About the transfer ban, at least we already signed pullisic. Kovacic will be gone after this season we can't sign him

what kepa did is disgraceful but then, what is the logic behind the decision to sub him out for the penalty kick phase? not like a GK can make any difference during that period of time because they are at the mercy of the penalty kick takers..

Managers make decision base on stats...so probably, cabalero have higher penalty saving rate compared to kepa, maybe?

caballero used to play for manchester city. so he probably knew how the city players took penalties compared to Kepa.

LVG : hold my beer
did it at the World Cup, sub a keeper for Penalty shootout and won.

the last Carabao Cup final that went into penalties was in 2016 City vs Liverpool and Caballero saved 3 shots to win the cup for City. and he know how City players shoot..

but either way, when the manager ask u to go off, you go off no matter what. whether its tactical, precautionary, due to injury or any reason at all, you dont shout back at the manager and tell him what you want to do. player power on full display right there, most expensive keeper with 6 yrs to go vs a head coach who might not make it to the end of the season.

very disgraceful to see it on tv. lack of class, lack of respect to Sarri, the coaching staff, the fans and Willy as well. now covering up by saying its a misunderstanding. inexcusable.

congrats to Kepa who lost his first game as a manager.

I was initially fuming at what happened but after reading about sarri's explanation that it was a mere misunderstanding, I hope everyone can just move past this as soon as possible. Whether it really was a lack of communication between the gaffer and the team doctor we'll never know, but I'm quite glad maurizio didn't throw kepa under the bus because he quite easily could have, especially after we lost.

The media were going to have a field day anyway so no point dwelling on what happened. Kepa will be fined, maybe dropped a couple of games but at the end of the day he's still one of us. Not condoning what he did in any way but with still a lot to fight for this season it would be wise for the team to focus on what can be salvaged from our remaining fixtures.

Let's not take away anything from that amazing performance, especially in the second half onwards. We could and should have won, if we just had a bit more composure in their half or if the officials actually did their jobs. Love the fact that sarri threw on emerson, and proceeded to take a chance on odoi and RLC. Yes the latter two came on a bit late but I'd wager 99% of the fanbase were relieved it wasn't the same old barkley / kovacic merry go round again. Nice to see the lads fighting hard for a result and after the 6 nil mauling city gave us, you'd never guess they're actually capable of pushing them all the way.

Kante's one on one which was unfairly stopped by zinchenko, that cutback from eden which he just failed to lash home, Pedro's one on one down the right where he inexplicably tried to find a teammate, ruben's zidanesque touch and through pass to eden which was wrongly called for offside, we had an array of great chances to win the game.

Like I mentioned before, if we lost I'd still be proud of this lot and I stand by my words, even though the kepa incident leaves a bitter taste in the mouth. If we can show this type of pride and spirit for the remainder of our matches, then we'll secure a top four spot, you can be sure of that.

MOTM is between kante and emerson for me. Apart from a couple of unnecessary dribbles, I don't think emerson lost his man once for the whole game, except for that one time sterling got past him in ET. Even then that's understandable for a player who was knackered due to a lack of game time, and yet he still confidently dispatched his penalty later on. Really showed what he was made of, and sarri definitely has to consider him as our first choice leftback now.

yep, some proper defending for once. not getting raped by Sterling on that left side. loved it when he blast the ball out of play even tho in City's 3rd to make sure we waste time haha

But bear in mind we played defensively in this game...
If play like normal, not sure Emerson will be solid to attack and then track back to defend

But I do hope Cho, RLC become regular sub after this

If it was Gattuso, Kepa would get smash on his head for that antique.

Really unprofessional & rude.

imo emerson cross way way better than alonso.

hope cho, and rlc for 1st team straight away. biggrin.gif

if this coming match vs spurs we field emerson and maybe.. just maybe sarri drop jorgi, i guess it's fine to say that he's no longer stubborn. last night kante tackle/interception numerous times and he's also the one who started the attack (distributing the ball). i dont see why can't he fit at jorgi place.

despite the kepa drama, regardless of the real reason, thumbs up to sarri for not condeming him to the media (i'll be fuming and will walk straight away as well if players wont listen to the decision i made). old and wise vs young and immature.
idk if it's jm, sure kepa will be blasted during pc and will nvr play again. biggrin.gif

Just play him and sell him. If you banish him to reserve or not play him. He will be worth zero.

He was never worth 70 million in the first place.

This is the Chelsea that we knew. Always dangerous on counter attack. Apart from that Kepa incident, i think we did good.

We look dangerous during counter attack. But i still dont like Hazard as false 9. When he got the ball nobody inside City penalty box for him to aim to.
