haha..only reason i want it to get tough is so it won't hurt next time...its quite tedious to always put dental wax and remove when eating...
*

I dont remove my dental wax wor. Sometimes swallowed, i'm still alive. tongue.gif
And at one period, i had dental wax 27/7 for few months. Then after a while the wire doesnt poke so easily then i stop using edy.
IF really dont like putting wax for long term, just ask doctor to cut it off. smile.gif

oh....i get it. :> I got that too. IF too pain i will use wax. until not to painful i will remove it. and i think, either ur skin will toughen or movement of teeth will get comfortable slowly. :>
Be patient ya.

To those who've had experience with this, I'd like some recommendations of good doctors/clinics which offer (AND recommend) InOvation treatments, particularly the ceramic one. From what I've read here, the additional investment does pay off in terms of comfort and reduced treatment durations. Also, some cost range expectations would be nice. I currently reside in Subang USJ, so anywhere within the KL/PJ vicinity should be fine.

Another point of inquiry, what is the average delay between the first appointment and the actual installation of the braces?

Thanks. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. smile.gif

To answer this question:

Another point of inquiry, what is the average delay between the first appointment and the actual installation of the braces?

Basically its up to you. U want to do it on the same day also can. OR u hav to see whether the doctor's available for schedule.
I'm using In-Ovation ceramic and done mine at How's Orthodontics in Bangsar Baru.

I've a minor request... Can some of the seniors here post some before and after/current photos. Just for motivation purpose.
*
Seniors like me and Kentcp had posted pics of us many many times. Too lazy to post again and later ppl ask again.... Same for some questions that we seniors had shared many many times and we do not what to repeat ourselves.

Seldom lah, usually the dentist will ask u to go for X-ray, explain to you the whole process, quote a price, maybe extract some teeth, take a mould, put dental separators if necessary.

Hard to put in braces in one day. One week more reasonable.
*
It also depend if the appt and time allow. Btw, the doctor are called Orthodontist not dentist. Dentist are ur normal dental doctor where else i believe orthodontist has higher qualification and are allow to do braces for you.

OouucchhHH... Juz went for appointment with my doc and she put the rubberband to close gap.. It feels so tight n numb ler now..
when i talk i feel kinda difficult cos the rubberband holding my mouth cant open too big so funny lor... sweat.gif

Is the powerchain comes in metal type where the doc can twist it and put ard the brackets one?

Like very mah fan leh this type of rubberband... when eating hv to take off n put back again.. very susah for ppl like me who always want to eat one leh..

Aiyoh now i very lazy to talk n open my mouth.. the most happiest time is when makan time cos can take out the thing and eat!

Doc said i have to wear it for one month.. How bout u all?
*
Yes, powerchain does comes in metal. As mentioned b4, i'm having it now. Can show pic of ur rubberband? Very had to determine if not looking at pic. There are too many types of rubberband involve in ortho treatment.

That's what I thought too. But any dental surgeon who took the ortho course can do braces actually. But of course an orthodontist knows better, I;m going to an orthodontist as well.
*
U mean for ur braces or are u doing the course? Which doctor u went to?

Sorry, I did not make myself clear enough. I mean if there are any latest photos that show latest progress. Not those that the seniors have already uploaded previously. Anyway, it's ok if it's a hassle to upload photo.

As for the orthodontist and dentist terms, I notice there are many dentists out there who perform orthodontics treatments as well. Any general dentist who has taken the short orthodontics course can actually do that, normally at lower cost. However, I would still prefer to go to orthodontist. Here's a website to search for orthodontists in Malaysia.

Malaysian Association of Orthodontists
*
Latest photo...Hmm...probably the rest can share. As for myself, not much noticable progress since my last photo. Probably yourself, LEng_leng and few other can share some pics.

