Seeing got so many opting for 100mbps.. even some from 800 wanted to pay less for 100mbps..

Makes me wonder, do I need 300mbps? This is the way my house is using the internet

No more Astro,

Living room using mibox to run Astro go, parents and sister watching from astro go only. Sometimes Hypptv if watch NHK.

In my room, also watch astro go for on demand series. Some website drama streaming, iflix, playtv..  Mostly streaming.

Sometimes download torrent, ranging from 5-15GB .. movies..

I also backup photos to google drive. Upload is 50 vs 100mbps after upgrade.

I think that's pretty it.

So do you think I need 300mbps or 100mbps is more than sufficient for my use?
*
Astro Go don’t require much, it’s optimised so 100Mbps is more than enough. When I was on 100Mbps I had AG and downloads running concurrently with no prob.
Looking at your trend 100Mbps is more than enough.

i have been using unifi since 2010, currently i am paying RM249 for 100Mbps Unifi Pro. Is there any way to request for package discount since new package is only RM129 for 100Mbps?
*
Go to TM point to make that request.

Puchong should have Maxis Fibre service, using TM's Unifi network or their own network.
*
Maxis routes it to their network not TM. They only rent TM equipment to distribute service to your home.

My 30mbps Unifi turbo to 300mbps yesterday. However Max is 100mbps for LAN using CAT5 cable n  50mbps for WiFi.
BTU is HG8240w n Router Tplink AC1200.
WiFi tested on Xiaomi RN3,RN4 & MiMax, , Minix neo u1 n 2 laptops(802.11n, 2.4GHz).
I don't intent to upgrade any hardware just to accommodate 300mbps but would at least like to optimise the usage of the new speed. Any suggestion?
1. In order to get 300mbps  I need to get 2 CAT5e/6 cables for BTU-Router & Router-PC right?
2. Where to learn how to tweak my existing modem n router so that my wifi devices can run at the highest possible speed?
3. How to know if a device can run on 5GHz?
*
That’s because you’re using Cat5. Change to Cat 5e

Yes that is correct. If you have some Cat 5e laying around then you don’t have to spend money to get them, or ask your friends if they have any.

But Puchong is quite special for Maxis fixed-line business. Some areas in Puchong already covered by Maxis fixed-line (03-5882xxxx) since late 1990s! Maxis should have their own infra there and not necessarily rent from TM.
*
I think it is not because they don’t want to lay down their on infra but gomen tak bagi. You know la.. TM monopoly etc.. which left them no choice but to pay TM to roll their service out.

I got a call from some one claiming from Maxis and he say I am selected loyal customer to enjoy home broadband at 800mbps at the price of RM 178 with unlimited call, and he said the package infor will be posted to Maxis Website soon. Anybody got such call? Or it is a scam call?
*
Did you accept? RM178 is really reasonable. I’d jump if it was real.

Hmmm, for some reason I now am unable to reach 500mbps... now averaging about 350mbps. Using AC68U and was able to get 500mbps previously... dry.gif

The speeds aren’t stable at all, I’ve never once achieved 800Mbps from dl. The weirdest thing is I can’t get 800Mbps through TM Speedtest, but TIME, Webe can..

You happy or not? Your room to router is like Pudu to Puchong.
