I don't think anything other than a price reduction is going to cut it. It doesn't make sense to make non-contract pro plan customers to pay RM299 when other users who are under contract are paying only RM129 and no indication when the turbo upgrade would happen.

But ADSL and FTTH/VDSL is differences, and Fibernation plan will required multi-billion investments and more time needed to upgrade their infra...

Those you saw is either removed some junks bundles or kena complained and giving discounts to existing users.
This time is 10x TURBO speed upgrade, not really price reduction...

For existing customer that downgrade to RM129 package,
1) Contract 24 months
2) No new equipment. No warranty on old equipments.
3) If you have STB, can maintain the UNIFI TV though package does not provide STB.
In this case, i might as well, apply new account. At least i get new equipments with warranty then just use my old STB.

I am one of those on VIP10 UniFi 30Mbps (30 Mbps download / 10 Mbps upload) @ RM179 before SST (RM20 discount from RM199) and long expired contract.

Due to infra limitation (VDSL), highest speed obtainable is 30Mbps.

Thus, was thinking of saving money and getting better upload speed by jumping ship to MaxisONE Home Fibre 30 Mbps (30 Mbps download / 30 Mbps upload, which is the maximum for VDSL anyway) @ RM89 before SST which will save me RM90 from my current RM179 plan.

Only things holding me back were:

1. my preference to retain (nice) telephone number (which I actually don't use for outgoing calls since I have unlimited minutes on Maxis mobile); and

2. I am also not sure if Maxis has the call forwarding feature for their landline.

I don't care about torrenting/p2p but regularly watch Netflix/Hulu hence unifi basic plan 30 Mbps @ RM79 with 60GB quota won't suit my use case.
After the new unifi pro plan 100 Mbps @ RM129 (which is largely the same offer as Maxis 30 Mbps plan save for the telephone calls ie unlimited (Maxis) vs 600 minutes ™ and unifi TV pack) was announced today (6/9/2018), I went to TM Point to enquire on upgrade/downgrade.

Preference was to take the new unifi pro plan at RM129 (despite the RM40 premium over the Maxis RM89 plan) as even though I cannot obtain the max speeds (download of 100 Mbps and upload of 50 Mbps), at least I can shave RM50 from the existing RM179 to RM129 and perhaps get my uploads upgraded to 30 Mbps (of the max 50 Mbps), retain the unifi TV to syiok sendiri and need not worry about changing the telephone number.

However, the TM Point staff tried her best and informed me that despite her efforts, it was not possible to change my plan to the new unifi pro plan 100 Mbps @ RM129 as the system did not allow it, apparently due to the VDSL limitation.

I even told her that I don't care about obtaining the max speeds as I am well aware of the infra limitation and would be okay with 30 Mbps for both upload and download but she told me that it just couldn't be done.

tldr, I got a permanent discount of RM50 with no contract (no change to my plan and I now pay RM129 monthly before SST instead of RM179). Hopefully TM will announce some goodies for UniFi subscribers on VDSL who cannot be upgraded to 100/300/800 Mbps download speeds.

For you maybe bro, but it is good for me, and for others too. When compared to Asus routers, it is not overkill

and the customer need to go see them, red tape, almost begging to get price to rm129 - same price but still 1/3 of speed.

Yup, choice is easy for UniFi VDSL-ers who want the cheapest and don't need to retain/use the telephone line and TV packs nor care about torrenting/p2p, just switch to Maxis to get 30Mbps for downloads and uploads at RM89.

TM unifi basic RM79 + RM30 to remove 60GB cap (which is yet to be announced officially as at 6/9/2018) at RM109 will cost RM20 more than Maxis (RM89) but you do get some TV stuff and no torrenting/p2p concerns.

Lastly, if bandwidth and speed hungry but limited by VDSL, can try luck with MaxisONE Home Fibre RM129 package (100 Mbps download / 50 Mbps upload) since they will go on best effort basis (no one here able to provide figures yet but I reckon will be 50 Mbps max for VDSL).

For me, undecided whether to stick with TM UniFi since I was given discount such that I pay RM129 for 30Mbps download / 10Mbps upload - which I can still live with.

Switching to Maxis at RM89 + paying RM25 to TM to retain phone will cost RM114 monthly, which is just RM15 savings but throws away the TV pack and gets me into a fresh 24 months contract.
