Yo, I had collected 10 signature so far for my housing area. I will forward this signed petition for Unifi next week during my day off. My mama know the TMPOINT branch manager on personal basis, so that should be easy to forward my case to her and the petition. The question will be how much would they layan petition, do TM people take this group interest seriously or just masuk shredder one? I seen some poster did something similar then Unifi enter his housing area months later. My area still streamyx. Another 500m some housing area have UNIFI. Kinda ridiculous 2018, they can’t dedicate a website to take on people survey. 😤😤. Wasting time kejar non available neighbour and got kejar by anjing.

If their SOP answer is “Suruh you jiran sign demand banyak banyak nanti TM pasang”, there is only one way to find out. And surely there some truth to it. My dedication in this is actually based on my bantuan usahawan bumiputra I just got granted. I kinda rely on internet with high upload speed and low latency to set up my egrocery shop. Streamyx kinda frustrating to use when I upload stuff to web hosting or wordpress content upload.

Can’t blame you for that, the difference between Streamyx and Unifi is night and day. Good luck with your business, bro.

Yes TM should realise the importance of 'Upload speed' for uploading contents for home business and entrepeneur. Streamyx 512kbps upload speed for all streamyx package will slow down the productivity and sometimes just error and causing more trouble because the upload speed too slow , stuck and disconnected uploading Gigabytes of data files.

Really they just damaging Malaysian economy indirectly by their monopoly. Hope minister realize this.

10 signature is way too little. one area needs minimum 80% of request from household before TM will really come to install the infra for free. else one street requires rm20k++ to install the infra if one wants to request them to come.

Perhaps this is a mission impossible for just 10 signatures. My dad even did go to find the chairman for help. Hope the management can help us and go to TM to request for Unifi coverage but in the end, we still ended up with no Unifi coverage at my residence area.

New update,
Now I got 23 signatures, my mailbox got lots of signed petition. I think I gave out 70 flyer petition on neighbour mailbox. 10 people sign head on. And that included 3 business premises as our housing place got commercial lots. 28% turnout. Probably I gonna give till this end of month to get more people on this rally.

Dude... I plan to do it too... lol..

in Seremban, Lobak... TM is like picked all the riched area to expand with UNIFI, just left few area alone and i'm one among. even the hillside taman next to me receive already.

some might says we're wasting time. But this what we really can do for our future.. those who already in 30/50/100mbps up and down just can't imagine how miserable of our life with streamyx 512kbps up down....

i still can tahan when i was living in my hostel where UNIFI is available before, when i came back my home. just my sister playing a youtube, entire house users will get gg. Same goes for my google drive sync... i remember 1gb of stuff take almost 2 days and the circle still turning like hell... lol

don't even mention the thunderstorm raining time....

just hope it really work for you, and also the one i plan to conduct will go fine as well.

A few tips from me, make a nice looking flyer one page dedicated to your contact, google form and mailbox address. Explain about your petition in your area. Another page is to fill in their detail, name, NRIC, address, speed interested, and signature. Depend on some manager, in my case, she said, given NRIC is a form of consent that replace signature on google form.

The most important for me was explaining the reason for UNIFI petition. Like CCTV, content streaming, smart home etc. Dedicate another flyer for that, clip it together. Make the explanation like infographic, I got my gf did it and thanks to cause she is graphic designer. It really helps to explain to that 50yrs middle age man the difference between streamyx, wireless broadband and unifi. The old man was sceptical at first since he already subscribed mobile data. In this case I told him UNIFI is no quota. He was unconvinced 😤😤. But later I found his petition in my mailbox, probably signed by his children. You be amazed some said they happy with 1mbps. 🤬🤬. Usually people older than 40 won’t layan you or renter who lives there won’t layan one. Your best bet leave it at their mailbox.

