Aiks, I thought Unifi don't have those so called all in one modem+router+wifi device like we used to have back in the streamyx days?

Can give some example brand that have such products...?

huawei got such products.
https://e.huawei.com/my/products/fixed-netw...ptical-terminal

but i dont think end user will be able to use it out of the box.

Really, all the while I thought Unifi must use separate devices for it to work. Unlike last time during streamyx where one can use just single device, then can go online ady...

But anyway, I doubt the wifi coverage for this single device will be able to have wide coverage, so a dedicated wifi router will still in need~

Should we enable the "Smart Connect" on the Asus router? Is it smart enough to adjust the wifi band automatically whenever the 5GHz is strong enough and 2.4 Ghz when 5GHz is weak?

Just asking, cause my current TP Link C1200 doesn't have it, thought you might have tested it with your AC86U...

Do share your reviews on the GT-AC5300 after you have "molested" it thoroughly... tongue.gif tongue.gif tongue.gif

Bought this AC adaptor from Lazada as well for spare in case the original AC adaptor craps out
https://www.lazada.com.my/-i212078976-s267110243.html
Same voltage but higher amps

Bought a different one from the same seller to use with RT-AC68U & RT-AC86U, been using the AC adaptor for more than 6 months and it's really stable
Also same voltage but higher amps than the original AC adaptor
*
Are you saying that stock adaptor are prone to spoil easily??? I'm not pro at this voltage and amps thingy. As long as the voltage need to be same as the stock adaptor, the amps slightly higher is ok?

Just sold my RT-AC86U for RM600
Whereas I bought it at RM569.10 devil.gif

Good business here, foc use for your AC86U plus extra profit~

No lar
I bought & uses 3rd party AC adaptors for 2 reasons:
1. I like to keep the original AC adaptor unused, so easier to convince the buyer that the router is still new
2. Because I like to use AC adaptor that provides higher amps, so whenever the router request for extra power, the AC adaptor can definitely provide it

Yes, it's safe to use to use a 3rd party AC adaptor that supplies the same voltage at higher amps
What you can't do is use a 3rd party AC adaptor that supplies higher / lower voltage but with lower amps
I always do that what
Last time I bought RT-AC68U for RM200 in Taobao then sold it for RM400 haha laugh.gif
*
Is it cheaper to buy the adaptor online or from LYP? So Asus router uses the 5.5mm head jack?

You can do it again when the RT-AX88U is launch in Malaysia again~

Lazada bro, check the previous link I shared to you
RT-AC5300 & GT-AC5300 AC adaptor tip is 5.5MM x 2.5MM
RT-AC68U & RT-AC86U AC adaptor tip is 4.0MM x 1.35MM
I actually thought of selling my GT-AC5300 at RM1500 and buying RT-AX88U from Taobao laugh.gif
*
Hahahaha, then you should have directly go for the RT-AX88U during the 11.11 sales. That time was selling for RMB 2699 (RM 16++), now it is retailing at RMB 2999 (RM 18++).

But if you can sell your GT-AC5300 for RM1.5k, then it is a good profit margin there...

Lets see next month if Asus really launch the RT-AX88U in Malaysia and see what is the RRP then~

It was actually RMB779 during 11.11

Used Boost to pay, minus another RM22.

Final price around RM450 excluding shipping.

Mine is still on the way, paid quite a lot for shipping, because i asked for tax covering + sensitive item.

[attachmentid=10115242]

Oh, how come RM 22 discount if pay by Boost? Some kind of ewallet, promo ongoing?

QUOTE(thunderbird @ Nov 20 2018, 05:22 PM)
i paid extra RMB70 to clear custom, if today not holiday, i should be able to receive by today.

i know networking item always get taxed (work experience),  just don't want to take risk and headache.
*
Sorry to ask, how come your custom was paid in RMB? Held by China custom? Or Malaysia one?

Sorry guys, anyone know where else can I check the tracking for Gdex beside their website? It seems like their website were unable to key in the tracking number since this afternoon. Able to load the site, but not the part where we can key in the tracking number...

yes, Boost promotion.
Not held by custom, but some sort of "special fee" to cover the tax if there is any.
*
So you paying the "special fee" to the forwarder when they start to ship your item back to Malaysia?

Mind to share are you using taoboa direct shipping or 3rd party forwarder? This is the 1st time I heard need to pay "special fee" one.

Usually if use direct shipping, I think taobao auto added some additional fee for sensitive items. Whereby if use 3rd party forwarder, they will ask whether you wanna use normal shipping or sensitive shipping, both with different rate of course...

3rd party forwarder, i stopped using taobao official forwarder when they removed the other three, i was facing a lot of issues with the official forwarder that they "cheated" the package weight.

Not sensitive shipping dude, i am not newbie ok...

This is special fee that to make sure my item won't be taxed

[attachmentid=10115427]

Pardon me, as I'm the newbie actually...

This is the 2nd time I purchase directly from taobao and ship it back using 3rd party forwarder myself.

If sensitive items, my forwarder will charge me the shipping rate at RMB 22/kg + RMB 40 (sensitive fee for 1st 5KG). So I ask them why the RMB 40, and they told me it is something like special route for sensitive item when it arrive at MY for custom clearing (包清关)...

But I think sHawTY was using direct shipping from taobao and they are charging him normal item shipping rate only. And yet his router arrive safe and sound without any issue from custom. So my guess is MAYBE this is some trick that forwarder uses to charge us more? Anyone wanna be volunteer to try it out next round? tongue.gif

It just my own choice to pay more, like i said, i don't want to take risk and i don't have time to deal with this, i rather pay more to have peace of mind.

I work in oil and gas and my workload is heavy.

Nice one. Don’t forget you need to select Unifi-Home mode for it to work. Unifi-Business works too, if you are not watching unifiTV.

If I'm a unifi home user, with ultimate package, but I never bother to watch, can still select Unifi Business and get connected?
