Hi all brothers & sisters, i had bought a used Nissan Grand Livina 1.6 Auto year 2011. The salesman told it is a fuel save family car.

We drive it 90% (40~70km/h) in town area and 10% (70~100km/h) at highway. Now my car last 185km for Rm50 RON95 Petrol @ RM2.20/litre,

FC is 185km/22.727272litre = 8.14km/litre (27cents/km). I would like to ask help from fellow grand livina owner and other popular car model

pls advise your car FC i think mine a bit high sweat.gif sweat.gif sweat.gif

Pls advise FC for cars below if u own it thank you very much:

town area drive does it has a lot of stop n go?trafic jam?how many passenger were there when u travel?did you bring heavy stuff?

did you check the car condition after buying it? basic stuff like air filter, spark plug, engine oil, atf... how about the tyre pressure? make sure it has the recommended pressure.

my ranger t6 FC is much worse than urs when driving in town area.lots of stop n go and slow drive (30-40km/h)

Hi bro, my wife send kids to school and tuition center nearby ~5km has a few stop and go. Normally takes 3/4 kids, never carry heavy stuff.

Initially i also suspected the running condition, but after i done full service air cond compressor/changed air filter for air cond/ new spark plugs/

new engine oil/ new atf oil/ recommend nissan tyre pressure..i get this final result, so i would like to know if mine FC is normal or not or i was

fooled by the salesman confused.gif

Thx for the info bro! I had tried from Butterworth to Ipoh on highway and get 13.2km/litre aka 17cents/km.

It mean rm50 for 300km @ RON95 rm2.20/litre.

But yours is 2.0 litre, different class and more powerful thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

School runs normally like that.there's gotta be lots of idling while waiting, crawling to find parking spots and stuff plus women drivers usually take fc for granted.they don't know how to optimize their driving style to get most kms for every drop.they just tekan to go and brake to stop

Change air filter
Spark plug if never change before.
Change fuel filter.

Buy caltex concentrate plus and pour to your full tank.

Last time I buy 4 caltex concentrate plus into one full tank and can smell the carbon burning. Lel

The Livina 1.6 is underpower, hence the high FC.

The same also happened with the Nissan Sentra. 1.6 FC overall higher than the 1.8.

First of all, it seems your method of measurement is not accurate enough. How to measure more accurately is like this:
1. Fill up to the brim.
2. Reset your trip meter to zero.
3. Drive until fuel warning light comes on.
4. Fill up again to the brim and note how many liters.
5. Check the trip meter and see how many kms already travelled.
6. Divide the distance from the trip meter by the volume you just fill up in point no. 4 to get your real average.

Now I also have the exact same 2011 Livina 1.6AT, driven mostly by my wife and also almost 100% city drive. Fuel consumption is only around 9-10km/ltr. Last time when I drove it with roughly 60% highway/40% city, then can get over 13km/ltr but I drive smoother too. Car was bought from new and only has 77k+km on the odometer now. So IMHO the fuel consumption is not good considering it's such a slow car! doh.gif

In comparison, I just got a 2008 Suzuki Swift Sport 1.6 (M) with almost 120k km on the odometer, been driving it like nuts, already remapped it and use sport exhaust, yet I can still get over 11km/ltr! Haven't tried driving it smooth and slow but probably can exceed 13-14km/ltr easily.

Even my 2.5ltr Toyota Mark X has better fuel consumption than the stupid Livina! It can easily get 10-11km/ltr despite much more power and heavier car.

Yeah, I think the 1.8 Livina should give better FC. Should've bought that one last time but I don't care much about MPV car especially since it's for the wife, so just not willing to spend more money on such a car.

I am only disappoint with my livina 1.6 FC but feel GREAT with all others as a 3-row seat MPV. For now i am considering to sell out my livina 1.6,

switch to livina 1.8/wish 1.8 and keep it as weekend car and buy a fuel save sedan to send kids. That's why i ask for owner to share their car FC

as models below :

Nissan Grand Livina 1.8 Auto Year 2011 or earlier

Toyota Wish 1.8 Auto Year 2006 or earlier

Honda Stream 2.0 Auto Year 2007 or ealier

Proton Exora 1.6 Auto Turbo (Bold/CFE?) Year 2012 or ealier

Honda City i-DSI 1.5 Auto Year 2007 or earlier

Honda City VTEC 1.5 Auto Year 2007 or earlier

Toyota VIOS 1.5 Auto Year 2007 or earlier

Thank you very much all!!!

Okey I will share my MPV. Exora Bold Turbo.

Full City driving / short distance drive . Right foot itchy ..vroom vroom turbo boost.
Can go as high as 12Litres per 100KM . That 8.3KM/L

Mixed driving of Highway + City. Can do about 10Litres - 10.5L Per 100KM . 9.5-10km/L

Yes. It's nearly 1500 Kilos Kerb weight. As heavy as most 2000CC sedans.

Best record ever. Full Highway. Driving only 80-90Km/H on the slow lane all the way.
No speeding at all. Not even once 110Km/H.
6.4 Litres per 100 KM - 15.6Km/L (Yes. No bullshit)

But the moment hit city driving, goes up real quick.

Fuel i use: Shell (seems to work best with Exora).
Engine oil: Petronas 10W-30

My advice to you, try different brand of petrol , and see which gives the best FC.
Use Fully Synthetic (or Semi Synthetic if on budget) and 10W-30 oil.
Go for 0w20 if your manual has 5w20 temperature graph showing suitable tropical hot temperature.

I currently own a Honda City 1.5l VTEC variant pre-2008 and used to own a 1.6l Auto Nissan Grand Livinia as well. The Honda City, if I'm light on my right foot, FC up to 15km /l. 12 ~ 13km /l if stuck in jam or city driving.

Nissan Grand Livinia FC kinda sucks. At best it is around 12km/l even on highway driving around 90km/h. City driving or stuck in jam lagi teruk. Can be as low as your FC, around 8 - 9km/l. Eventually sold it off after 5 years.