Im sure if MYREPUBLIC can go in Malaysia and can get last mile end connection, they will not hesitate to lay fiber in your so called NON PROFITABLE area. Dude, just cut it. TM is being unfair and too greedy despite got funding from the Malaysian GOV TO LAY FIBER. Suppose to support all Malaysia for better fiber nation!.For god sake.

Don't know the truth and can't handle the truth. Think that funding is enough to lay cable to reach every single home in Malaysia?

Where's other Telcos support for your better fiber nation?

No they dont, truth is, it only matters after they lay a backbone.
Lets say you're in a streamyx area, you have 30 would be subscribers to unifi who are current streamyx users, but there is no backbone/fiber equipment to the area required for unifi. Verdict: TM will not care.

If your area just got a backbone/fiber equipment for unifi, but from the exchange to your housing area is not wired yet but you have 30 people interested, TM will wire in about 3-9 months.

So in conclusion it doesnt do a thing. Unless however there is great demand in the greater area TM will not expand unifi and the reasons are 2 fold. First is TM's own internal politics play, they dont care about their customers only their image, 2nd is the local councils delaying TM, either with their crazy chargers/requirements or something else that both parties not satisfied with.

Being a current TM customer is far worse than being a new TM customer, its how they keep you in contract. You gotta stop, then go get it again just to get the best offers. Astro/maxis is even worse in this regard though.

thats because in your area there was a backbone to it with a cabinet of the right equipment for them to deploy unifi to your area. So it only speeds up their deployment if they have the infrastructure to support it to your area, otherwise it wont come unless there is great demand in your greater area. They dont bother with expected future demands.

To be clear, its our duty to annoy TM to improve their infra and provide upgrades to existing and new customers. Their inconsistency in pricing and use of old equipment is very very low of TM. For instance many streamyx users are actually on ADSL 1 while some are on ADSL 2+, whereas in australia 10 years ago they were all on ADSL 2+ and were kept on it because their government were too dumb to realise the need for better internet.

Uploads determine how good our internet is, not downloads. DSL and cable was a very asymmetrical technology because that cabinet would consume a lot of power whereas your modem only consumed a few watts, hence the asymmetrical nature. Now we are not limited by technology and TM is following the same path as a lot of bad ISPs. Even american ISPs have learnt their lesson because of google and are spreading out full symmetrical gigabit fiber optics but like malaysia it is not done in a fair manner, and by that i mean those that dont have the infra in their area deal with super expansive slow internet. They also realised this problem in the US so made all sorts of links needed to improve the bandwidth to these areas, either by a massive powerline or wireless (both the wifi we use and also LTE).

TM's problem is that once you subscribe to them, you will be less likely to quit, because of lack of competition. Your current options are only either TM or maxis. Celcom wired broadband only covers a small area, same with TIME. So TM knows that even if you quit and complain you wont have any other choice, other than to take on a new 2 year contract.

Google fiber is very different, they treat both their new and existing customers well to the point where existing ISPs showed just how much money they had when they started bribing cities to keep out google.

I try to stay positive in this case. My petition dries up at 23 signature till now. I kinda hope to get the 30 mark.I am arguing if I should go for one more round of petition run around the neighborhood again. I might get an odd 2-3 signatures. My area parliament member is really hard to get in contact via whatsapp or fb messenger. So, I will try to get up to their office sometime soon to request for letter of support. If they wont sign it or they quite petty about it, I will try for our chairman municipals council or one of the councils. Getting a city council signature should be easy since my mum office basically shares same building. However, I am just not too sure if council only letter of support will give that push compare to our MP. I prefer if MP get to my attention. Not to mention I did help organize and volunteer some of their event. I am doing a social service so that our MP can put up this collective argument in parliament next time. innocent.gif

I had neighbors that told me they already had unifi.... Thinking I am selling them insurance.... pulak.

I had neighbor that sign the petition and turn around scold me that I am not capable of getting uniform laid.

I had neighbor who wanted to let their dog have a piece of me.

