Erm not really, Apple has been using that name for ages now since iPhone 4s if im not mistaken. Just a name for their displays, doesnt mean its high res.

Yea bro, but with iPhone X used one cost the same, with stainless steel case, dual lens and OLED screen is tempting too... A12 is only 15% faster than A11 though

I think if you've used the 5S for so long, you definitely deserve an upgrade! Bear in mind the 5S is a 5-year-old phone.

Apple says the Xr will last 1.5 hours more than the 8 Plus, which means it should be the phone with the best battery life in this year's line-up. The Xs Max has a bigger physical battery capacity but it's a bigger screen and has higher resolution hence it'll need more juice. Besides, if the preorder price as reported by Soya Cincau is true then the base model will already cost upwards of RM5k, which is a lot. The XR at 3k++ is a good deal, but the current discontinued X is also still a good deal at 3k++ now. So if you need the high resolution and OLED display, hunt around for some good deals on the X, I saw some listings for about 3800 for a new one in the Garage Sale. If you're not willing to spend more than 3k then the iPhone 8 is also a good buy. Although the design is four years old and it uses the old Touch ID instead of Face ID, it's still a reliable phone and can still perform more than adequately.

I've been using iPhones since iPhones 4, and I change every year, with my pre-loved phones being handed over to my wife eventually. She's currently using the iPhone X (and may I add happily) which was my last iPhone, so technically I'm "downgrading" to the Xr

Yep. Although the specs offered by android competitors are much tempting, iphone is still really a good software/hardware experience. I dont think any android phone would have lasted me near 5 years other than iphones (im still using a 5s)

then if port-over from another telco with this pricing plan can get S$200 off.
total cost of ownership price for 2-year contract will be S$2018.96 - S$200 = S$1818.96.

difference in price (signing 2-year contract with telco vs no-contract retail price iphone xs 64GB) = S$1818.96 - S$1649 = S$169.96.
