QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 3 2018, 03:41 PM) Bendix MKT are some seriously overrated pads. Overheats damn fast and makan disc like mad.. Seal Cam Cover (the rubber) 1st change on 3 ~4 years, 2nd not last (out side workshop, but say Ori Proton part) is due to I can see Timing belt cover got oil stain, when check change the Cam Oil Seal then together with this. For a good budget brake pads, I will stick to either Mintye or Bosch Pads. These 2 budget brands are the only ones that didnt overheat too much after spirited drive down genting. https://www.lazada.com.my/products/bosch-ge...1.html?search=1 Change Top gasket/seal cam cover? impossible need to change so often.. Mine after change never leaked till now and that was like 3 years ago. Last week back to Proton change again, hope can last another 3~4 years... or due to my engine oil, I keep using 30? As now lot of Proton carry only 30... |

QUOTE(wklow28 @ Sep 5 2018, 10:33 AM) Nope, is just my own survey. I suspect cloud it be I use the 30 EO that's why the gasket won't last long!Cos when new car the 1st few years was using 40, and the gasket can last about 3~4 years, which is reasonable for me. Is just I guess only, due to 40 can take higher temperature, I check with workshop, mostly say not related.... |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 6 2018, 04:40 PM) In reality if ur engine is operating at such high temp that it matters between using 30 or 40 oil, then u need to consider flushing ur radiator and changing a better coolant. The Coolant part, I still follow SC standard, using Proton and change every 20k. shouldn't be issue. |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 7 2018, 12:29 AM) Lol.. Mine run for around 150k km before i changed.. I see no degradation in my coolant or any engine oil leaking into the radiator area.. Wow.. so next time I can drag longer to change.. maybe 40~50K.... Never had overheating issues too. Nice.. Never tried Tesco brand.. Too generic to give it a try. |

QUOTE(ZenGTMM @ Sep 7 2018, 09:46 AM) Time to time just check ur coolant reserve tank level and also open the radiator cap to see if there is any brownish sediments.. Then u will know if a leak is coming out somewhere. Noted. Everytime service they also take the reserve tank to check, and sometimes add a bit, sometimes throw a bit... |

Thanks for sharing.parts that finally damaged since ownership: 1. drive shaft (left) 2. crankshaft sensor 3. Rear abs and, that's it. How about Power Steering oil? Have you change it? |

QUOTE(delsoo @ Jan 15 2019, 06:09 PM) My car almost 8 years. So last service is 2nd time doing it. (My own standard) According to the staff, is better change. But for those too long time didn't change, then better remain untouch. As there is a case after change, the pump leaking. It make me worry too..... |

I'm using TRW rotor with normal brake pad only.Im using Brembo normal rotor, work well with brembo brake pad. squeezing sound after changed other brand brake pad. seems ok, no sound. Before that very noisy at morning, then change pad & skim....sounds gone after skim, but rotor can't last. Within few month, can feel the brake vibrate when press..... so no choice change rotor. |

My 9 years Persona come back the 'tuk tuk' sound when turning the steering. I remember this is common issue during that time, and i have change the Power steering pipe & Orifice Valve that time.
Any idea how to solve this irritating sound? |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Dec 26 2020, 12:42 AM) Have you solved the issue? I accidentally did a full front suspension restoration because of a noise issue. Nope. Recently just service at Proton SC. After they check, suspect is drive shaft. My is only when turn the steering while moving. The noise not relate to speed. As long steering turn the 'tak' plastic or metal sound is there. When turn back also same.Basically, you need to make sure the nature of the noise. If it's rhythmic that changes depending on your speed, it can be 3 things: wheel bearing, tire and drive shaft/cv axle, the thing that rotates in the car. IF not, it can be other things. End up, technician say as long no leaking just use it. As replace it will be more than 1k. |

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Dec 26 2020, 03:29 PM) ah i see, it's the outer cv axle. you can get new aftermarket one for 150-250 on shopee depending on what brand + have ABS or not. anything proton original one sure mahal double price compared to aftermarket. changed my left driveshaft few months ago with brand Gaido RM210 plus pay labor charge RM40. Yours noise relate to speed or not? How's the result after change? So you buy at Shopee? Labour RM40 should be ok.anyhow, Proton SC can just walk in or need to make appointment? About Proton SC, i service at Melaka. Normally if no appointment, just wait longer if lot of car. Not sure KL can walk-in or not? Depends on branch also... |

Almost 10 years car. Since lockdown only drive once a week. Yesterday during driving, the stock radio auto off! When I turn on again everything as usual.
Luckily past the month of July in Chinese calendar 😓 |
