Yes, you are right. Found the above post from first post.
donhue was right too. So, BP is really strange to set such low limit and doesn't follow other banks' practice.
Just got back from a trip from Melbourne, and verified again the daily limit issue. It's worse for more advanced countries where credit card / contactless payments are very common, coupled with higher cost of living, as it's much easier to hit the daily limit.
Other sharing from my trip:
1. Almost all places accepted BP as payment. The only place that rejected it was Apex car rental company where they required a normal credit card. This was already reported, and I expected it as well, as they'll need a credit line to charge tolls and other charges to after the initial payment.
2. Some places will have a surcharge for using non debit cards or for using credit cards. This ranged from 1.5% to 2.25% for the places I went to.
3. Some places didn't require a PIN but payment went through flawlessly. This included parking ticket kiosks.
4. Of course, known fact: exchange rates were great. Exchanged AUD 2 weeks ago at a rate of 1 AUD = RM 2.98, but my settled transactions so far are between 2.907 and 2.924.
5. Didn't withdraw AUD over there as I already prepped some up front and was already planning to use BP as payment directly.
6. Topping up while overseas was flawless as I already enabled mobile / sms roaming before I went. Bought local Sim card for data.
