Chromecast show half screen in standby mode but in full screen when play video. Tested myself using 1st version that I have.

I tried 2 more, both show half screen and there is no way to lower the resolution. Both work perfectly on LCD TV but 1 already burned, so left one use on my non wifi tv.

- found the burned one - Tronsmart Mirror 2 TV (AM8251 Quad-Core ARM Cortex-A9) - Ezycast sibling.
- another one also EZcast, I use original EZcast software to cast video to TV

BTW, Ezycast is not ori Chromecast, just another compatible mirror dongle like Anycast et cetera. Ori Chromecast usually cost >Rm100.

Mirroring via HDMI is 1st step. 2nd step is to connect via Phone Link (only for Android) on FL HU (there is a greyed out icon on HU mainscreen). You will need install PhoneLink app by DENSO TEN Ltd via Google Play and turn ON bluetooth at phone and HU. Frankly, just to control on HU screen, it is a battery eater and not worth it.

I been using Anycast M2 plus for my city 2017fl since last year, resolution set to lowest 720x480_60P
Tested & can use mirror link for iphone 7 plus & samsung prime. Used Samsung prime together with phone link apps, touch screen from HU possible but not so sensitive & slow response.
Recently updated the Anycast M2 plus software still have low resolution 720x480_60p selection.

Hmm, interesting... urs might be the rare RK version of M2plus, or they might have updated the software for AM version to support 720x480 since the last time I tried it. I don't have my M2plus dongle to confirm this anymore (I return it for refund), but kudos to you and ur discovery. So I guess M2plus is also now usable for FL HU too (as long the software is appropriately updated).

MHL is going to be dead soon. Sony also no longer add MHL in their TV and phone. I use built-in Chromecast to miror the display. Samsung remove a long time ago.

The way he mirror the screen can be archive by using 1 USB cable and bluetooth only for pre-FL HU, using mirrorlink with my Sony phone. No need any Cast adapter. Phone can put in drink holder.

After exploring so many way to connect phone to HU, just for fun, I decide to go the old way. Waze on phone which is hang under the rear view mirror, HU can use for movie if my kid inside the car, music, radio or just switch off.

anyone using iphone x and the lighting av adapter to mirror on the HU? after the ios12 upgrade.. my wife iphonex can't mirror to the hu..the screen on the hu freeze with the home screen of the iphone.. before the upgrade everything is find.. and mirror to tv is working.. weird.. my wife's city is the 2014/2015 version...

If that fails, just use Lazada easy return.

The preFL Vspec HU is a respectable player. The only thing lacking is Android Auto/Carplay. Our FL HU is a piece of crap. It is there just to display the reverse camera and somewhat play music.
