ErZresG2, I didn't try to use it for navigation yet, just make sure I get a lock on it with my Mapking 2007 and malsings map, that's it. I have a different device for navigation.
Anyway, seems quite a lot of ppl complain about the slow refresh. According to someone from xda-developers, you can use GPSgate to correct the problem. GPSgate is not free, but there's a free prog called gpsproxy which does the same, you might want to give it a try and see how. |

There's a guy from xda-developers who manage to get the 3D cube into the Ttyn II (not the flash edition), but it's not so responsive due to the difference nature of our touch screen. For those of you who are adventurous, go get the cab and try it.

cheesey,
some guys from a taiwanese website actually experience phone hanging due to incompatibility of simcard, so you might want to try using your phone without it see how it goes. |

I have my sms notification disabled but didn't face the freezing problem except for once where the startup suddenly become very very slow but it didn't hang. I reset it and everything back to normal, it happened just once.

tenable,
which tutorial you see in malsingmaps? Their wiki is actually very good and comprehensive, much better than what we have here. |

Tenable,
you have to setup your GPS to com 4 with baudrate 4800 too if you haven't done so. Then, look for GPS status monitor (or whatever they call it) in Mapking, launch it to see whether it sees any satelite or not. Initially, it will start with a few red dots on the globe image. Of course, make sure you are under open skies like what kerazul mentioned, it's the rule of thumb. |

tenable,
Make sure you get a fix, that's it. As of the usage, you should refer to the Mapking user manual which is downloadable from their website. |

devil98,
good enough for navigation use, but if you want it for geocaching, sports related tracking, then maybe not. |

To those who are trying to get GPS to work, it takes time for the GPS to get a fix (find your location). Some reported to wait for more than 10mins for the initial fix, especially under bad weather.

daceman,
IMHO, the latest GMXT really beats Mapking 2007. Glad to know that I am not the only 1 running it on kaiser. |

jmunchar,
No problem. If you are talking about Malsingmaps 2.14 (November version), yes, there are flaws, but nothing to do with kaiser, it's the map itself. |

QUOTE(jmunchar @ Nov 30 2007, 11:50 PM) Please read the Wiki in malsingmaps, especially the newbies section. If you are new, then 2.14 is out of your reach, you need contribution to get unlock code else your garmin can't open it, the instructions are clearly written in the forum. As of now, use their June map which is not lock. 2.14 has routing problem on certain coordinate, can't remember exactly. I am using 2.13. I learn all the way from the Wiki in malsingmaps, no problem unless you are lazy to follow the steps. |
