I'm using oem. Just make sure the PSI rating is the same then you should be fine.
*
Ours is small head with 1.1 PSI, right? I will check the price with Proton & OEM, if not much different, then will go with original.

I didn't chane at the end. Went to Proton SC, the mechanic so nice, bring the cap to my car want to change for me, after he tear off the sticker looks dry, then tell me no need to change unless overheat.

Was thinking is it due to hot weather? so many heat issues on old car.

Still it happened. Maybe what you can do is monitor closely by installing an OBD monitor on water temp.
*
Touch wood so far so good. Just wonder quite number of people & few cases also relate to heat issues.

My is idle vibration still not good, some times can feel like short of breath. This happened after change thermostat. Last major service, change ATF, spark plug, air filter, fuel filter and even spray to clean the throttle body but still not improving. Give up already, maybe last is engine mounting.

how many km u change ur thermostat?

anyway i did change my mounting did see much improvement on idle vibration. like new car haha
*
Based on my record, i changed once at 77k, now is 150k. What's your mileage when change mounting? I did change once as well at 94k, don't want change so soon, not sure how long this car can last...

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Jun 30 2023, 08:34 AM)
78°C or 85°C thermostat? For car that old like ours, might need to check ignition coil also. The ignition boot of campro IAFM cracked easily and can be replaced cheaply.
Final thing about it is heat. If you can identify coolant temperature range when breathlessness occurs, it'll be helpful.
*
78°C, how to check the ignition coil?
Mostly on idle, sometimes obvious sometimes ok, when drive is normal. I just monitor see getting worse or not? My current pending issue is Alternator pulley, start getting some minor noise on idle. Check with few foreman some say change the pulley after market, some say no issue, just the noise won't impact anything.

You guys absorber tahan lama also. i think my absorber was changed prematurely.

Mounting rosak that time. kedai tayar try phyco me absorber also kong. i changed to a KYB one.

Original one, the last 10% of rebound not as good. i keep it in my boot till today.

currently my front mounting, absorber ,absorber link , engine mounting and drive shaft already replaced.

Thats all for now.

Lately my brake macam press after long drive lembut. i just flushed + service . now better but maybe out of 10 long drive 1 time still kena . not sure need to replace master pump or not.
*
My first pair of absorber also keep ask to change from workshop about 93k. There is no different when drive. After that change to KYB, I suspect slightly shorter, until last year again workshop inform start leaking. Will keep using until i feel is not comfort or when alignment out. Now 150k. Engine mounting also change once, now not in good condition already.

how long it lasts so far? scared use not original part will become faulty just in short time end up spend more.

i for sure now won't use non original tensioner.
*
Too early to tell, bro. Just half a year now.

My alternator also China new now, that time at workshop, they unable to get ori.

Now my wheel bearing problem, again unable to get ori, even i go few Proton SC to find, so remain China new.

Your alternator die on second year ? ...that is too fast... hmm.gif
When my car get into flood, the workshop i send my car change the alternator with not sure what brand of alternator (cost me RM580), it can only last for 16 DAYS...
how i know there is problem ?...Symptom; My NEW BATTERY become FLAT...
After that i go back to the workshop upgrade the alternator because it still under warranty and they upgrade to Mitsubishi alternator (add another RM100)...
It just past 1 year and 2 moths...still monitoring how long this new alternator can last...hope it can last for several years at least...
*
My China new alternator just pass 1 year. Hope can last long.

Notice old car lot of part Proton no more manufacture, so remain after market and mostly from China, but the box will put 'Made in Malaysia'

NTN bearing available, should be good enough.
*
Ya, Few spare part shop that i went no NTN for ABS version. And try call for further shop, price almost same as original RM160 per pc.
Maybe i will go for China new oem. Just even that also different shop carry different 1, price + - 10 to 20. Less than RM100, but labour itself already RM60 per side. Maybe i just change the 1 have problem.

Did you change before? 1 side or both side?