I took 1 week to know on all doors. I got 50signature out of 80plus. I did this while the haze is at its worst.
Call me crazy but sitting on my ass for 7 years did not get me unifi. I had to act.

On the good note 1 Grandpa and a Pak cik invited me into their house and talked then signed my petition. I am grateful. I
Still greet them now.

Don't give up.

What are the success rate for those with less than 50 signature and a support letter from area MP. However, my support letter is directly address to TM. I made a WhatsApp group for those who gave their IC number and address. I think I can explain to them about such changes other than unifi fibre and use different ISP. Problem with telco fibre is that I don’t wanna them to think I am asking them to sign up for wireless data broadband. 🙃🙃

Basically you work for TM, you not get any discount for bring 9 customer to upgrade...

This bullshit... TM being Telor Maslan

TM should do this, a customer can bring 9 or more customer to signup for Unifi, give that customer reward like discount a year, because he bring customer for you, and he basically work for TM, and TM lazy, this is abuse!

Like a referral... so hard? TM dont have brain?

So, I stumbled onto this guy Facebook shared post. Some comment said they only paid contractor + cable optic for 1K + 3K only in plain sight 500m from next unifi area. But overall cable along roadside to target area is like 1.2km. So, rm20k estimate is far off by some poster. I think PH should come up with next HSBB3 with more than rm2b investment. Gov budget for HSBB 2 in 2015 was only rm500m. But then again, Mahathir will not give that big budget now that his focus is 1 trillion debt and new car company. *sigh* I guess it’s justified that TM personnel said they cannot cover everyone. What not justified is area with VVIP or Menteri or Rich and famous area are given priority, I don’t really see this people fully utilised and it’s a waste of potential.

Petition update: collected 24 signature(NRIC/address/contact), got an MP sign support of letter, and an official letter to date. I think I will try my luck going to to meet TMpoint manager and see what she has to say. 😎😎. I am gonna go with a year timeline before Unifi reach my place. If not hopefully those 4d or Damacai got me rm10k one day.Attached Image Attached Image

Final update: I managed to hand in the demand list (petition) of my housing area, MP support letter, official demand letter, goggle map highlighted area, excel spreadsheet of contact list and address.

The meeting with the manager was good and short. She was nice overall. Had to take early off time from workplace before lunch hour and it pays off. She told me my letter is complete and she will put my case in her next meeting agenda. An overall thumbs up. A site survey will be conducted to see if unifi is good to deploy. Most people in our town usually who do demand form are higher up people in ministry/politic/tan sir/businessman or big companies with government ties. She didn’t hide that facts. She glad I approached this way. I will follow up every 4 months now since I got her email/WhatsApp contact. Sign off for now. Hopefully this thread help for those need to kick out their streamyx. Can’t wait to join unifi elite class club and get my website running. Say no to peasants streamyx 🤣🤣🤣🤣

And I will take the 100mbps so that the shitty neighbors who didn’t show interest will left with no port. And cry on social media for next 5 years.

I be here in 4 months time. Peace out ✌️.

*
Another SOP answer is suruh your jiran pasang 100mbps with RM200++ package (The most expensive package)..
Very fast you will see poles already...

QUOTE(westlife @ Aug 17 2018, 04:26 AM)
10 signature is way too little. one area needs minimum 80% of request from household before TM will really come to install the infra for free. else one street requires rm20k++ to install the infra if one wants to request them to come.
*
After you get 10 signature, then TM will say not enough.. I need extra 100 signature..
After 100 signature, then not enough. I need 1k signature..

There is non-ending signature..

QUOTE(slaveone @ Aug 17 2018, 04:23 PM)
what monopoly? why dont you ask Maxis or TIME to provide service there...? what's stopping other providers to give their service at your area..?  rclxub.gif  rclxub.gif
*
Do you think TIME will provide other state area such as Johor, Penang, Perak, Seremban and so on (EXCEPT selangor and wilayah persekutuan) there?

Second, maxis has their own infrastructure.. But limited...
Mostly need rely with TM poles in order to get services.

