Bro Ice,
What is the model of the rod?

There's plenty of models in Lemax range.

I have used few Lemax and honestly, they have very good blanks. The best lemax rod that i have used is Lemax Ferarri Stik. It's 9 feet and i was using them for popping GT. It can handle popper the size of 20cm and at the weight of 180grams.

I can't remember the name cause i just got it like 10pm last night.. bought by one of my unker friend in klang one.. its made in china....tough guides.. but only 5 guides.. (sad case) but its stated there it can carry max 50gram lure.. so i think its quite good for casting but then distance wise no comments la. hehe

All Lemax is made in China but using Japanese technology.

I doubt Lemax would want to compromise their quality smile.gif

50grams ka? Good for casting but not good for jigging...You see, if you were to load in a 40gram jig and when you jig upwards, due to the water resistance and the weight, the weight of the jig increased, thus maximising the rod's bend.

However, this could be solved if the rod blank is thick wall and having parabolic curve.

If it's thick = heavy, can lift heavier but it's thin and looks like rigid, very parabolic, like Takadum G blanks by XZoga.
If it's thin = light, thin wall, usually fast tapered, the bend is usually more towards the front and not advisable to bend to the butt.

The idea is simple, thick wall blanks are like having 2 times thin wall material. The bend is different, pumping power is also different, weight in which equivalent to holding 2 rod to fish lor.

Thanks for the info.. very informative.. Well.. i think its a thick walled one.. its quite a thick rod for a 6 feet one. i like the most is the part where the 2 rod joints. they secure the rod with another layer of thread and also epoxy. I think its quite a parabolic rod.. but yet to try the bend of the rod.. alone ma.. how to try wor..

So it would be good if you have a look at it.. then comment base on the workmanship and quality..

Bro Nicotine,
Thank you very much for the informations.

What was the weight of jig that you were using?

Talking about boat, is there any alternative where other boatman can bring us fishing there?

As for jigging, it is not so much dependable on tides, more to like the actions of it and the jig presentation.

Does the boat have sonar?
*
-i tried 80g and 120g jig only 120g jig able to reach bottom sweat.gif
-other boatman hrmm not sure bout that ... need to check that out la.
-the boat dont have echo sounder or sonar gadget.. only a living sonar which is our tekong himself whistling.gif anyway we do have a gps.

It's a 2 piece rod?

If it's a 2 piece, the bend are usually on the front part of the rod only, cos the 2nd piece are usually made stronger. That's why you can see the 2 piece rod break in middle not at the bottom half. smile.gif

Unless the 2 piece rod is handler and the blank itself.. smile.gif Then it should be very parabolic.. smile.gif

Bro Ice,
Tho i have made my own lure using wood, i have not tried on molded lure. Try search on the internet, i remember seeing some infos.. smile.gif

Otherwise, buy some cheap jigs, file and cut it into your desired design.. smile.gif

Added on June 13, 2007, 12:00 pmBro Ho,
I didnt bring the stuffs to office today so i am unable to show you guys of the rod that i have near-completed.

Furthurmore, now i'm awaiting the 1st layer of epox to dry and apply a 2nd layer of epox to the rod.

Honestly, of all the rods that i have made and customised, this is one that i truly proud off after the spiral wrapped casting rod smile.gif

I have tried lifting the rod with 250gram jigs and it does not sustain the vibration much when i did some jigging techniques. I think the optimum jig weight would be 200grams.

Best part of all is that the rod is super light with thick walled blanks. Also the material is spirally built up and the diameter of the rod is thin for it's class. smile.gif

As per testing, the rod is PE2~4 or PE3~5 rating based on the jig weight that it can take. Will fully test the rod this coming P9 session.
