Wife's City is at about 80k+ mileage and the brake pads has never been replaced. Recently drove it and it doesn't seem to bite at all ._.
Wonder if you guys replace aftermarket or use back original part?

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jan 4 2019, 10:01 AM) 80k km means still under warranty? You can choose to replace at SC or perhaps outside workshop with Honda OEM brake pads or Bosch. FYI brake pad replacement is not part of the mandatory items for scheduled servicing so it shouldn't concern on warranty. IIRC, front brake pads should be replaced every 50-60k km. Yeah, but wife traveling Melaka - Muar daily so... maybe that's why didn't break down so quickly. But then again SC also never trigger for brake pad change before aiseh.I'm wondering how much does the Honda brake pads cost, or any better third party I could consider |

QUOTE(mushigen @ Jan 4 2019, 11:29 AM) Brake pad wear depends on your driving pattern and braking habit, so it doesn't mean they must be replaced at certain odo readings. Compared to my Civic, I just need to tape a bit then the brakes bit pretty hard. I remember the City was like this when new, now like can press it very deep in. Asked the service manager, brake pads replacements are about RM500+ from Honda (not including labor yet). Holy...! My only experience with worn brake pads was when one of the inner brake pads got totally worn off, leaving metal to metal contact, which gave out a loud metallic scraping sound. Imo, the pads should not lose their bite when wearing out, so it's probably best to have them checked. Don't ignore the rear brakes too. Or I'm suspecting is the the fluid instead. QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jan 4 2019, 11:38 AM) Some SC do measure brake pad remainder level but since its not mandatory replacement, so some SC might not check on this. Up to driver feeling really. Can get Bosch replacement parts, they are OEM brand. Only downside is Bosch ones creates more brake dust and easy dirty the rims. Yikes, I dislike brake dust haha... might consider something else perhaps. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jan 4 2019, 11:59 AM) Ehh? Exactly what I'm feeling... its very mushy... step all the way down also don't really bite. It felt like my previous car the Myvi... I remember back then when I compared the Myvi and City, the City had much more bite like what I feel on the Civic now. |

QUOTE(mushigen @ Jan 4 2019, 02:09 PM) From what you described (especially when you compare it with the feeling when it was new), it's either you have air pocket in the brake fluid, or the brake booster is defective or your brake pump is leaking/not functioning well so that it does not generate enough force to clamp the pads onto the rotors. When was the last time you changed brake fluid? You might want to replace it or bleed the brake fluid lines or both. Suspecting air pocket... looking back at the bills I think about 60k had changed the brake fluid... maybe its the brake pump issue hmm. Shall go back to SC in thsi case... sekali is brake pump faulty and if I change third party cannot claim I used to change my brake pads of my bikes, and from what I see, I don't think it's possible to adjust the gap between pad and rotor. The piston moves to push out the pad so that it touches the rotor. When there is not enough force to push the piston out, you do not get enough reactive force between the pad and rotor surface, causing less friction generated. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Mar 2 2019, 11:37 AM) IIRC, fuel strainer is only replaced every 80k km servicing. This should have been replaced back in ur 80k km service. Yeah, SC no stock that time. During 90k also no stock 🤦♂️They just called me said one of the tyre the screw got issue. Ask to replace all 4 at RM 160, RM 40 per piece 😓 I also forgot ask why no warranty 😂 or wear and tear item? |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Mar 2 2019, 04:57 PM) Wow! They can actually let you go thru 2 intervals of services and not replace that part. I would have sent a strong word to Honda Malaysia if I were you, alternatively better to go to another SC that might have the part. Since this is routine scheduled replacement, there is no excuse for them to have part shortages especially for 2 intervals of service. Its not like you are asking for bumper replacement, whereby they probably may not have the right model or colour. I'm not sure how they track the items replacement. I recalled for the previous service, I sent the car and asked for it. They said no stocks, the hell... or was it unable to change due to major part. But this time around I called up and asked, the service advisor initially just asked me to go, then decided to call the Service Manager and ensured stocks available and reserved for mine ._.As for tyre screws, I think its wear & tear parts so need to be replaced at ur cost when its worn. Oh well, good thing is wife no longer travel that for work so the mileage is pretty low during that time period. Total damage RM1470 This post has been edited by celciuz: Mar 2 2019, 05:59 PM |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Mar 2 2019, 11:50 PM) This part is under scheduled replacement for every City every 80k km (https://www.honda.com.my/uploads/pdf/maintenance/20181019/CITY_1.5_2014YM.pdf) so they should anticipate cars coming in for routine services will require this replacement sooner or later. Totally agree, and it was an appointment. They should have checked for availability before confirming the appointment. This is Kah Motor Semabok, Melaka. With this kinda service, better go to another SC. BTW which SC is this? |

QUOTE(safe118 @ Mar 3 2019, 06:44 PM) The blower if at slow speed, can hear whining noise. I don’t really know how to explain but colleague’s pre facelift model doesn’t have this noise at all. Doesn’t happen on my Civic either. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Mar 4 2019, 09:44 AM) I think its just wayang by both of them. I mean, why the SC advisor would purposely withhold the part when the mgr has confirmed the part is available? Anyways I hope this issue of urs is resolved soon. Oh well, already replaced the parts. Tomorrow sending in another Honda for transmission cover claim urgh, oil leaking QUOTE(anderscheow @ Mar 4 2019, 10:03 AM) On my City Hybrid 2018, I'm getting mild "Eeeee" noise on passenger side when aircon is turn on. QUOTE(nordingh @ May 6 2019, 12:29 AM) Yeah cause I bought Trapo for wife's City then noticed the Trapo came with the hole while the original pre-FL don't have it. Funny is my Civic has it, but my Trapo doesn't come with the hole I looked at the carpet, there's cutting of the hole. Will ask SC to install for me during next visit... on Wednesday to claim the aircond blower. |

QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jul 18 2019, 02:57 PM) XM2+. Hahaha. But really, XM2 are an allrounder tyres not really excelling in any categories (except wet performance) but on the overall its better than most. Unless you want better performance of course. Then probably Primacy or PS3/4. Was quoted RM820 for XM2, but XM2+ no stock apparently |

QUOTE(eikozai @ Jul 18 2019, 06:07 PM) Common sense la bro.. if no differences then why Michelin bother market a new product when they can maintain as XM2. WHy they need invest so much for production line on a same quality thing, right? He was claiming same grip pattern, same material... (what same material Go other tyre shop, this one seems fishy. QUOTE(calvin_kenni @ Jul 18 2019, 06:20 PM) I thought so, need to survey further QUOTE(babylon52281 @ Jul 18 2019, 06:51 PM) Yeah. Go other tyre shops. I hate hardsellers who clearly is pushing old stocks. Whatmore the price is more expensive than XM2+ (someone here got it for 180/pc iinm). RM180+ per piece for XM2+? Holy cow, I gotta checkout another shop first. |
