Question to Amex owners who saved their card in Grab app.
Do you get prompted for OTP when paying for car rides? (apart from the first time u add the card)

Credit card successful transaction notification alert

anyone noticed the bank does not send such alerts if the online purchase was verified by OTP (MSOS/Verified by visa / Securecode)? I do get notified of all other types of purchase including paypal...

They moved all the important push notifications to the MAE app.
*
So that means MAE app has a more complete set of notifications than M2U App ? (assuming one meets the minimum android requirements)

........chasing for peanuts......

speaking of peanuts, what's the minimum spend for a particular transaction to earn Amex weekend cb ? seen someone mentioned it here but can't search back

i guess it's RM 0.20 ? cause 0.20 x 5% = RM 0.01 cb

I cant the link to t&c but basically the minimum cashback awarded has to be rm1. I use awarded because they accumulate based on calendar month
*
So in theory, if i make 100 transactions of RM0.20 each (all in same month) , shld get RM 1 monthly cb hmm.gif laugh.gif

There's one hypermarket in Old Klang Road which never gives me CC transaction alert on MAE app whenever i use Visa. Think i found out why ...they don't deduct available credit limit remaining until day T+2 hmm.gif

take the latest example:

my combined credit limit for M2C Visa + Amex = RM 10000

16 Sept morning - available credit per m2u site RM 10000
16 Sept lunch - buy something for RM50 at the store
16 Sept evening - available credit per m2u site still RM 10000
17 Sept - transaction not posted yet, available credit still RM10000
18 Sept - transaction posted, available credit finally RM9950

Weird. All other merchants i encountered will at least deduct available credit upon transaction. laugh.gif

for this txn, what is the txn date? biggrin.gif
*
Shown in M2U classic site:
Transaction date 16 sep
posted date 17 sep

It happened only when you use Paywave.
The merchant use offline approval (Approval code VLP111 instead of 6 digit numbers) for fast processing without going through real time verification. Maybank won't know this transaction till the transaction is posted. Therefore your available credit limit is not earmarked.
*
Great technical explanation TQ. I checked back my receipts & yes indeed merchant's bank is PBB and approval code VLP111.
Very interesting - i thought in today's highly connected urban areas, offline processing wld been phased out.
So what happens to merchant if :-
(i) cardholder maxes out credit limit shortly after VLP111 approval but before txn is posted/settled
(ii) the daily cumulative contactless purchase limit has already been reached when cardholder makes the VLP111 txn
(iii) stolen card used before the card owner manages to get bank to block it

Called up Amex helpline, told me to confirm with foodpanda first... and if is fraud then need to pay RM50 for card replacement while pending for the dispute, once dispute confirm is fraud only refund the RM50 .....

my sympathies u have 2 go thru this...i see not many others here mentioned they had to pay the replacement fee upfront - that's very scummy of tiger bank

Seems like Tiger is being crazy strict with Paypal purchases with Amex.
Normally i pay hosting bills ( less than 10 USD) every 3 months.
Yesterday i paid a bill worth USD 50 , it went through, but after that i couldn't purchase anything with Paypal anymore, card declined no matter the amount or merchant.
But the same Amex can continue to be used on Shopee

So i waited 24 hrs & today i could spend again. Didn't bother call CS

i think their system detect unusually high pattern & restrict further spending for 24 hrs...what a pain in the ***

So i got my replacement cards in the mail for my Amex+Visa which were going to expire in may 2023.

In the letter, there were 9-digit activation code for each card. what's the use of those? I was never prompted to input them when activating the new cards in M2U. lol

Bill Payment (AirPay Malaysia Sdn Bhd) via Shopee works for me using AMEX. I had added my card in prior to checkout, and it just shows up in the payment method options list. I used it last month during weekend, received cashback and this month during weekday with TP already credited.
*
Tks man, last time Amex didn't even work with shopee billpay

Just tested successfully with unifi, few secs later received SMS from TM confirming payment recvd. Good way to use some of my Sh*tpee coins AND get cashback at same time.

IINM mbb on July 1 , supposed to migrate from MSOS to secure2u approval for CC transactions, but i still continue to get MSOS OTP rclxub.gif

what has mobile number change related to adding AMEX into Lazada ?
*
Got me thinking too...how is it related to mobile number..
Nowdays maybank moved to secure2u , and no more SMS OTP already. Plus secure2u is tied to particular device, not mobile number

Curious. What if the fraud (assuming already posted) is big amount? Would Bank expect us to pay first while they Investigate & refund later?