And without TM poles = no maxis fiber coverage.
End up.. You need to slave with TM... I need your "poles"..

*
I never see before TM got member-get-member..
So far I see maxis fiber have like this campaign encourage people to bring more customers. And then give people discount per month or something else.

You think "Unifi, give that customer reward like discount a year"? laugh.gif

I don't think so ISP dont want to invest. It's really making money one... But first thing set up need to spend a lot.. And then only after 5 years or more longer years to earn back..
I guess TM is control everything for fiber service provider.

Good explanation though.
Is it weird if few lorong away from us got unifi while we still dont have the coverage?

From my experience, DiGi throttles between 7PM-1AM so you'll get less than 1 Mbps download, especially in city areas. Sometimes the throttling happens randomly even outside those hours. It's so weird when my modem says I'm on 5 bar 4G+, but the speed is like using a dial up modem in the 90s biggrin.gif

If you don't experience that throttling now with their service, eventually you will ... probably 2 or 3 months after you've subscribed.

I know this as I stream a lot from Twitch and sometimes YouTube. I don't torrent or P2P, so not sure if they throttle those too.

not weird, basically means they didnt wire your street to the cabinet. But since unifi is already in your area, you can get some signatures and go to TM to get unifi. Or you can set up a p2p wifi with one of the nearby houses using a 10KM capable 2 channel wifi ac p2p setup and ask one of the houses with unifi, you subscribe your own, modem stay at their house with one wifi point, and align to your house.

Trust me, most of the time, the resources are fully available. But what causes the problem are not resource but human issue. I've been to some projects implementation that's under government before. Throughout the entire meeting, i've seen pple who attended the meeting with an empty brain. Only when the meeting is coming to an end, they would suddenly jump out to ask silly questions that they should be aware before they attend the meeting. Silly questions such as what type of cable they're using , are they realiable and who's the contact person. Well, with all given resources and quotations, these are basically the prerequisite that folks who before attended the meeting has to study well. Not ask these kind of dumb questions during the meeting. And there are also unseen questions that are not addresses beforehand too. No surveys and no checks to ensure that the meeting is about discussing importance of the projects and to deliver the project on time. It's usually delay a few times until a few months later or perhaps few years. You'll basically vomit blood judging the performance of these staffs representatives.

If I am not mistaken, the success rate is 34% of people living in the same or very nearby road and minimum application must be 20 to 30 people.

If let say your specific road got 100 house. And along that road, got 34 application, they will consider. If less, they won't entertain.

And let say your area got 34 application out of 100 house, but it is scattered all over different road, they won't entertain.

This is based on my case, there are more than 10 road in my neighborhood, but only in my road the demand for unifi is concentrated (34% more), so they consider my road only.

But of coz, each Case is specific up to TM discretionary, however in common, that's how TM are deciding.

I just filled in the demand list. The person in charge said they target to get 80 signatures and they will implement for the whole residential area by October this year. Hopefully they get enough applicants to sign up.

How is your procedure for requesting the demand ? go to tmpoint ?
They give out a paper to sign or we create a letter template ?

Speak with your neighbor, get the agreement from them to fill in the form (will be provided by TM salesperson) then if you fulfill the minimum number of application as per my guidelines, you Will get the unifi.

don't request the demand from TM. you should get them the demand for TM to entertain you. Not enough demand, no Unifi.

You and your neighbors should fill in the unifi application form from TM, then provide the forms to TM. Once u have enough number of application (unifi demand), then only TM will connect unifi to your place.

The unifi application form, You can get it from TM point or any TM sales representative.

The unifi application form, You can get it from TM point or any TM sales representative.

I have filled in the Unifi Demand Form when TM set up booth at my area few weeks ago, the form looks like this:

Link: https://www.tm.com.my/Home/Broadband/Streamyx/Documents/Streamyx_App_form2014.pdf

The header is something like "Borang Permintaan", the content is very similar to this form. Hope this helps.

