother about the speed.
Whenever people see the word "unlimited", their eyes will open big big and immediately interested to sign up.

If they publicly advertise 1.5Mbps speed, for sure many people won't interested to sign up, and even terminate U Mobile dy.
That's why they rather emphasise their Unlimited plans more than the 3Mbps and 5Mbps speed cap for GX30 and GX50 plans respectively.

You go watch their ad:
I can see that they throw a lot of money in marketing and promotions to entice especially youngsters to sign up and port over to U Mobile.
So now they rather throw in more money in advertising than improving its network, and when the network became too congested, they throttle the speed, and then push the blame to those abusive users.

In conclusion? Throw money into advertising is cheaper than improving its mobile network.

"RM30/month? Wow, so worth it. My existing telco don't even offer unlimited data at that kind of price."
Words like this, is something that is most commonly heard by especially those non-tech-savvy youngsters and the rest of the public out there.

U-Mobile GX30/GX50 are data-"unlimited" 4G LTE phone plans, ie not 4G modem-router plans for laptops/computers/media-servers(TVs).
....... For streaming videos on your 6" phone, you only need SD/480p resolution at 0.8Mbps, ie you do not need fast d/l speed of 2Mbps or more, for FHD/1080p. 1080p/2Mbps video-streaming is normally only needed for large screen TVs of 32" to 55" or computer monitors of 19" and above.

At SD/480p video-streaming for 5 hours daily, you only consume about 1.25GB of data daily(= 5 hrs X 250MB). This equals to about 38GB of data per month. For normal phone usage, 50GB or 100GB of data per month is sufficient or considered "unlimited".

Bear in mind that on GX50, download, installation and updating of apps and files are at 5Mbps. If the GX50 phone plan users want to watch a 2 hr movie on their TVs or computer monitors at 1080p/FHD, they will have to first download the movie to their phone as MP4 files and use the VLC app for playback. The download of the movie at 5Mbps will take about 1 hour = more hassle.

For those who prefer unlimited d/l speed, there are the P99 Hero, P139 Hero and Digi Infinite 150 phone plans, which to me are a waste of money.
....... For computer/laptop users, they are better off with truly data-unlimited Home Fiber Internet or Unifi Air plans.

Bear in mind that U-Mobile and other mobile telcos have to pay TM HSBB Fiber for Internet bandwidth and data since all Internet traffic has to go through TM's Fiber backbone network, in order to connect to the rest of the world or www.

Technically, U-Mobile marketing its Giler GX30/GX50 phone plans as data-unlimited is correct, even with the TnC 50GB quota, ie after you exceeded 50GB of data usage for the billing month, you can still read news/forums and stream Youtube videos at a blurry 240p/0.5Mbps from 8pm to 1am, ie can no longer stream Youtube videos at 480p/0.8Mbps or other videos at 360p/0.6Mbps from 8pm to 1am.

The TnC also says that if you use P2P/torrent software to download stuffs, your d/l speed will also be throttled to 0.6Mbps at all times, which is still data-unlimited technically.

The TnC does not say your d/l speed is unlimited for GX30/GX50. The TnC even states that maximum d/l speed for GX30 is 3Mbps and for GX50 is 5Mbps , and video-streaming is speed-limited to SD/480p/0.8Mbps for GX30/GX50 because they cost only RM30/RM50 per month respectively.

Normal 4G LTE d/l speed is about 30Mbps which you can get with the more expensive P99 Hero and P139 Hero phone plans.

"You get what you pay for".

Personally, I'm quite satisfied with U-Mobile's Giler GX50 phone plan for both my personal phone-calling and Internet-surfing needs = I don't need to pay extra for a separate Home fixed broadband plan like Unifi Fiber or Unifi Lite/Streamyx.
....... A family's needs are different. "To each, his/her own".

Umobile so sux it takes 30 seconds to load this page for me to reply. They keep focusing on .marketing not on their network. So most ppl that suffer switch will never come back.

Like maxis ppl port out still end up back to maxis.

Actually umobile unlimited is based on location. If crowded I dont think u can even get 3mbps or 5mbps. They spend very little on their infrastructure. If the location very little ppl its fast immediately u enter a location that crowded u can throw your umobile away

U-Mobile postpaid GX50 phone plan has no-contract = you can port out at anytime if you are not satisfied. The contracted U-Mobile P99/P139 Hero phone plans allow you to try the service for 1 month without contract, ie the #cubatry campaign.
....... Most Maxis or Unifi Mobile postpaid phone plans have 1-year or 2-years contract and no free trial program, other than trying their prepaid phone plans first.
