Lemme share a little from experience in the business(management). We all know brands like Schindler, Kone, Otis and stuff like that tops the brand in elevator. Unfortunately, they have a very short lifespan. Parts and replacement usually EOL about 5-10 years down the line, that is usually where the nightmare starts.
When you use elevator in a building, you'll notice there's a brand imprint usually on the elevator cart. But how sure you are(unless its a new building), that what you're seeing is the actual brand? Because of problem as my previous paragraph, the cost/logical choice is to most of the time mix/match parts, cannibalize whatever that's still usable and salvage another part from somewhere which leads to all the problems u guys go through.
Malaysian law in management is very weak, even super high end condo(1-2myr/psf/maintenance fees) doesnt have a proper budgeting or forecast and an elevator replacement is NEVER EVER included in a long term budgeting. Elevator life on average is only 10-15 years old. Just as a reference point, in Japan, its mandatory to have a 30 years plan in a building management budgeting.
Apart from the above, Elevator also goes hand in hand with building structure. As we all know Malaysian building "quality" and i am sure many PE here can agree with me, is not the best. Elevator shaft misalignment happens more than you think, degradation of the shaft may also indirectly affect the difficulty of maintenance and ride comfort.
As for TS question, my answer is. Its pretty irrelevant. Schindler has the best product AFAIK, but any brand can be upgraded to its higher model of choice at a much cheaper price point and ANY brand cart can be renovated/decorated to be like those of Schindler or even better. Most important aspect is the "after" maintenance.