You mean basic unifi Form from Tmpoint ? if that sure have but depends whether they wanted to give out or not.

What I wanted is the form of "Unifi petition (demand list)" that you mention.
They said , never see any demand list petition form.
but You said you have the form , I really wanted to know why tmpoint doesn't give out the demand form

I don't think they allow you to apply the application form of unifi if your area is not cover with unifi.
The only way to be a unifi agent.

How to become a unifi agent ? so that I cna ask every house to apply the form or collect demand list , petition sign and etc ?

I though they everything direct enter to the system for the demand list.
Anyway, this type of form is not so really effective one..

I even through already in demand list, wait for 4 or 5 years already still no coverage.

Haha, TM likes this old school form... I remember i filled in this kind of form a decade ago and today they still using the same form template.

Btw you need to gather enough numbers or else they wont layan you. I don't how they define the minimum number tho. My area has +/- 250 houses, that day TM told me they need at least 80 residents to sign the demand form then only they pull the fibre over.

The Demand Form that I filled in looks like this, orange colour form but with Unifi Packages on it (I'm not sure how Unifi application form looks like, it could be the same form). I did not tick on any of the packages because the form is meant for TM to collect names, not for sign up.

I do not know how to become an agent but I don't think you need to be one. You are not helping those people to sign up Unifi. (Sign demand form and sign up unifi service are two different thing)

But this form doesn't have the unifi RM129.
Did you thick Unifi others and write the RM129 100mb ?

But did you sign ? Just worry if someone suddenly said you sign to a certain package. This form is not demand form , it's apply form.

You are wrong, Sacofa is owned by Sarawak Government (including SAINS, Yayasan), CMS (50%) and Celcom (15%).

They have extensive fibre networks (clients including universities, corporates) as well not only telecom towers. Edotco is owned by Celcom/Axiata but in charge of the towers only.

VDSL is for copper apartment block not normal household. It's stop gap measure I think instead of pulling cable to each apartment in the building. I am not technician so I don't know you need to ask experts 😂

More than 70% in the neighbourhood already fill the demand form.. And tmstaff themselves said this place memang got high demands. Till date still give excuses like cost even tho the developer said all specs already ready.. just wait tm to pull the cable in.

I can say, these demand list are utterly bullshit.. Unless got tm people can help push.

Hi guys, sorry for no updates for quite a while. It’s been officially 1 year 2 months since I submitted my petition with somewhere at 30-50 signature (more or less I can’t remember).

Good news is that the fibre network layout was done in my area, I can confirm, the neighbour Lorong that didnt sign the petition was skipped and those who signed got the networking at their Lorong.

I can confirm it is fibre layout due to wiring colour black with yellow strip. The ground guy just finished yesterday. No white box was attached to pole yet. This morning I texted the networking team, and the vice branch manager of TM. YES, it’s on!

However we still need to wait 3-6 months awaiting port and exchange node if there no issue, latest 3 months. But certain case it can drag up to a year. Nonetheless, I am happy that they are doing something and take our petition seriously. Without petition, neighbours sign and the YB and Datuk bandar, I surely feel like a wreck if they didn’t do anything.

Conclusion,
Do you need petition?
Maybe but for them to take note maybe much of your area is zero if no petition.
Does petition helpful in highlighting your area and prioritise your are?
Absolutely, yes.
Will TM take your petition seriously?
By right they should and they did...so Yes

I no longer need the unifi fibre high speed for my e-commerce entrepreneur journey since I got physical office address with Time internet. However, this unifi at my area will be a bonus in addition to working at home. Thank you and I will update if once the internet up and running.

Wow, I got flooded with how to get demand form and so on in my DM. Just to clarify all the paperwork and petition thing, I only prepared formal letter as front page. Later I highlight my map area as 2nd page. I explain all the reason why we wanted high speed internet; CCTV, internet commerce, high speed streaming etc. 4th page all the table fills in with name and IC and phone. Some neighbours won’t give IC, phone number alone is enough.

