read from xda-developers and modaco, try com4 and 4800 baud.

And, this one is important, don't touch any setting inside the "External GPS", else you have to hard reset to get the GPS working.

PS: I have not justify any statement, still wait patiently to get my own kaiser sad.gif . But personally, I'll consider information from xda-developers and modaco as "reliable source". Hope this will help.

BTW, does Mapking has GPS port auto configuration?

It has auto detect. Go to "File", "GPS/Tracking" (I think) and there's a menu where u can select ur com port and baudrate. There is also an option for auto detect.

But I think it has nothing to do with the com port coz my friend managed to detect 2 - 3 satellites... then nothing...

and it remained nothing for all eternity... shakehead.gif

If it were a com port problem, I doubt that it will even manage to get a fix onto the 2 - 3 satellites in the first place.

I am using Mapking provided HTC, got original serial number too
when u go in, choose GPS, then choose destination, then enter the location, and press destination again
then juz leave it on the dash board for awhile, for me is about 30 sec to locate the location
then when it is ready, it will be like a voice " GPS navigation started, please turn xxx"

when it is waiting for the signal, juz dont press anything

u can ask the guy ( i bought from PDA expert) to install the map, for me.. i got all the map for ASIA including Bangkok, sg, HK, taipei, tokyo etc etc and it is only 200mb+

p/s : pls bear in mind there wont be any signal if it is raining too heavily ... same to the Astro

Managed to get the GP to lock this morning. Took a while to lock though. But still better than my bro's E90.

I've written a review on this device here http://www.apedia.info/?p=145

One question, is there any free-community map for Mapking?

got mine. The shop gave me another piece of screen potector, the HTC throw in the box. But the size doesn't match exactly, they said they will call me when they found the suitable size.

The GPS connect really fast. Even I sit indoor, and today is cloudy day(penang), I still able to get 4-5 sattelite locked. But it shown my attitude -12m ??? huh??? no wounder my house tends to flood.... lol

Hahaha! That's funny ziyi. No wonder ur house always flooded. biggrin.gif

Hmmm... some ppl have trouble connecting to GPS, some ppl's connect quite fast.

Made a comparison with my friends' Tytn IIs. It seems it can only use Mapking R12 and not 2007. Anyone can confirm this?