I change my rear left bearing brand NTN when my car mileage at 307,000++km somewhere in 2022...
Only change one side cost me RM240...
The workshop told me the best is to change both rear side but i decide to change only one side...
The original bearing can last 12 years (2010-2022)
Now i think the other side of the bearing start giving sound..
But i just let it be...
Once the sound become worst only i change... rclxs0.gif
My mantra on my car "Don't change the part unless IT REALLY NEED TO BE CHANGE... "
*
About the range, if take NTN. Workshop & Seller keep say all about the same. Different about RM100.

My original bearing is 13 years, about 160k. If local or China made can last half of it is also worth, unless only 1 to 2 years, then is a waste. My also rear left, but when drive the sound seems like is from front.

QUOTE(Steponlego @ Sep 18 2024, 10:54 PM)
Change both sides. If one is faulty, the other side is bound to be faulty soon.
*
Workshop say the same, but labour charge no different, per side. So I will just change 1 side, unless can save on labour then may go for both.

Yeah... That's how i learned original part and OEM branded part are not the same even we can identify OEM manufacturer.

Now on Gvolt.
*
I'm using Gvolt too. Just pass 1 year.

QUOTE(inferno_17_85 @ Sep 19 2024, 11:04 PM)
I tend to agree on both sides. After all no ones buy single side of slippers right? 😆

But yeah it's very common in Malaysia to change faulty side only as our cost of time and worksmanship permit this logic.

No right and wrong. Just matter of preference.
*
Ya, nothing wrong, just ask some opinion from some who experience before. At the end still our choice. For my case, i will change 1 side tomorrow. Worse case change another side, just waste some times only.

To my surprise is check few shop TNT no warranty, only China or Taiwan have 3 months warranty. So I will just give a try.

To be honest I still feel my car powerful
Regularly change plug, filter.
Service tb twice.
5w30 engine oil
Once in awhile use techron cleaner.
220km
9.5 years ownership
*
I'm using 5w30 too. For my car age (13 years, 165k), some advice to go for 40 engine oil.
While idle can hear minor noise & vibrate, but when drive is good feel. if use 40, only good when is newly change, after few k, feel engine heavy, (before 5k).

what's the interval you change plug & ATF oil?

haha this 2 years only start tracking
Minimum 1 to 1.5k yearly haha.
spark plug 30 if not mistaken ( i svc at protong)
ATF usually 20-30k km (1 to 1.5 years)
5w30 petronas ok la not leaking yet.
usually if leak , head gasket. common problem hahaha.
if use 5w30 near 10k km also pancit liao hahahha.
Once change back new oil. vroooooom
*
I'm using Shell semi for 5w30 for 5k only, head gasket change few times already.

If follow Proton schedule, Spark plug & ATF is under major service every 20k. I feel like want to delay a bit, since so old car already.

You service at Proton SC, the oil filter no leak? I been tried few round for the past few years, keep leaking after few months, make me dare not use their original filter anymore.

Try unscrew it, lay the membrane nice nice, and screw back nicely. Last time when i had a leaky brake fluid reservoir, it was because of the cap wasn't screwed in with proper alignment to the thread. It looks normal but you will feel the difference when you unscrew & screw back properly.

If all is still the same, i guess you have to change the cap. It's available on shopee.
*
Thanks, bro. Seems working, let me monitor few more day.

Waste of my brake fluid, i have throw out some, as some say leak is due to overflow. So I purposely make it lower than Max line.

Guys, my brake master pump leaking near the join at booster there, but is like almost few weeks once, the fluid level no drop, but can notice a stain on floor.

Is that the problem of brake master pump seal or the booster also related?

If change master pump, is there any different like TRW, china OEM & Original?

Thing with booster is there's a diaphragm inside which if soaked long in brake fluid, it'll go bad.

I'll go for a check first, then depends on situation or wallet decide if you want TRW or Original. As long as rubber component involved, i believe original is better. But no wrong to go OEM one, TRW is reliable brand.
*
Thanks for your advice.

It just happened about a month ago, hope not too bad. Hard to just for check, right? when i visit workshop they also use torchlight to see the stain come from where only. Once open, have to change, those brake fluid also have to flush again.

Check the price already, Proton ori about RM300, TRW is half of it. Guess i will go for TRW, hope can last for me.

Do you have experience of changing this pump before?