All that I compile together and photostat. One copy to your YB, one copy to municipal datuk, one copy to mcmc via email and one copy to your TM branch officer in charge.

Good luck

glad it works out for you.

for mine, seems last week just got the update from those in level 2 TM, and after some stuff, technical details, feedback from local councils and some technical proof and finally they said management has approved the project for my Taman but still waiting or budget and earliest would be February 2020.

although hard to trust the "promises" on going to install next year, but it's still better than the "no planned project" as reply. right now trying to ask them to push earlier installation for the fiber and poles.. see how it goes...

One thing u want to know about TM marketing and management team is that, most of the brain over run by fleas.
Even they reduce the price of Streamyx to RM69, they still continue to give freebies to Unifi fibre customers like 3mths free. But Streamyx users after downgraded to RM69 gets nothing. Considering the fact that Streamyx users paid the most exorbitant prices to run a primitive broadband package still all benefits are straight away given to fibre customers.
If TM management team brain is not over run by fleas then i find it hard to describe what sort of mindset house in those muscles. Maybe worse than fleas, it's cheap cotton.

Finally a date to deploy Fiber in my area.
For the first phone call they said they r trying to finish this by end of this year.
which is only less than 2 months. But i really dont see any WIP in my area. So I request an official letter from TM. If they failed to do that I will use this letter to log a complaint at MCMC.
well at least an official letter rather than just a phone call.

Because Streamyx customers have no other choice
Whereas UniFi customers now have the choice to move to Maxis Fibre, Celcom Fibre & in certain areas, Time Fibre

Seems there's some digging and planting fiber line happening at my housing area now, asked tm earlier seems they said already got project ongoing. Just given time estimate maybe around 2020 unifi will be available here or maybe early if everything goes to plan.

Guess all those emails, calls on the right channels does some helps after all these years.

asked the tm staff directly can get some answer if you know who to ask.
Also, cables from poles need to be connected via nearest exchange node, normally these cables are buried underground.
fingers crossed.

For example, like the attached image.

i know that feel bro. countless complaint via MCMC everytime they close my report.
Not sure if it is coincidence, before Minister announced NFCP (National Fiberisation and Connectivity Plan), i actually wrote it to KKMM office during national day.
2 weeks later KKMM replied said they r taking action. Few days later i received a call from TM and they finally promised they will do it this time for my area, because they received direct order from MCMC.
hmm.gif made me curious if KKMM really did something

current skmm did some changes compared to previous administration which is a good thing tho. last time only "no planned project, not in project and so on" ..then few months back got update from tm staff said the project already been approved. tho no time frame given when it will be done, fingers crossed.

have you try to check in your neighborhood that how many apply for Unifi installation?

u may ask them to send the application so that TM know demand for Unifi in your area is high. have you get offer from TM to upgrade streamyx line to Unifi?

I feel MCMC still the same, last time before Gobin Singh force TM to lower the price for streamyx i get the same reply, every time i ask them to lower the price for streamyx if not just deploy Fiber.
But in the end they fking close my report again.
But after i received a call from TM they only said hopefully can complete by end of this year, which i really doubt if they r really that efficient.
So i request official letter from them. This is what i get.

i know that feel bro. countless complaint via MCMC everytime they close my report.

Same as mine one, complain via MCMC keep close my report.
I straight call to MCMC, I see from the system "RESOLVED".
What means of resolved? Oh Ya~~ cool2.gif I until now haven't meet TM come to my place before oh.. whistling.gif

And I don't see any unifi equipment in my house yet.
So this report auto closed after 15 days, is it? unsure.gif
OR which person-in-charge close this report ya? Can I direct speak to him/her?

Keep pushing and harassment them 2 times per month.. vmad.gif

Try involves neighbors in the neighborhood if they got interest in signing up for unifi, as I did with my neighbors here and pushed for demand. Also writes to local council as well.

