The rod that i intend to build is a 2 piece jigging rod. The 2 piece as in handle 1 piece and the rod blank 1 piece. In such, the rod handle and reel seat will not bend due to the parabolic action of the rod. It's a PE3max rod. Very thin blank and thick wall, thus it can bend kaw kaw. I have yet to test the rod curve but i have tested it lightly. It's also a fast taper rod.

Bought the blank together with bro KLMT last saturday at Sykt Kepong. It's not an expensive blank but since it's thick walled, i dont mind purchasing it. smile.gif

I have completed the handle setup, have not done the guides as i have not purchased any guides yet.

These are the pics.

This is the handle setup. A curvy top EVA foam handle, reel seat, slanting middle palm rest and curvy bottom EVA for comfortable 'ketiak' fitting + gimbal for biggies smile.gif

Heavy wrapping on the handle piece. Smooth graphite and spiral for stronger handle piece. Also completed the short wrapping.

The rod blank, fast taper and it's spiral upwards. It's not smooth and you can feel the small little bumps. I intend to maintain the rough surface. Not going to paint or wrap it.

Wah bro rory.. terrer nya.. building your own rods as well.. superb la you..

Why not wrap it with epoxy. Why maintain the rough surface wor? hehe.. i still prefer smooth surface rods.. how long is your jigging rod?

Any plans this week for TT?? dinner ?? hehehe (psst... i got some slatwater talapia.. wanna try heheh)

Morning bro TCKwuan,
Welcome to our little lair for anglers. Should there be any questions or doubt, do post it up and we'll explor about it. For your information, this is our second thread as the 1st thread is hitting the limit of viewing.

Now, to your questions.
1. There are plenty of lure type and actions, not forgetting the shape to mimic the bait fish in that water hole. I would say practically all lure works, but you have to present it to the predator as a sick and panicking bait fish. smile.gif Hard for me to elaborate further, but do join us for some fishing and TT session. I'll be very glad to assist and explain. smile.gif

2. Fishing in KL that doesnt need money is practically all over the place near klang valley, but you need to explore it and keep fishing. All the photos that you have seen from page 1(this thread) is all natural places but to get there you might have to drive for about 1.5~2hours. smile.gif

3. Talking about lure, i'll explain it more for you when we meet up for fishing and TT. There are plenty of variation of lures and not easy for us to explain it to you here. smile.gif But you can refer to the old thread where i did a number of write up on the lures and how to manipulate the lures.

Do share with us - for us to know you better smile.gif
1. Where do you usually fish?
2. What setup do you use? Spinning or BaitCasting?

BTW, where's your hometown? smile.gif

Bro Ice,
I have been building my rod since last year. Have designed a spiral wrapped BC rod, a heavy+duty PE6 jigging rod and have been repairing my own rods.

I also have been doing some butt wrap on some of my purchased rods. smile.gif

It's nothing new to me, but if you wanna learn, i'll be more than glad to show you how it works step by steps smile.gif

I have not epox the rod yet as i have not completed the guides. Once i've done the guides and underwraps, i'll epox them altogether. smile.gif It's the surface of the rod which you can see the graphite wrapping clearly. I wish to maintain the look, rather than closing all the rod's best features smile.gif

Yum cha or yum seng or dinner also can la..no problem with that.. smile.gif

To all,
Since last week's TT have been cancelled, why not we make a dinner session for this week? We'll lepak at some nasi kandar place which is convenient for all of us. (Bro Ice, i wanna try your saltie talapia too tongue.gif)

Added on June 4, 2007, 11:37 amOhh yeah to add on to the rod building, i have designed it in such that a 2 piece jigging rod look like a 1 piece jigging rod. smile.gif

Show you guys when it's done smile.gif

What a beauty man.. i have a 6feet 6 medium action rod.. personalise according to my height and also my hand length for the most comfortable position.. well i didn't want to make a new rod as i have a few.. but after testing the rod blank strength i was "poisoned" to buy it.. hehehe..

the test was conducted while i'm holding the thicker end of the blank while sitting on the floor and the rod make eventuallu lift me up from the thinner end ... damn that rod is powerful.. but slack la.. 1 pcs rod.. but the power and strength is different compared to 2pcs..

ever since.. never left that rod when i go to sea hehehe.. moreover its damn light..
