Welp, round 2.

Budget: 7k
CPU: i7 or higher (may not be relevant
RAM : 16/32GB
Weight: If possible, below 2kg, but this is flexible.
Battery life: 7-8+ hours? (or whatever is reasonable)

Uses : Highly aggressive photoshop.
Note: Memory(RAM) is top priority.
*
1. Thinkpad T480s/T480s
WQHD panel
MX150 25W (10W in T480s)
Optional 96Wh battery (T480)

2. Thinkpad T580
UHD panel
MX150 25W
Optional 105Wh battery

3. ThinkPad X1 Extreme
8300H+1050TI MQ, 8GB, 256GB
Some throttling due to thin chassis (8300H should be fine)

4. Dell XPS 15 9570
8300H+1050, 8GB, 256GB, 100% sRGB 400nits FHD IPS display, 97Wh battery
Cooling and VRM throttling issues, some QC issues

FYI, i5 and i7 ULV don't have much performance difference unless single core performance and the extra 2-3MB L3 cache are very important to you. Note that I didn't include options with soldered RAM ONLY, even they come with 16GB RAM.

@myway1985, any Dell Latitudes/Precisions with big battery and good quality display to recommend?

there's no additional 2-years warranty option too. you stuck with 1year warranty for y530 with gtx1060

There is. You need to select in customization page

Hello Sifu's~ my question as below~

1. Budget :1.9k - 2.4k MAX
(I have 32gb of Intel optane, 240gb SATA3 SSD and 240gb M.2 Pcie in case anything required to upgrade, so lets not put those into price calculation)

2. Usage : Illustrator, general office works... not much gaming~

3. Requirements : no specific requirements... IPS is a plus, since using AI, battery life isn't really a main thing for me as mostly use in office smile.gif

Currently two laptops catched my eye
1. Lenovo Ideapad 320 (15) AMD (FX-9800P, with 256gb sata3, and 4gb ram, 530 2gb d5 + FHD *mostly shitty TN)
https://www.lenovo.com/my/en/laptops/ideapa...BR/p/80XS008QMJ

2. Lenovo ideapad 320s 14inch (intel i5 8250u + 4G D4 + 920mx 2g d5, with same FHD 14"TN shit) < This one i can put in a optane and swap the sata ssd in~ Since there's a slot for M.2 Optane rclxms.gif
https://www.11street.my/productdetail/lenov...oductFullDetail

Any suggestions? :-D

try this.older model

Alienware 13 R3 Gaming Laptop Intel® Core™ i7-7700HQ (Quad-Core, 6MB Cache, up to 3.8GHz w/ Turbo Boost) 8GB DDR4 at 2667MHz (1x8GB) 256GB PCIe SSD (Boot) NVIDIA® GeForce® GTX 1060 with 6GB GDDR5 Windows 10 Home  13.3 inch FHD (1920 x 1080) IPS Anti-Glare 300-nits Display with Alienware Head-KBL  Rm5000
*
Dell discontinuing the 13 already, not future proof, though I prefer 15 inch. Reading the alienware thread seems like got a lot of thermal issues on 15. Patiently waiting for m15.

Can consider these:
1. Illegear Raven (TongFang GJ5CN6E) with 1060 and 144Hz IPS. Can choose in house mechanical keyboard which is similar to blue switches. I suggest you to take i5 8300H since 8750H runs hot.
2. Commandos Carbine 5 (Clevo N950TP6). Keyboard is nothing special though. Comes with desktop CPU. I suggest you to take i5 8400.
3. Level51 W15 Lite (Clevo N950TP6) with 120Hz TN. Same explanation with Carbine 5.
*
The raven is soooooooooooooooooooooooo ugly, I won't feel happy buying it.
The other 2 I haven't seen yet, maybe walk around digital mall and see if got. I think in the end I'm looking for a great value buy, with some shoppee code or something, waiting for the right time to pull the trigger

Haven't been able to sleep for a few nights now, thinking of what laptop to buy
I'm just too damn picky.

I'm aiming for GTX 1060, either acer predator or asus tuf.
So see see, Asus TUF actually give the 120hz screen for i7 @ RM 5K, shit. Ok go for acer predator then.
Acer predator helios 300 just fits it so well at RM 3.6K, but I just found out that this i5 version ALSO does not come with the 144hz screen, only with the i7 @ rm 5K as well, what the hell.

The 60hz screen provided colour accuracy and brightness SUCKS SO MUCH ASS, so I am thinking about upgrading the screen, RM 300, then upgrade ram, 8gb ddr4 another RM 300.
Fuck suddenly already tambah 600 out of nowhere, laptop become RM 4,200 now for an i5 and so much additional work to put in, plus the keyboard sucks as well.

So are there any good laptops with a GTX 1060 that is cheap with good screen and keyboard at RM 4.5K -5K that I should consider? Or does anyone know if there will be a refresh from Dell and lenovo soon and I should wait?

Who say 320s 14 has TN panel. Go to store and take a look. It has IPS. Optane is a marketing gimmick, but since you already got it...just put inside

Ideapad 320 is mediocre. Ideapad 320s 14 is a decent budget choice, but RAM+SSD upgrades are needed.

Can refer to my approval list for more options

Ya...one of the reason why 8th gen mobile chips (including KBL-R) run so hot... keep pushing higher clock speeds while there is no architecture improvement

Hi all, asking for a friend's friend. Limited info available.

1. Budget : As budget as possible.
2. Usage : Uni coursework. Graphic related course.
3. Requirements (display size, battery life, weight etc) : A decent graphic card I guess

If recommending the model, can please suggest where to obtain from? At Kelantan would be best.

Thanks in advance.

Give a range on budget. Also, any preference on weight and battery life?

I suggest buying online

Need a good quality display? Or low sRGB IPS is enough?
No preference on display size either?
