Yes, finally the bear has come to the US market, (and such an angry bear!). Other markets surely will be hurt tomorrow as well.

More downside is likely, but nevertheless, the current levels has triggered my "deploy those cash time" and I will go in several batches over the next weeks/months.

However, the problem now is that, looking at the carnage now, Im spoilt for choices. Should I buy S&P500, Europe, STI, KLSE, HSCEI, OnG, All are pretty low now. But funds are finite.

Appreciate some thoughts.

I wanted to enter Monday but he advised me not to. According to him, better to miss out on gains than to enter and get cut.

so how does he know when to enter? he'll advise you when he enters?

Interesting that earlier in this thread, everyone were talking about the futility of market timing. Now many market timing posts..

bull: buy now! Don't try to time the market! You'll never catch the bottom.

bear: FIND THE BOTTOM!! laugh.gif

so despite warren buffett getting grilled for years at AGMs for sitting at 60% cash, he is now the smartest? brows.gif

So what i am stating is that clearly selling everything or during a crash DID NOT work this year.. in fact, if you added into the sp500.. would have beat fixed deposit

I've S&P500 before the crash and average down once after crash, until now still not break-even. sad.gif

yeah i feel ya, the best thing you would have done was not to sell in March. Nov Dec Feb prices were high thats why average still skewed towards the high side

Long term investment yes ?

no reason to sell but also no reason to buy yet.

I don't sell easily ....

Just curious, what would you do if this happens tomorrow:
a. drops by 10%
b. drops by 30%
c. rises by 10%
d. rises by 30%

Not tempting you to buy or sell. Just wondering.  biggrin.gif  notworthy.gif
*
a nothing
b buy more
c nothing
d may rebalance portfolio depends on how much greater it is compared to other ETFs.

To quantify the gain/loss, your a,b,c,d are in line with this.

meaning? I don't understand. confused.gif

anyway, in light of current situation, I wouldn't buy more of SPX unless it's less than my average price.... until we are close to the finishing line for this pandemic.

I've other ETFs / candidates to buy in the mean time.