Yes, i strongly agree to go for proper orthodontist. My sister has a friend who is in bracing treatment too. Not sure if her doctor is qualified enuff. Her progress is terrible, Extracted teeth and it cause her look like a squirrel now. Then the doctor doesnt want to admit his fault and say she has to go for gum surgery. At the end, she changed doctor. Her new doctor also proof that her past treatment had gone wrong. So scary, so better choose a good doctor, pay a bit more or u'll regret forever.

OMG! From 0 extraction to 4!

I heard from friends who did braces with extraction. They said the least painful stage in doing braces is the extraction part. Not sure how true is it. Let's see what our seniors here think.
*
Least painful? Hahaha....no comment. tongue.gif

Hey people, my tooth are relatively straight, the only problem is my jaw is kinda protruding. The middle line of my upper & lower tooth doesn't meet anymore, which means my jaw is moving one side. Will braces be of any help? Thanks in advance
*
What do u mean by ur jaw moving to one side? Do u mean ur upper and lower jaw are not symmetrical?
If yes, i'm sure braces can help ur condition. Where
else u mention abt ur gum issue, depending how serious it is. IF not very serious, it can be treated via ortho treatment but also depends very the doctor provide the service.

Get some advice from dental surgery clinic and orthordontic clinics maybe?

I suggest go for 3 or 4 orthodontists. i went to 3 dentists before Dr. How and all of them said that I've to extract 4 teeth. Only Dr. How said that I don't have to extract any.
*
True. Moreover, surgery is not a small minor thing. What happen if its not necessary? then it will be too late. No harm to see a few more doctor b4 deciding. I believe the cost for surgery is not cheap also lo...

Try How's Orthodontics & Dental Surgery. Many of us are his patients.

61-1, Jalan Telawi Bangsar Baru, 59100 Kuala Lumpur.
Tel: 603 - 2284 5529
http://drhowkc.com/

I think Damon system is around RM6k for top and bottom excluded x-ray, moulding, extraction if needed. If only top, i think the cost will cut into half.

My little cousin sis did her bracing treatment for her upper jaw only. No extraction and only 6 months of duration. She has straight teeth now but i feel that it would be nicer if she did extraction. Why i said that is bcos her jaw is protruding... u know like what they say Horse teeth?

Something like tat la... I recently took a pic with her. I feel that her teeth are really obvious lo. and she shows a lot of gum when she smile... i'm glad tat my result is far better than hers.

Your smile not bad ma. smile.gif I just went for appt two days ago. Dr changed thicker wire for me. So thick le and its black color. So now cos the wire are so thick, my braces are more visible.

My 7th month of wearing traditional braces and I'm loving every moment! I don't have before pic, but here is my current teeth:

I had protruding teeth, like malay call it "jongang" and couldn't cut foods with my front teeth (bite gap?). But just after 5~7 months wearing, no more!  wub.gif
Can't wait to tighten every month, although a bit painful, but when I see my teeth become more and more aligned, I think it's worth it!

Some ppl have the blocker on for longer time. I believe it depends on the situation. I experienced the same thing when i had it on. But however, i grind teeth in my sleep. So the blocker chipped bit by bit. I still had it on (1 yr edy), but its very very small piece left only, So it didnt affect me when i eat.

I still swallow my food, for eg: noodles. Even sausage. I bite and chew just a bit to make it smaller piece, then swallow in... I think its a habit edy.

Woah I think you made me snap into reality. I thought he wasn't serious about 6 weeks.
I can't imagine eating this way for a month plus ! But then again, I may just get use to it.
Problem is I don't cook at home and .. its troublesome when I can't simply eat outside.
Hectic life !

Haha...what to do, paid so much edy wor.. So have to bertahan lo. In the beginning stage of my treatment, i even drink those nutrition shake to get balance nutritions. My mom does cook at home but she doesnt understand that i couldnt chew. She cook all meat and hard food. U know what? i ended up just spoon up whatever sauce from the dish and swallow with rice only. that is when i feel like crying. So i bought the nutrition shake to tahan lapar lo.
