my dumb question, Im on Unifi Lite 10mbps should i wait for turbo (schedule 2019 upgrade) or apply Unifi Pro 100mbps?
new unifi user (May 2018)
turbo speed same with new pro plan.
price also same  hmm.gif
*
You can go TMpoint and ask for upgrade to 100Mbps, why wait until 30 June 2019?

None of LITE got turbo yet, except those new install start from today.

Exactly

they always punish the early adopters . like one forummer said he still kana charged rm 329++ for 100mbps while I got rm 229++ and now RM129++ for the same 100mbps line!

sure people make noise one!
*
LOL...
Later 2020, the MSAP will drop half some more, then you complain again?

Learn how to multi-quote. https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?act=faq&article=10

Sorry too many posts for me to catch up, can I ask regarding this RM 129 100Mbps plan? If existing users, downgrade need to pay for penalty right if under contract?
*
NO PENALTY no matters you upgrade/downgrade (but unsure same plan like 100Mbps can change to new 100Mbps or not.)

Notes:
Contract will renew no matters your contract ended.
No more turbo, as gave turbo ahead.
No changing equipment except BTU if faulty.
Must go TMpoint youself ONLY.

All above answer can be found inside their NEW faq.

My Turbo to 800Mbps still no news, will change to this plan first since my sister requests for it as she's the one paying bill every month. sweat.gif

Well, in a way, she was right too. Eventually TM will start throwing price for Turbo plans. laugh.gif
I already planned to walk-in Menara TM in these few days since that's the nearest to my office.
*
That's was EXACTLY thanks to NEW Maxis Fiber, TM was copied it and allowed existing users switch to TURBO-AHEAD plans and re-contract instead of penalty.
Maybe stop bleeding (jumpship) to Maxis and TIME...

Anyway..
13.2 Any request by the Customer for upgrades or downgrades of his unifi Service package plan at any time during the Minimum Subscription Period shall be subject to TM’s written approval which approval shall not be unreasonably withheld. For any allowable upgrades or downgrades as aforementioned, installation, activation and any other applicable fees (for downgrade only) will be charged to the Customer at a rate specified by TM from time to time

Wow tm being as vague as usual. Doesnt have to be rm200, can be modified on case by case basis it seems..

Find solutions to improve Internet access, Gobind tells TM

KUALA LUMPUR (Bernama): Broadband service provider, Telekom Malaysia ™, needs to find ways to improve Internet access and penetration nationwide, says Gobind Singh Deo.

The Communications and Multimedia Minister said it was the government's policy to provide broadband Internet access to the people and to give emphasis to the best quality of service.

β€œIt is the government's policy to provide access to all, not only the supply, but also the best quality of service, while at the same time being able to compete with other countries at the international level,” he tweeted on Monday (Sept 10).

Turbo got activated last Monday (3/9) and I'm happy as can be (600++dl, 200++ul)

Facing a minor issue tho, when I'm downloading direct from router at max speed , there seems to be green artifacts/screen tearing on Unifi/IPTV. Remember those days when it starts to rain and astro has those jittery pictures? Well yeah that's what i'm seeing.

Double checked the connections in case there are loose connectors but nope. Problem goes away when I remove the LAN cable connected to my comp direct from router.

Is it possible that @ ~800 mbps, the bandwidth to my BTU is soo saturated that IPTV is competing with my internet? Anyone who already got 800mbps upgrade having the same issue? Fyi I have the Huawei HG8240 BTU and the D-Link DIR-850L router with CAT 6 for all connections.
*
IPTV using addiotional bandwidth to streaming, could be limitations of DIR-850L...

β€œIt is the government's policy to provide access to all, not only the supply (hints at turbo), but also the best quality of service, while at the same time being able to compete with other countries at the international level,” he tweeted on Monday (Sept 10).Β Β

The minister also asked TM to re-evaluate its Streamyx broadband service, which was alleged to be less satisfactory.Β Β

He said this in response to complaints that the Internet access in several locations in the country was still unreliable, despite users being charged with unreasonable price.Β Β

β€œTM needs to explain the problem with Streamyx and what is the constraint, in terms of infrastructure, that hampered the speed, and they need to propose some measures to solve this problem.Β Β

Bye bye tm. Good luck justifying cost of streamyx. What should happen to tm if a mamak shop operator in Sabah was fined rm30,000 for selling iced milo for rm3.20 (too ex according to complainant)?

Perhaps TM still making juices from Slowmyx users? since their last quarters made RM100 mils... brows.gif

*
Relax, for better understanding...

Mbps or Kbps is refer for those plan offers, 1024Kbps = 1Mbps, and 1000Mbps = 1Gbps (also can refer as Kb/s)

While KB/s or MB/s, just divide by 8, eg. 10Mbps you get 1.25MB/s (but reality you will get a little lesser)
**This normally for your file transfer speed, to calculate remaining download time.

802.11g : 6,9,12,18,24,36,48,54 Mbps

You need 10/100/1000 for WAN, and LAN also if connected using cable.

Better ask @Soon Wai for wifi

How do i correctly set it up? I don't really know... what to click inside...
*
go router portal and find 20/40Mhz instead of 20Mhz.
Even you set it, expect 50-70Mbps for 2.4Ghz wifi.

--
Actual wireless speeds vary significantly from the above theoretical maximum speeds due to:
distance - distance from the access point, as well as any physical obstructions, such as walls, signal-blocking or reflecting materials affect signal propagation and reduce speed
interference - other wireless networks and devices in the same frequency in the same area affect performance
shared bandwidth - available bandwidth is shared between all users on the same wireless network.

In addition, net IP layer throughput of WiFi is typically 60% of the air link rate due to WiFi being half-duplex with ACKs, and being CSMA/CA. The number of simultaneous connections, and even the type of wireless security can affect and slow down some older routers with inadequate processors/memory.

Below is a breakdown of actual real-life average speeds you can expect from wireless routers within a reasonable distance, with low interference and small number of simultaneous clients:
802.11b - 2-3 Mbps downstream, up to 5-6 Mbps with some vendor-specific extensions.
802.11g - ~20 Mbps downstream
802.11n - 40-50 Mbps typical, varying greatly depending on configuration, whether it is mixed or N-only network, the number of bonded channels, etc. Specifying a channel, and using 40MHz channels can help achieve 70-80Mbps with some newer routers. Up to 100 Mbps achievable with more expensive commercial equipment with 8x8 arrays, gigabit ports, etc.
802.11ac - 70-100+ Mbps typical, higher speeds (200+ Mbps) possible over short distances without many obstacles, with newer generation 802.11ac routers, and client adapters capable of multiple streams.

At wifi status its say my internet link is 300Mbps hmm maybe i guess the 300Mbps is combined Wifi Upload and Download speed bandwidth? 144+144 = 288
*
thumbsup.gif I see, then make sense.
1 stream 144Mbps, 2 steam got 288Mbps.
Wifi on half duplex only, so you got 100ish Mbps for your 802.11n wifi.

Hmmm, not yet compared to my past experiences.
IF around 20-30 2.4Ghz wifi hotspot, still connect-able.
But exceeded 30+ 2.4Ghz wifi then you will kept get kicked out and extremely slow unstable wifi speed due to many overlapping channel. (5Ghz still surf-able)
