Hi guys, I have read the guides in the first page. It says in order to fully utilise TURBO , you need to have a suitable BTU (modem??)

I received my upgrade on Friday evening, from 50mbps to 500mbps. However I am only getting 280mbps max by using LAN and 130ish Mbps on WiFi 5ghz.

My router is a ASUS RTAC55UHP (AC1200) , so by right i should be able to get the max speed if not something close. I am using CAT6 cable , but the cable from modem to Router is CAT 5e (nevertheless it's still sufficient to support based on unifi page). Therefore I am suspecting that my modem needs an upgrade.

The modem that i am using is I-240-GP not I-240-G (Silver) , you may refer to the picture below. Does that mean I have to change the modem? If yes, would I be able to request a change from TM for free? Just asking here before I call TM.

Thanks !

can pm the link to me? i am chinese malaysian haha.

Replace the CAT5e to new cable CAT6 and test again, if still same most likely your router reached bottleneck or under pilot phase.

TM came and replaced my router with DIR842 with MU-MIMO.

Package is 500Mbps.

They tested with their thick Cat6 cable on their and mine devices and achieved 520+ Mbps.

They tested 2.4 Ghz and got about 170+ to 200+ Mbps.

And 5ghz above 200+ .
Now , I got 3 questions.

1. Does this router sufficient for the time being before I buy something better to ultilize 300Mbps and above on Wi-Fi?

2. How so no login to the Router? They set it up and now I forget to ask for the password. I found there's user password on the bottom, do they use that during set up?

3. They recommend me getting new Wi-Fi adapter with A.C and I have one in mind, DWA182, should be good for getting close to 500Mbps or DWA192?

They tested my Cat5e and strangely it maxed at about 90mbps
*
LOL, eventually you still called TM like I've said very very early!!
It's your router and faulty cable caused it.

Unless you demanded 300Mbps+ for your smartphone, otherwise current setup is enough for you.

Default password inside the router box, should be default used.
BEWARE that, you might screw the settings if you are not familiar, BETTER STAY AWAY from it.!!

FGS! just shut up and enjoy your internet service. Don't mess with it. It works, just let it be. You are the reason Apple devices were invented.
*
changing SSID and password is no need, so that TM technician can help you troubleshoot outside ur house which should got 1 month warranty.

like DNS and channel, just let it AUTO, you are not suitable for adjust it.
But if you want, your router login username/password is inside router manual, USE IT AT YOUR OWN RISKS, I'm not going help you if GG again...

No lol... I not stingy.. I have limited funds atm.

I purchased RT-N12BHP back when still 50mbps last year. Never though this year it won't enough. And since it's only 50mbps, the shop recommend me that router.

And the cable is I bought way before the asus router, rarely used . I don't even know back Then when I first bought It, cat ratings...

I am indeed will be getting DWA878 the next month and getting the DWA192 for now to at least have A.C adapter.

The cat5e supplied along with hypptv back when vip5. It has 3 to 4.

I made a request for TM technician to come and check what's the problem before I went ahead and buy the DWA878 and 182/192 and the problem still exist of unstable LAN and Wi-Fi speed due to Pilot Phase.

I can always switch to AC53 if that's better than DWA182/192.

I find it unlikely since you already refreshed your contract and accepted that DIR842.

Anyway, DIR842 only has 2x2:2 configuration, so over 5Ghz with 2x2:2 wifi adapter, best case wifi speedtest will be 400Mbps without interference from neighbouring 5ghz hotspot.
Don't complain about not reaching 500Mbps again with wifi.
*
brows.gif I'm so curious he will choose RM3xx bill shock or renew contract?

I know it won't reach 500Mbps, around 300 to 400 is already good .
*
300-400 is short distance which is close to your router and without obstacles...
Otherwise 2.4Ghz will be good around 100-200Mbps since you're quite far away from router.

How do ppl get so high on 2.4ghz....
*
play around with wifi channel and channel width, after analysed nearby wifi hostpot. DIR850L max 2.4Ghz around 16xMbps so far...

QUOTE(StuartLee2015 @ Sep 16 2018, 03:49 PM)
You all misunderstood me.

