Those who are on 100Mbps, really need cable to achieve full 100Mbps? I tried wifi max around 90Mbps only.... and I have high end Asus AC86U

What about the WiFi receiver?

IMHO, if you don't need the 800 Mbps speed and you're paying over 200 for 100 Mbps with Ultimate pack n unlimited call. Better to downgrade to the new 100 Mbps pla., Save some money?
*
True that, especially if you're not willing to fork out a lot of money for a router that is capable of supporting the 800Mbps over WiFi. We're talking about:

- Router or Routers for big house
- WiFi receiver card (for desktop and laptop)
- Genuine cables
- Device upgrade for those that can't change component

Initially i thought TIME > TM,
but in TIME topic, they bash TIME as much as we bash TM here.
*
If you ask me, TM provides more consistent internet connection compared to TIME, at least in my experience.

My house in Puchong is always 100Mbps no matter what time I do the speed test. In Cyberjaya where I subscribed 100Mbps for homestay business purpose, the speed always drops drastically to 30-60Mbps at night.

On top of that, the latency is always fluctuating. Trying playing online games and you'll get the ping spikes.

why downgrade...500/800mbps too fast for u?
*
Can be a lot of reason. Some don't need the 500Mbps and wants to save the RM 40 which is Rm 480 a year. This is not including equipment upgrade costs.
Some depend on the internet for work, so additional speed is always welcomed.

Thinking if it's worth it to upgrade my Dlink 890L to Asus AC5300 to boost wifi?

My desktop receiver is TpLink AC1900 tri-band

for me, instead of getting 1 unit Asus Ac5300, better to get 2 unit Dir-885 and create more wired Wireless AP for the 5ghz system, so that everywhere guaranteed getting a full speed. lol

Nope. But, Asus is good for its AiProtection, and firmware features.
*
I see. Would you consider firmware feature of Dlink capable if changed to DD-WRT compared to Asus? Since on the box it writes full compatibility with DD-WRT support.

not that this is first time TM does vampire actions.

the big question is why no consumer association has ever brought this up and take them to task??!!
*
Not surprised. It doesn't even make business sense in the first place for TM to offer 800Mbps, especially after introduction of RM 129 100Mbps.

800Mbps one account a normal user will be paying RM 329, excluding those (like me) who are paying RM 189 - RM 249.

TM can take 7 accounts worth RM 129 revenue = RM 903, a 3x increase over turbo upgrade for just one account (that's also for those full paying customer), while at the same time providing the same speed structure.

LiveChat, TM Email team, 100 number......even the technicians who came to my house today. All kena. Notoriously known by the CS department already, they address me by my "bitching" username already, not by my real name. "Mr.Mike". I asked them why call me "Mr.Mike" instead of my real name, there was a pause and they just say that's part of the report info they have. I guess you can call "Mr.Mike" as the most evil villain the TM CS department has ever know. Hushed whispers can be heard when the name "Mr.Mike" comes up on LiveChat and everybody shoves everybody else to answer the chat/call. ROFLMAO!

Sorry folks, looks like 800Mbps is a fleeting "wired only" dream now. WiFi on my 68U still only 250Mbps, 300Mbps max between my Mac and Windows devices. Is it enough to justify the price I'm paying? The jury is out on that, not until I see the pricetag they're gonna slap me with.

Anybody have the Asus Rapture router with 800Mbps line? What kinda speeds are you getting on 5Ghz? Or other recommended routers for 800Mbps line, I'd appreciate any recommendations. going to LYP today to check for options.
*
It is hard to get 800Mbps on WiFi, even if you purchase the most expensive router available on the market. WiFi will probably be constrained by the Mac or Windows 10 WiFi receiver. Need to check on that. Think of it like this, even if WiFi router is capable of pushing out 800Mbps, your receiver will be limited and can't take on 800Mbps all by itself.

Then the second question comes how fast the disk can read and write. Need to look into this.

Last but not least, this one many people overlook, make sure the cable connecting to the router from BTU is capable of supporting 800Mbps. biggrin.gif

After promising to get the technical team to call me and then raised several complaint reports, I kenot tahan already and went straight to TMpoint Cyberjaya.

I calmly explained my frustration of paying RM316 monthly for 100mbps while everyone else is enjoying the same speed at a much lower price then the front desk lady asked me whether I want to downgrade to the new RM129 100mbps package or cut the Turbo queue. I opted for the latter (I wanted a temporary discount OR faster upgrade to turbo'd speed) and then she wrote this behind my queue ticket and told me to explain to the staff at the counter that I demand for a faster turbo upgrade by cutting the queue:

user posted image

When my number came up, I explained the same thing and the staff said she understands and will send the instruction to the Turbo technical team and upgrade my line as soon as possible. The staff at the counter proceeded to give me a customer retention form and I filled it up on the spot. She said the upgrade will take place within 2 weeks.

I guess I'm gonna have to be patient for the next 2 weeks while waiting for the speed upgrade and my 20m Cat7 cables to arrive from Shopee..

EDIT: My Cat7 cables just arrived less than 2 minutes after writing this.. lol
*
I hope all the best for you considering you're paying RM 316/monthly.
But I remember fruitie was promised the same thing too, 2 weeks but the upgrade didn't materialize.

suggest you to get the new 129 100mbps package, you save A LOT more.

800mbps turbo is definitely a welcome, but your current router and smartphones and computers might not support that speed.

might as well TM will offer 129 users to upgrade too 300/500/800 in the future with some topup
*
That sounds probable.
I'll be contempt with 500Mbps offering though. No need 800Mbps. laugh.gif

Really unfair treatment by TM. Not our fault their did not upgrade their infrastructure. At least give fair pricing la. 30mbps should pay below RM100
*
Not TM's fault either if the infrastructure in your apartment is copper. Need to complain to your building management and pay to upgrade to fiber.