Actually I got a call from TM last week, according to him TM is pulling the cable to my area now and expected to complete before end of Nov. During the call he promised to give the contact number of the person in-charge via email, but he closed the report without giving me anything... After I re-open the report twice, they finally provide the contact number and an email address for follow up.

still depending on how the staff will handle, some tmpoint tm staff will just bluff their way, some will take you seriously.

for my case, the tm staff personally call, whatsapp the current project status for my report.. so far has been helpful lah

The contractor said that my Taman optic cable project is funded by MCMC. His team setup the cable works only. He mentioned that this unifi upgrade only eligible for existing shitmyx customers only not for new customers.

Perhaps you can investigate whether it's a nation wide project funded by MCMC or not.

BTW, that contractor also mentioned that if any customers willing to pay 10k+rm. They can setup unifi optic cable for the customers. The only terms is the nearby area must have fibre broadband coverage.

In this case, sure new customer will complain fierce one. That's really fiberacist. laugh.gif

I guess the optic cable project funded by MCMC first. Then TM pay the loan to MCMC. Of course, TM get the money from existing streamyx customer (use that monthly subscriptions fees to park in this fiber project)
It's make sense if the routing is like that lah. (I'm not so sure but sound like true.. whistling.gif )

10K? This 10K direction pay to MCMC or pay to unifi? (Since you mentioned funded by mcmc) hmm.gif
TM claim there are 2 million of subscribers that I don't think the company don't have money to do this project.
Else, those subscribers pay monthly to the "sea", but not pay to TM.

Afraid they use the money to do funding of so called "5G projects".. whistling.gif

Current progress had been very positive. Had a small talk with contractors. They said usual TAT after installation is 3-6months then can start apply. About time I have some first world problem. No longer worry about long upload speed

Yeah sure. But who gonna have a look at your request. The best outcome for you is go knocking on each your neighbors door and get their signatures. Run down to mayor office/YB to support. Then forward it to local TM branch manager. If it’s is not progressing, forward to the HQ of TM in KL. Having things online is just a lazy man solution which translate to gets nothing done. Same apply if to success in business, investing and career. Go out and get the right thing done will get you reward.

Taman I live already have Unifi! and I use Maxis Fiber because of "reasons"

I use Wireless Bridge around 5 to 6 month of use, using Maxis on existing Unifi is easy to setup without need new fiber
I wonder why Unifi cannot share VLAN500, PPPoE support multiple sessions even in same machine

Than I ask Maxis to move actual house, and I sold my Ubiquiti for RM530 for both end point.

plus to have unlimited data and 4g backup

Finally i saw this today! Near my house.
Had a short chat with the contractor. They said gonna do the cabling on my street as well. Finally. Had a call with state TM as well, they said service will be ready by end of this month. Hopefully no more delay! Really thx to our ex Communication Minister, lowering internet price and bring fiber to all the house hold!

Congrats! I'm still waiting. Due to the recent scenario happening around Malaysia nowadays, like covid-19, the change of government, economic slowdown, tm share down drastically bla bla.. I think the unifi project at my area will be delayed until infinity... sad.gif Guess my area wouldn't be included within 375,000 copper subscribers to be upgraded to fiber this year. That's the pain of living in the rural area. Padan muka! rclxs0.gif

Received a call from Telekom today.
A lady asked me if i would like to upgrade to telekom unifi..
Thought she tried to get me into VDSL copper.
Turn out that she asked me if i'm interested in fibre optic not copper.
She also asked me if i'm interested in the 100mbps package..
I told her i had two screamyx account .
If they could upgrade them to 100mbps and 30mbps, i'm sold for it.
She told me a TM officer will come to my area to get pple to sign for the upgrade.
Lol.. finally after 9 donkey years for jenjarom... the answer come.

