Yeah, but with the aluminium build it definitely feels more premium la. The 5C plastic housing is pretty meh.The iPhone XR Discussion Thread | V1, Brilliant. In every way.

QUOTE(westlife @ Sep 13 2018, 08:59 PM) Yes, it is a correct move for them. 3D Touch have or dun have it does not affect user experience. XR comes with Haptic Touch...what it is exactly? Is it like the iPhone 7/8's Touch ID?At least Apple has given the XR all the essential hardware like Xs. It is a not bad choice for Budget users. |

Wait... ppi as the screen goes bigger doesn't change right?
I mean if its 326 ppi, means 326 pixels per inch... bigger or smaller its still the same 326 pixel per inch. So the sharpness is the same... |

QUOTE(Benefon @ Sep 20 2018, 01:22 PM) Plenty of RAM in the 2018 iPhone models Seems like the XS, XS Max and XR has different CPU clock speed despite being A12?Some specifications of Apple devices never get formally announced. Most notably, the amount of RAM in each new iPhone isn’t revealed until the devices get benchmarked. According to Geekbench 4, the iPhone XS and the XS Max both have 4 GB of RAM. The iPhone XR has 3 GB, the same as the iPhone X. https://www.google.com.sg/amp/s/www.cultofm...kbench-ram/amp/ |

QUOTE(Ch3n_low @ Sep 27 2018, 10:47 PM) Yea bro, but with iPhone X used one cost the same, with stainless steel case, dual lens and OLED screen is tempting too... A12 is only 15% faster than A11 though Personal preference would be the A12 processor, plus the dual lens enabled the portrait feature but the XR able to do the same. And you get to save some bucks, maybe can replace it faster haha.I personally wanted the XR... then evil Qoo10 came up with the RM400 voucher so I pulled the trigger for XS Max 256GB This post has been edited by celciuz: Sep 27 2018, 10:54 PM |

QUOTE(phhweittt @ Sep 28 2018, 01:40 AM) Placebo perhaps? Cause pixel density is the same, which generally means same sharpness. Of course the 8+ with 400~ppi should look sharper instead compared to the 326 ppi. |

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 28 2018, 06:56 AM) Ya, not to mention the X also has an OLED screen vs the Xr's LCD.. I'd still go with the Xr for one main reason though - battery life! Price... the Xr is more economical right? My will power still strong bro... I still tahan - but only just! |

QUOTE(attw @ Sep 29 2018, 08:52 AM) I think if you've used the 5S for so long, you definitely deserve an upgrade! Bear in mind the 5S is a 5-year-old phone. Same condition here, wife's still using 5s (my pre-loved) since I'm still using 6 Plus. She didn't want the 6 Plus cause its "bulky"... and XS she worried will drop and break. So eventually will grab a XR for her when its available here, best bang for buck.Apple says the Xr will last 1.5 hours more than the 8 Plus, which means it should be the phone with the best battery life in this year's line-up. The Xs Max has a bigger physical battery capacity but it's a bigger screen and has higher resolution hence it'll need more juice. Besides, if the preorder price as reported by Soya Cincau is true then the base model will already cost upwards of RM5k, which is a lot. The XR at 3k++ is a good deal, but the current discontinued X is also still a good deal at 3k++ now. So if you need the high resolution and OLED display, hunt around for some good deals on the X, I saw some listings for about 3800 for a new one in the Garage Sale. If you're not willing to spend more than 3k then the iPhone 8 is also a good buy. Although the design is four years old and it uses the old Touch ID instead of Face ID, it's still a reliable phone and can still perform more than adequately. I've been using iPhones since iPhones 4, and I change every year, with my pre-loved phones being handed over to my wife eventually. She's currently using the iPhone X (and may I add happily) which was my last iPhone, so technically I'm "downgrading" to the Xr |

QUOTE(lingpin @ Sep 29 2018, 09:52 AM) Yep. Although the specs offered by android competitors are much tempting, iphone is still really a good software/hardware experience. I dont think any android phone would have lasted me near 5 years other than iphones (im still using a 5s) Wife's 5s (ex mine haha!) still survive... only issue is kept changing battery |

QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 2 2018, 08:48 AM) no one will know until that time the leaks haha. iPhone, iPhone Pro, iPhone Pro Maxbut I would rather they call iPhone mini, iphone, iPhone pro without anything. then every year the phone we just call it iPhone mini 2018 and so on. Then goes by 2018, 2019, 2020 model... just like the MBP would be cool. Edit: I don't quite like the term "Max" still prefer the old "Plus" haha. Max sounds like... Mi Max... Galaxy Max... QUOTE(westlife @ Oct 2 2018, 10:16 AM) i like the name of 'mini' as what i love my ipad mini hahaha. So XR = mini? Then XS = micro? i think if you go to apple store (apple's own flagship retail store) should be ok. Just dun go to their authorised dealers. like that it is better for you to buy from changi airport yourself since you can claim the free tax. 7% is not little. for those working in SG, buying using telco contract is certainly a better bet. for a public pricing monthly plan of S$95.90, 64GB iphone xs will S$638. The total cost of ownership price for 2-year contract of S$2,939.60 iphone xs - S$1649 retail price. with the same plan above, if one is having corporate discount, it is only S$57.54 (after 40% discount) so the total cost of ownership price for 2-year contract = S$638 + S$57.54 x 24 = S$2018.96. then if port-over from another telco with this pricing plan can get S$200 off. total cost of ownership price for 2-year contract will be S$2018.96 - S$200 = S$1818.96. difference in price (signing 2-year contract with telco vs no-contract retail price iphone xs 64GB) = S$1818.96 - S$1649 = S$169.96. S$169.96 /24 = S$7.08 monthly for 6GB data + 1 GB (promotion - free 1 GB for 24 month) + unlimited calls and SMSes. for XR, it will be even cheaper. haha. https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/feature-app...plan-comparison |
