Absolute max budget? No preference on battery life? Mind low sRGB display and non-upgradable RAM?
*
Battery life preferably around 6 hours. Not mandatory. Mostly will be used in office where powr source is available.

Monitor quality is not important actually. Preferably upgradable ram.

Can stretch to max 3.5k

Hi...now i looking at lenovo thinkpad A485. Look at website can upgrade to 8gb, 3 years onsite warranty and aditional upgrade to ryzen 7 2700u. Price around 34++ after fye discount. Is it this amd thinkpad wotrth it similiar with dell 7490 i7?in term of performance should be below i7 rite? How about compare to thinkpad t480? In term of build quality and performance with i5?

Please answer my questions precisely, otherwise I can't help you:
Preferred display size? (eg 15 inch)
Preferred min battery life in hours?
Preferred max weight in kg?

Lenovo Thinkpad L480 - storage upgrade is complicated (if get HDD need add SSD via WWAN slot)
Lenovo Thinkpad E490
Lenovo Ideapad 530s 14 81EU00NRMJ / 81EU00NSMJ / 81EU00NTMJ / 81EU00NUMJ - no HDD
Lenovo Yoga 520 / Yoga 530 +RAM (1 slot only) +HDD (optional)
Acer Swift 3 SF314-54-55JD / 57FD / 59T5 +RAM
Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKBR +RAM (1 slot only) +SSD

Small battery (>6 hrs):
Lenovo Thinkpad E490s - no HDD
Dell Vostro 5471/5481

Thinkpad A485 also good but you need battery upgrade in order to get good battery life which will make it heavier. Also, storage upgrade is complicated

Also, some ppl don't like the look of Thinkpad

It's a good model, however take note:
If you want good battery life on this model, you MUST opt for 24+72Wh battery which increases weight
Also, there's no display upgrade option (higher sRGB panel) unlike T480
QC might not be as good as T480 / other premium business laptops like Latitude 7490

2500U and 2700U are basically same, only difference is iGPU performance. KBL-R / WHL ULV and Ryzen mobile APU have about the same multi core performance, however it depends on various factors like cooling, firmware etc

Confirm no preference on weight and battery life?

What games do you play?

1. OK-mediocre reviews from NBC and other popular sites - I might do my own review on it soon since my friend got one
2. Battery life too short, runs hot

Open to 15 inch?

I'll look up for the benchmark for i3 vs i5 later. But I hope with SSD and 8GB RAM, things will be smooth enough for daily use and slideshow presentation.

Ah, that's upgradble RAM is not possible in the future. Personally I think 4GB laptop is kinda slow for daily use, especially when Linux running Windows in Virtualbox.

Thank you for the link. Checking it right now. Hmmm...Things get complicated.  confused.gif

Try Shopee , people sell 'cheap' keys. Now where they are sourced from , I am not too sure but it can be legally activated. Bought Windows 10 Pro upgrade from Shoppe

I am considering to buy a laptop around RM3k. I have done some survey on the laptop. Could you guys recommend me which laptop to choose for among below three laptop? Or you guys have other recommendations as well. I put in Asus TUF FX505G because I am thinking to play Dota 2 or its better to buy a PC to play Dota 2 and exclude Asus TUF FX505G from the list.

1) Lenovo Ideapad 530S
2) Asus Vivobook S14
3) Asus TUF FX505G