Yea.. I wondered why the sudden push for fibre biggrin.gif
Today their TM officer(a chinese) came. I believe is their partnered agent.
They help me to do the registration. Was really quick and fast.
Compared to last time, they ask you to go tm center to register yourself .... Or you have to keep chasing them.
The officer tell me that supposingly , only screamyx are the first batch of users to be ungraded .
Those without a streamxy account are not given this privilege.
He alone has 50 applications on hand around my area.

Wait he directly came? Thats quite fast bruh..  for me he said after mco D:

Not directly came. If you see the date i last posted here. It's like 3-4 days later he came to my house to do the registration.
Also informed me that the installation will only start on Next month 5/15-20 due to mco.
My area all the subscribers don't want any installation until after june or july because they afraid of coronavirus.
I told him to proceed with installation on May .

TM reached me they got project planned for june but postponed due to MCO. ETA for fiber is end of the year. Fingers crossed. Felda area at Hulu Selangor.

U sure you from jenjarom ?Unless u stay in taman yayasan or jaromas area. I'm not sure about those area.
The day after they completed the sign up and left, i drove through the a few lorongs to check.
I saw 1 unifi box installed at almost every lorong. There's only 1 particular lorong that do not have that unifi fibre box.
I believe it might be occupied by people who are not interested in internet. Hence why they're omitted.

*
There is no monopoly. Maxis can lay their own cable fibre optics no issue, but the only risk Maxis cannot bear is loss profit due to cust opting for Unifi instead of Maxis. This has happened before where a housing area Maxis invest some money in an area, all completed and ready to plug & play, but turn of events the housing area residents all wanted Unifi. Case was brought to MCMC because Maxis was reluctant to allow such thing happened, but as you know when MCMC is involved, Maxis has to surrender.

It is much cheaper to get TM to lay down the fibres and then opt for another service provider. This factor also affects TM's decision in laying out cables.

Another factor of the installation of Unifi in an area is the readiness of fiber optic of nearby location. If there is already fiber backbone nearby, TM can consider on extending the network to your location, but if there isn't any, then you might have to wait for a very long time while TM will try to seek for budget to lay fiber backbone from nearest IX to your location

10 years of waiting at Kampung Jenjarom finally answered after several times trying to reach TM Branch Manager at my area they responded. I was told by himself that TM already ordered all the equipments and stuffs to build the Infra for Unifi.

Most likely by September or earlier than that i will able to subscribe Unifi. Phewww

TM no money even to set up FDB boxes which costs less than RM100 in bulk and nowadays fibre cables are going so cheap they must be pokai already. doh.gif

Better hope for TNB to expand to your area instead.Their open network has more ISP choices and they can afford to provide more ports to serve a specific area.

There's secret reason why the telcos are now updating their network progress and coverage maps. They fear their competitors will take advantage of it and counter their plans.

Very dirty business huh?

Still in very early stage lah. Don't get excited so fast. My service contract still got like 1 year plus before expiry.
Many of the areas already under coverage by TNB have not yet setup the FDP boxes.

Under current idiotic mcmc minister and the government, you will continue to stuck with streamyx..

Instead they will advise you to wait for 5G for now.. Since DNB is benign to close digital divide

Look back this post above back to 2018. Actually my house already installed Unifi since 2016. From 30mbps -> 500mbps now, the price remaining RM179/mth.

For those people who really need the fast speed fiber optics broadband, my best suggestion is to move your house to other area. Make sure to consider that area is free from natural disaster too, meaning that no flood at your area.

If your area is covered but your property is not in database, thus can't register, try check different roads nearby.

My area covered but not include my lot. After like a year going back and forth investigating and making noise at TM, one day Celcom decided to help me investigate.
They found that my property is available, but whoever installed the infra keyed in my lot to a small road nearby forming nonexistent, orphaned address.

When they finally come to my house to pull fiber, the contractor had to connect it to a dp 200m away on that erroneously assigned road, crossing main road two times, although there are two other dp within 50m from my house.

The level of stupidity involved in my fiber installation process is something to behold .
