Why need to charge it? isnt that is the use of alternator to charge the battery when you use your car?

I don't drive too long a distance daily, something like 40km (to/fro work) so it may be a bit inefficient to only let the alternator does it work. So better do frequent charging (tickle charge mode) to keep the battery CCA strong.

Yup i know, just wondering coz he says batt still good after 5 years. so unless he rarely use the car, its abit impossible to reach 5 years.

my current batt is >2 years old iinm still no sign of dying soon. Century i think lol

The car that has battery lasting > 5 years is Audi A6 hybrid, it has 3 batteries, AGM crank battery, small EV assist battery and the enormous hybrid battery. All 3 located in the boot, not subject to any engine heat.

I do drive the car about 3 weeks (5D/week) every month. So it's not exactly hardly drive. The one that I regularly charging are the crank battery (the one that we use to crank start the car) and the EV assist battery. The small EV assist battery did not last for 5 years though, only 2.5 yrs.

Avoid maintenance free battery

I've been using maintenance free (MF) battery for many years and usually they last as long as wet battery I used before. Averaged around 3 years.

This is more like how matching the alternator and the battery. How frequent you drive.

last time my car battery changed approx one year once..

after changing 4 times in 3.5 yrs, i can't take it anymore, surprisingly got the battery sensor malfunction letter from the vendor. sent the car to be fixed in sc. hopefully now it will last longer.

Now I am abit concerned about my Axia, manual gear.
The car itself is already 1.5 yrs old. But already done 44,000km on its original battery. (I run alot due to nature of my work)
And I start the engine per day very frequently.

Recently bought a battery voltage meter from Mr Diy which plug into the cigratte lighter. So far with engine off it's showing 12.7 volts. Which is good. Once in a while goes down to 12.5V

But my question is, should I replace it soon with such high mileage? Engine still starts. I am closely monitoring my voltage meter.
And sometimes i switch on the aircond fan with the engine off just to blow some wind on my face while waiting, rather than running the engine.

Btw the car came with Panasonic battery. Non maintenance free Which i prefer. But its not a NS40 battery. It's rated in DIN.

Manual car, worryless. Later ask ppl push it if cant start.
You should start worry when your volt meter show less than 12.4 after overnight parking.
