I bought Seagate 120GB with NexStar3 enclosure yesterday. I think it is a good combination with reasonable price. RM300.

IDE as i think there is no much different between them, since it is connected using USB2.0 only.

as I stated in previous post, u will connect the e-sata cable to an e-sata port (not USB), and usually the e-sata port will be included when u buy external enclosure that support e-sata...and yes, you can get the speed of sata with e-sata... nod.gif
*
huh u said esata enclosure comes together with the port .... so we can insert to your pc....

but the other guy mentioned esata enclosure hav to buy, then hav to buy another esata port @@

if esata enclosure+esata port is around rm100 more less, then i think can buy loh since the SATA speed much more than IDE doh.gif

since i use it for mobile.. and not every pc got esata.. mostly usb..
so i decided to choose IDE..
becoz
1-IDE HDD cheaper
2-IDE casing cheaper
3-USB transfer rate no different between sata n IDE
4-u got a great deal on sales thread...

the e-sata port if plug on your mobo, issit shown outside ur casing like USB port ?

but if its inside cpu, then no difference between ESATA and SATA ?

cos with SATA 2.5" HDD, u can juz buy SATA cable and plug into SATA port then can get the speed alreadi ...
dont need esata also ...

correct me if i wrong rclxub.gif

Thanks notworthy.gif

The enclosure realy cool !! comes with almost everything ... how much is it ??

* Aluminum casing - assists in cooling your hard drive
* Transfer rates up to 3Gbps with eSATA connection
* Transfer rates up to 480Mbps with USB 2.0 (12Mbps with USB 1.1)
* Easily add storage to any system with USB
* Hot swappable - plug & play without rebooting Windows
* Attractive blue LED indicates power and hard disk activity
* Currently support up to 160GB hard drives

esata = 3Gbps ??? so fast meh

as i know, sata2 only 350mbps .... quite blur lol

if 3GBps, that mean 3000mbps ??

sry still new in this thingie

wd 60gb 8mb ide + 2.5" tomata casing = rm 178 pcfair price last month.
warantty : hd 5 years, casing 3 month
wd have 2 model 2mb & 8mb. make sure get corect model. Mine is WD600VE. WD give 3 years warranty.

Main used : cybercafe. dont have screamyx @ home.
- no benchmark no picture. i can say take about 10 second (more or less) copy 700mb linux iso.
- run directly opera, firefox portable, eudora, forte agent, greatnews rss reader, filezilla, flashget all in the same time from portable hard disk.

problem : some pc have detect problem. detect but with warning or not detect al all.
*
Today I just got myself a Seagate 120GB SATA with Digiboy (LOL) casing for RM295. I also have this detection problem. Anyone else face it? When plugged into a PC, one of 3 scenarios: detects OK, detect with warning (unrecognised USB, etc) or no detection at all (nothing happens). Is it the casing connection problem? I'm thinking of returning the casing and upgrading to a better one... any good, cheap, reliable casing to recommend?

Those are called multimedia casings or something. Just ask at PC shops and they'll know. The best known one is from Sarotech, RM400+, can play DivX AVI MPG bla bla files off your 2.5" disk, supports subtitles SRT SUB bla bla, has remote control, etc. The cheapest non-branded one is almost RM200 with no subtitle support, FAT32-only, etc.
