Hi Jay thanks . I have a one year visa and work permit, so does it means I can drive in Thailand more than 30 days without my car 🚗 exit and re-enter Thailand again
*
Hi there,

This is new to me. I not sure if they can follow your working permit expired date to grant your car stay in Thailand that long or not. But confirm your car maximum stay is 30 days if you enter as tourist.

If you need to confirm about this, you may contact Thailand embassy for more information about this.

Hi,
I just back from hatyai selfdrive with my mum and sister, when we enter yesterday  we submit the car inbound letter (and asked officer what to do next then he say just drive in to hatyai) so we missed the counter for the simplified custom declaration form.
And we came out just now we submit the car outbound letter to the immigration officer who chop the passport and she chop on that letter for me but the next counter ask for a letter so I thought it is the same letter then I told her already passed to previous officer, she asked me walk back to get it back to her. So I walked back to take back the form with 2 date chop (in and out date) but the second officer said not the outbound form and she don’t want it from me? She showed me a form which as same as the custom declaration form you posted here but I told her we don’t have, they she ask me to leave and she asked me to take back my outbound form which she don’t need.
May I know will this bring me some trouble or fine if I wanna drive into Thai with my car again?
*
Hi there,

I not sure if you will get trouble on this.

But if follow logic, let's say by the time u check in at Thailand, you did not let authority to generate the "car permit" custom declaration form, which means u did not import(drive) your vehicle into Thailand. The car permit is require driver signature to prove that driver and authority both party get knows about the rules and compound that need to pay if disobey.

Since authority did not generate one car permit for you, and you come back here safely without any thai authority disturb rclxms.gif , I think that is fine for you.

You only will get fine if you already receive the car permit and not return the car permit to Thai authority. smile.gif
But you do not have it at first, so...... cool2.gif

But next time please remember for that form, in case while on the road Thailand authority call u off and ask for it and you do not carrying the car permit then ohmy.gif

Hi there,

Sure can, why not? biggrin.gif
Malaysia authority / Thailand authority won't call to their department and check if your car still under bank loan. nod.gif

Hi guys,

Is the Old Car Grant (Geran Kereta Lama) equivalent to new (car ownership card)?

I have original car grant, but is the Old long A4 size one, is it enough to use at the Thai Border's entrance?

hi there,

Yes is still usable. smile.gif

Interesting thread. Planning a driving trip to Thailand sometime in the near future.

How's the experience driving in Thailand compared to Malaysia? The roads, traffic, fuel, tolls, police, etc..
*
Hi there,

My driving experience to Krabi is nice. After hatyai the driving pleasure is less stress than driving at our north south highway due to long journey. So far there is no toll on my route, but their fuel on RON95 [their best petrol btw] is RM5 per litre.

I did not encounter any police biggrin.gif I just follow their rules, just like when u drive into Singapore u follow their rule and not to get any traffic offence bruce.gif

In the list, is Thailand insurance different from the Malaysian insurance extension/endorsement?

I bought endorsement so my car insurance now covers Thailand during my period of travel, do I still need this Thailand insurance thing?
*
You will still need Thailand insurance, is compulsory in Thailand.

Example case,

-with Thailand insurance (cover Thailand vehicle only)
you get involve in accident with Thai vehicle, usually Thai vehicle need compensate if is your fault. So this insurance will pay for them.
Another thing is, even know u buy extension/endorsement in msia, some insurance company wont cover Thailand vehicle, hence why is this important.

-with Msia insurance extension/endorsement for Thailand
like case above, if you are victim, your insurance in msia will cover for you.
If you no buy, u gg if shit happen in Thai, you gonna fork out your own money to fix your car.

Hope these help smile.gif

Oh I see, so Thai insurance is to protect Thai vehicles whereas our own insurance extension is to cover our own vehicle in case of any misfortunes. Thanks for clarifying this! biggrin.gif
*
No problem, this is a bit like we having 3rd party insurance in Msia which when shit happen, if is own fault, insurance pay for the victim, your car damage u pay yourself. sweat.gif

Hi bro May I know which border is faster and less hassle?

Padang Besar, Bukit Kayu Hitam or the Kota Putra?
*
Hi there,

I personally did not enter from any of those places u mention to Thailand.
However base on my prediction, other than Bukit Kayu Hitam(BKT) CIQ, others most likely will less crowded.
Because BKT is the most fastest access to Thailand if you are coming from North-South Expressway.

Hi, Im planning to drive to hatyai at these coming CNY. Which kastam do u all suggest?
*
Hi there,

If you are from the North South Highway (Jitra) that area, just use Bukit Kayu hitam(BKT) to enter.
Otherwise, if you take another path to another entrance, it might about the same while you queuing at BKT kastam biggrin.gif

If I not mistaken, if the car is Thailand register car u gonna have IDP, if the car is Malaysia register car, then you use Msia License would be fine.