I accept the renew contract to get the router to at least have a decent router for now than using RT-N12BHP before upgrading to better router when I got next month pay.
*
I see, so you went for renew contract, but Technicians didn't charge you since it's on-site visiting?

Channel 11?
Have you tried out other channel for faster wifi speed?

My Channel 9 is optimum since over dozens of useless hotpots kept overlapping each others... puke.gif

Well, that is 54% of 300Mbps 802.11N 2x2:2. Close to the effect 60% theoretical limit.
*
So, no ways to get faster than 60% then? what's if get 3x3 router?
Just RM53* for site-visiting?

ac : single stream 80Mhz channel width link speed = 433Mbps
n : single stream 40Mhz channel width link speed = 150 Mbps

60% of overall 'link speed'. It doesn't matter how many streams.........

802.11AC actually has more 'inefficiency' than 802.11N........somewhere around 55% compared to 802.11N

QUOTE(miloaisdino @ Sep 16 2018, 04:13 PM)
My 4x4 aztech gr7008 can only nego with devices max 866mbps due to many 2x2 devices around the area. But 866mbps can get up to 520mbps download, 600mbps upload using a 3x3 client... which ya arnd 60% download max lol

But on a 2x2 client only max arnd 400mbps. So yes number of streams matters.
*
Niche thumbup.gif but it's 5Ghz, right?
iPhone Xs coming soon, maybe you can get full speed of 800Mbps later?

I asked the same thing, kind of since I haven't got my 800 yet, from 189 to 129. TM said if "out of contract" which I am even though I shouldn't be, no charge. If under contract, got charge. I didn't ask how much. Also contract will be renewed.
*
I also under-contract, but no charges at all.

QUOTE(GamerKid @ Sep 16 2018, 05:24 PM)
Lucky, I'm still paying 329 for 100mbps. Ask for a discount, they proudly refuse to give me. Plus, my contract ended.
*
Then you can opt for new 100Mbps BEST plan, with remain STB and STD20 at RM129, unless you demand for the 800Mbps turbo speed. brows.gif

QUOTE(soonwai @ Sep 16 2018, 05:39 PM)
Same here. Many websites in US slow. EU seems ok. China too, I guess, cause my wife is complaining her TV show stopped streaming.

with that being said...
i just ran a speedtest on my pc downstairs (dlink cat 5e) at 257 mbps
while my pc upstairs is only 203 mbps (CK-LINK cat 6)

does that mean i got a cheap cat 6 cable?  theoretically cat 6 should be better than 5e right?
*
length of cable pls?

Currently on 300Mbps RM139 TURBO-ed plan. Compared to the new 100Mbps RM129 plan, I actually need the STD20 way more than the +200Mbps increase in speed. Can't downgrade since still under contract.  doh.gif
*
can, but no need as re-contract will apply.
Just enjoy ur 300Mbps at RM10 extra.

stupid question, but is the 100Mbps plan available for a high rise copper residential location? Still stuck with VIP 20 because I need the unlimited upload bandwidth for work reasons, and while the new 30Mbps plan is cheaper, it has lower upload speed and data cap as well
*
Nop, you have to wait.
Otherwise jumpship to Maxis Fiber or TIME Fiber for faster upload speed.

got confirmation that my unifi turboed to 800mbps, but the problem is BTU unit not support such connection. need to change the BTU unit, but then the biggest problem is, my contract with unifi alread end last month. So my unifi not applicable for new replacement BTU unit. I only got 2 option :-
1. get new free device, but contract will renewed.
2. purchase own device, then contract wont be renewed.

eh jilake laa TM
*
BTU got lifetime warranty, no need re-contract.
You meaning router, is it?

Anyone already got Turbo-ed using Unifi Lite FTTH 10Mbps to 100Mbps?

Only spotted 1-2 LITE users got turboed, 1 got full speed, another 1 only got 30Mbps...

QUOTE(bxblade @ Sep 17 2018, 01:04 AM)
yeah, just realized that, infact the livechat person also missed that. zzzzz
my router more than capable to handle gigabit connection, the only problem here is the BTU unit.
so hopefully when the technical team pay their visit, everything will go smoothly without any payment or newly contract
*
Rmb check again with Technicians later, should got on-site charges in your next bill if it's router faulty but not BTU.
