Just got Mi8 during the launch. Already aware of POCO but didnt expect it to come so soon.
the release of Mi A2, Mi8 and POCO are too close from each other. EIN might suffer if they overbook the devices but who cares.
Since i got my Mi8, no point turning back la.
The only different between Mi8 and POCO i see are :
- AMOLED vs IPS screen (doesnt matter for me either but AMOLED much brighter la)
- 3600mAH vs 4000mAH (POCO won this part, just cannot brain why Mi8 dont put 4000mAH like RN5)
- 1899 vs 1429 (POCO cheaper)
- Dual GPS vs normal GPS (Not really sure how good is Dual GPS on Mi8)
-Steel back cover vs plastic cover. (not sure)
- No cooling system vs water cooling
Anyway, i managed to get the Amazfit BIP when purchase Mi8 la. The price was RM279.
So the phone is RM1620 + amazfit RM279 = RM1899
So my phone price and the POCO is difference by RM191 only, not so hurt la unless i don get the amazfit bip. LOL. I got AMOLED Screen and Steel back cover except the battery capacity and the water cooling. I guess steel back cover could dissipate the heat as efficient as water cooling thingy.
Anyway, my next phone would be 12GB RAM + 256GB ROM/512GB ROM in couple of years...
Used to have GPS prob which my Google map and waze dont work.. After reboot the Mi8, the problem gone.
The so-called liquid cooling is just heatpipe. If Mi8 has no heating and throttling issues, then adding heatpipe doesn't make much difference.
A few fhings you missed out: Poco has dual speakers and 3.5mm audio.

Those anti miui one ah, what are the reasons they hate miui?
I really considering go back to Xiaomi, but so many ppl hate miui, I'm concerned. Frankly, last time when I use Xiaomi, it started to lag after awhile. But that was the original redmi phone, and it was dirt cheap..
I am a EMUI user and I'm fine with it.
Most people hate MIUI because of how it mimic iOS look, but with deep menu and micro management. EMUI is also similar but with worse icons.

With all the hype with Pocophone suddenly feels like getting one

I am a casual user, dont have even a single game in my current phone, so will Poco a bit overkill for me?
And the notch is really a turn off... Can hide it but will look ugly
The cheapest 845 without a notch display is Mix 2S. Maybe you can consider that.

845 is good.
But performance is determined by optimization etc etc. Not only the processor.
Played with the phone at the shop. Somehow feels like its not optimised.
Speakers are not that loud even though got stereo speakers.
Basically u are just paying for that 845 chip which is not good enough
What u mean it's not optimised? Members below had totally opposite experiences than yours lol.

+Just tested Poco F1. Yeah really this phone is meant for performance and gaming, really worth to get. For that reason then can buy. Other than that not my liking.
-Screen quality very bad, color very bad, overall faded not saturated color. Other midrange Xiaomi device has better screen quality than this within same IPS LCD. For media consumption like YouTube or watch online drama, anime, movie doesn't look nice.
-Camera memang so so saja but given it is this price point so it is considered good.
-Design material and color doesn't matter, put on a case apa pun tak nampak dy.
Overall it is a good phone to use if main usage is gaming only and daily driver.
You're the first person I saw complained about the display. Most reviews have little complain about it, being an IPS panel. Having said that, the panel is not HDR10 compatible.
I started to doubt there are more than one LCD suppliers?
